Has there ever been or will be CONFIRMED engine modeling?
lemoen replied to acdelta57's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Yeah, basic engine management is needed. The Huey has none. Switch it on, throttle max and go. Thereafter the only thing to worry about is rotor RPM. In reality this is not the case. I just run the Huey on MP with the governor switched off, to make it go faster, because I can. If the rules of the sim didn't allow me to do that, I wouldn't, either way, one learns what the limits are and push them. -
Hall-Sensor mod for CH-Fightertick?
lemoen replied to Speedfreak's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
SAAAAALTYY. You don't need grease on this gimbal, perfectly smooth without. Love my Fighterstick. Just wish I could use it centre-mounted but the design doesn't allow for that, much more comfortable on the side. The 8 bit encoders aren't an issue at all. The Fighterstick and pro throttle works perfectly. -

Server's down. Failed to come back up after a restart. -
Bunch of us listed as Reaper - blah on Blue Flag most evenings. Mostly dutch but some others (like me). Casual group, blow stuff up, work together. Find us on the BF teamspeak.

You need to do it always before you take off, when you're aligned with the runway. The Nav system needs to know ;) I thought so anyway. Maybe one day I'll actually read the manual. -
Ah yes, 15 seconds at full burner. I remember now ;-)

I'll try tonight. I forgot what I did before. Only happens when you go too high, never managed to flame it out otherwise.

Do you also feel this is a problem when learning the BS2 ?
lemoen replied to jfri's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I learned the cockpits of the KA50 and Mig21 in english then at some point they got switched to Russian and I just left them. Once you know where the switches are and what they do you don't need to read the labels. Mirage and Viggen I just learned in French/Swedish. -

Did you press the reference button on the runway before you took off? -

I agree. -
I don't think you must lock the throttle down, that shuts it off completely. Last time I did this I just put throttle to idle and relight switch on, nose down and waited until it came back.

ooh boy, this is going to change things in Blue Flag a bit. No more "strip off door gunners, half fuel, governer off 125knots" for me :-( -

With the Harrier and Hornet and F14 coming soon™, I think the thing to do would be to change these things up a bit. Red: F14, Mirage, Su25, Mi8, Mig21, Mig29, Su27, Ka50 Blue: F15, F18, Harrier, A10, F5, Huey, Gazelle, AJS37 Or something like this. It would be great to have completely asymmetric forces and having full fidelity, popular and capable modules on both sides could lead to larger and more balanced numbers on both sides. -

I didn't believe you so I tested this myself. Can confirm, CCRP with a 20-30 degree dive hits close to aim point, leveling out causes overshoot of Mk82.

I don't have Normandy. Just have seen them being missing in the above videos and another I saw on YT.

You don't have to have the coordinates saved in the A10C. You fly to the target area, you can see all the targets on the TGP, and mark them. Then you switch the steerpoint mode to MARK and ripple your mavs and GBU-38s. Done right you can release 10 PGMs in one pass, if you use that loadout. Verification on BF is moot because we know that there are no friendlies. FARPs pose little danger to strikers if there aren't any KUBs or fighters in the area, which is why this tactic works. -
Am I the only one missing ground shadows? Are they supposed to be missing at the moment?
-
Exactly.

Then we should err on the side of better visibility, to remove some frustration. Theres a bug at the moment though, will have to reassess when it is fixed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The discussion seems to target spotting other planes in the air. However, this is an issue with spotting ground targets too. The way it is now is that we have dots with a given colour at medium ranges, so you can see the tank / plane / building. Then very suddenly, that dot changes both in size and colour and becomes effectively invisible. This is at a range where I think they really should be visible, if you know what you are looking for and where to look. Around 5-8km away I think. Spotting cars on a road from ~30 000ft, say, is possible on a clear day, I have seen this personally from an airliner. Contrast is good in this case, which helps. Clearly the change from the dot to the visible model needs to be tweaked so that we won't notice this change AND that we're able to see targets at a reasonable distance.

TUTORIAL - Running and editing scripts without restarting the game
lemoen replied to Pikey's topic in Mission Editor
It is in the video, look closely, right panel of the trigger system, inside a Do Once trigger. -
Probably only need a few more polys in some visible spots, there are places we'll never see or won't notice unless close. Unfortunately we're always close to the engine intakes and the cockpit frame and such places.

Only exploits I've 'witnessed' was a player connecting to the same server from two different accounts, leaving one in GCI and flying on the other.
