  1. True. I also long for things to do in the F5 and Viggen (besides lobbing mavs at stuff or reverse engineering the mission file to get BK90 coords). I still say there should be a way for players to disable bases that spawns the modern fighters, be it via runway denial, destruction of fuel depots or otherwise, and yes, limit the fancy planes a bit, make them valuable assets, like they are IRL.
  2. ^ This too. Radar takes a good few minutes to start working.
  3. What about the 8 minutes it takes for the Mirage INS to align?
  4. Yeah, it would be cool to see a graph, for the current round, of the number of active players for every 5 minutes, from the time the round started. That would show if one side has more people online, on average.
  5. That's the nature of the beast man. You can only half fill it to get it over quicker. Then you'll probably have the same playtime i.t.o. fuel as the mirage.
  6. You won't stop fighter spam, you just delay it by at most a few minutes, either way, by adding / removing the startup refuel. Only way to stop fighter spam is to limit fighter slots to some maximum. As to the relative virtues of flying the Flanker vs Mirage, besides the bugs, that's just how it is. Going without Fox 3 missiles against a more modern fighter is going to be tough. The Eagle pilots have a similar problem against red mirages. You have a really large armament to make up for it though. Mirage is quick to get into the air but we all know how many missiles needs to be fired on Blue Flag, especially later in a session, to actually hit a target, and the M2000 runs out very quickly unless you're lucky. Its a piece of piss to fly though, agreed, and I think the real one is too.
  7. Not if you do the fast align, then EGI aligns in less time than it takes to arm the plane and remove half the fuel.
  8. One solution would be to limit airframes. Each player still gets their 4 lives but there's a total per base too, which gets replenished at some rate (one airframe per slot per hour?) Easiest short term solution is to make the Mirage refuel too. It does refuel quicker though, because it has a small tank.
  9. Yeah, but you also have much longer play time than the M2000. Small price to pay for twice the missile load.
  10. That will then allow you to save time at refuelling by taking a new plane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. No AMRAAMS in Blue Flag.
  12. The FC3 aircraft doesn't have a 'startup sequence'. You switch on power, left engine, right engine and off you go. The M2000, like all other full modules, require you to remember the full sequence of a few dozen things to make it go. The refueling of the FC3 aircraft is a way to meta-simulate this, AFAIK. IMO the auto-start should be disabled. I never use it but I know some people do. It really shouldn't bother you to be able to be airborne quickly, its a very small part of your sortie time, unless your standard sortie results in you being shot down very quickly.
  13. The only time the refueling time is of consequence is when you need to scramble a jet. You can put fuel tanks on the F15 and take off, the fuel will transfer into the main tank then you can drop the tanks. Gives you some play time for scrambles. In other cases you may as well sit tight and wait, you're going to do a lot of that in the F15 either way while the strikers / helos does their thing. Take the fuel out of all of them.
  14. The SU25 and A10 also start with full fuel tanks and can be in the air in 2 minutes. I suppose the difference with those is you usually have to wait for the fuel to be taken OUT before you can take off.
  15. I got it and I don't own a warbird. Mirage is french, Normandy is in France. Coincidence?
  16. The helicopter is very heavy in that mission, with door gunners and rocket pods and miniguns and troops on board. You have to gain speed first then try to climb, it can't climb all by itself, make sure the rotor RPM stays stable, lower collective if you have to.

  20. Are you sure? I thought old purchases would still work but new ones won't.

  22. Hmmm. OK. I misused it then. Will try again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Will do. It is possible that I'm 'in firing position' while the target is further than 1000m from me and the pipper is MIA because I'm too far. I do clearly recall that the pipper is very jerky and slow to update until some requirement is met, maybe range or something. I'll make a track.
  24. This is the problem, its not like I'm unable to hit someone with guns, the pipper is literally not there and I'm wondering if this is correct. I don't have 5 or 10 seconds to carefully line up and wait for the pipper to appear. People don't like being fired at ;-) I'll do some tests. At the moment the air-to-air gun sight is practically useless, all my MP kills have been done without it, just judging by eye, where in the F15, say, the gun sight is pretty useful.
  25. I think people aren't making missions for it because that version of DCS is still being developed, and campaigns and missions may stop working with updates, also, there are far more players on 1.5 at the moment. This will change after the 2.5 merge.
