Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
lemoen replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
A bit strongly worded maybe. Kudos for not using the word 'millennial'. I feel that we should strongly look at CrashO's suggestion. It gives both sides their fully functional weapons (for Flanker / F15 and Mirage) and also keeps the high-tech fighters (F15 / Flanker / Mirage) further from the front lines, creating an associated 'cost' to using them instead of Mig-21 / F-5. This will likely sit better with everyone than the nerfing we currently have. It'll also make fuel a more important consideration and it will necessitate teamwork in order coordinate CAS / CAP. -

So, I believe there is at least one bug in MP with the BK90. If you pickle two of them quickly at two targets that are quite close to each other, the first explosion kills the second bomb I think. I haven't tried this in a while but it did mean I had to re-engage a target area a bunch of times to get all four BK-90s off.

Operation "Blue Flag Normandy" - 24/7 WWII PvP Campaign - ROUND 1
lemoen replied to xcom's topic in Multiplayer
It probably bugged out. That is not supposed to happen. Once an airfield has been captured, only the controlling faction should be able to use it. CUrrently, each faction only has a few airfields they can use e.g. Red cannot use Chipelle even if they control it, it does stop blue from using it. -
Mine does the same. DCS 2.1.1, Oculus Rift.
-
You know they do that because they don't have real enemy hardware but in DCS we kinda do. Not that there's a problem with going Meta and doing a simulation of a simulation.

Any chance of at least ONE MP Normandy server having full labels?
lemoen replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in Multiplayer
I feel that full labels will take away too much. A better option would be to have the little dot, like what is on the Blue Flag Normandy server, and make that dot colour coded for Allies / Axis planes. Also, giving two teams really bright colours can help, maybe forcing very visible Invasion stripes on the Allied planes. Having received my Rift yesterday, I do understand the visibility problem now. -
Would be good to be inclusive to all. Face it, if we had much larger userbase (twice as big if equal numbers of men / women played) we'd have a much better game in various ways. I don't buy this 'it won't be realistic' story I see here. Don't be daft. Its as realistic as actually shooting at an enemy aircraft (because realistically it happens very infrequently in modern times).

It happens. Remember, these military boxes takes years to develop. If it was developed when pentium-100s were current, they'd make them with those (hardened versions) and by the time the plane is put into service those cpus (and other electronics) are woefully outdated compared to consumer goods. You can't just replace the components because it likely won't work. Source: My father is an engineer who designed weapons systems for the military.

Also, it only affects Mk-82 as far as I know. It worked with GBU-12 last I checked.

F-15s Unrealistic flight model & turn rate at slow airspeeds

Also, AOA and alpha is the same thing. -
More than 350 and less than 520 knots IAS. Also, ensure TAS and RS is on and make sure your radar altimeter is active (switch below the HUD). The rockets land exactly where they are supposed to.

If the creator of the objects gives them a suitable licence e.g. CC-BY then ED could include it and just give suitable attribution. If the creator wants something more, then it will be different, but it is a free download.

Operation "Blue Flag Normandy" - 24/7 WWII PvP Campaign - ROUND 1
lemoen replied to xcom's topic in Multiplayer
The FW190's engine seems to break at the first hint of damage. I was 'killed' so many times this weekend after the first hit. Can't wait for the updated damage models to be done. -
Came looking for this. I have been feeling this is a major problem too. Flying over the water at 10000ft or 100f makes little difference, the texture and colour is uniform like a game from the 1980s. Its like the LOD isn't working right. Edit: I see that one can actually see the water better if there is some wind in the mission, maybe water should have a non-zero amplitude when there is no wind.

That thread is closed. A new one must be started.

How can I get the UH-1H in Normandy ?
lemoen replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
When you make a new mission, choose the 'Modern' template for the coalitions. Then you should be able to get the modern units. -

There's a few threads about this: turn off tooltips.

I think more FC style modules would be cool
lemoen replied to aidanw2000's topic in DCS Core Wish List
There are better things to make than more FC3 aircraft. For one, the scripting engine, mission editor and AI leaves a LOT to be desired, one of the main downfalls of DCS is the lack of content and more importantly, the lack of replayable content. -

I modified my TF-51 last night to have a transparent windows. I unzipped the cockpit textures file for the TF-51 and for the P-51, then I copied the cockpit-refl and cockpit-normals (and maybe one more, you'll see the P-51 has some extra files, copy these) into the TF-51 folder. I renamed them to be tf-51-blahblah and I zipped the file again. That worked for me, I can now fly the TF_51 on Blue Flag Normandy without setting my head position all the way up and left/right :D
