  1. DoF is always off. This is something else.
  2. NVidia GTX 1070 390.77 Win7 64 Deferred Shading and 8 AA / 16 AF enabled in game Is is just me and my computer/drivers? After the update to 2.5 I get horribly blurry graphics, terrain textures look like low res, trees look bad. This is especially bad in cockpit view. DCS 2.5: Below is a comparison of one of my last shots with 2.1, which I unfortunately selected DCS to automatically uninstalled. DCS 2.1: When you look at the cockpit instruments, everything is crisp as we were used to from DCS. I tried deleting the shaders but that didn't help. Should I reinstall from scratch or try downgrading?
  3. I have still have DCS 2.1 and it offers me to update to 2.2 but not 2.5 Can somebody answer shortly, is it better to uninstall and download 2.5 or try to update v2.1?

  5. Just a bit of info, NVME is king now but in 2018 Intels Optane 900 will gain access to the market which will butcher NVME again. Right now the price is ridicilously high (over 500$ for a 250 GB) and hardly any shop has them. But they bring sensational random access times. I have seen graphs where all other drives have wild uneven curves depending on block size whereas the Optane was just a flat line, 200-300% times higher than the other drives. It will be like going from a Steam locomotive to a high speed train.
  6. Not that I know, I was just trying to demonstrate how a word is properly formed. It must say exactly what it is supposed to mean.
  7. Your settings are rather the entrance into a world of pain like visility = ultra, this is certainly the last thing I would start with somebody's my fps were bothering him. Also why is heatblur and global illumination off? Lastly I cannot interpret your diagrams because there is no labelling .. this always drove my professors nuts.
  8. Luftschraubenblattanstellwinkeleinstellgerät No other language is as exact as German with what a word can mean :) That's also the reason no one likes Germans, they make it impossible to be of two different opinions
  9. Because he wants to know other opinions.
  10. I would say pretty much what people have said before me, A normal 120-240 GB SSD for Windows and whatever you can fit in there without completely filling the drive. It is not important how fast it is, Windows will boot in a few seconds anyway and 100 GB will absolutely do. You probably already have that, otherwise buy something really cheap like a SanDisk. For games a fast SSD with at least 500 GB - ideally m.2 Samsung 960, or if you want to save money, SATA3. m.2 nvme requires a controller to use the full transfer speed or a expensive mainboard, as well as cooling so this is not trivial, but it could be worth it (theoretically up to 6 times faster than SATA3). Calculate a little over 250$ for the 960 Evo plus controller or 150$ for a SATA3 SSD. A normal harddisk of at least 1TB. many people get 4TBs these days but 1TB is already enough imo, for example a WD10EZEX an excellent, extremely tested 1TB drive and cost under 50$.
  11. g-sync is pretty advanced stuff and works with your monitor to make games much smoother. I think enabling it can have the effect by itself, but you need a monitor that works with it.
  12. Sounds rather like vsync is not working. In my case it is 60 fps as it should be, and the changes are too small to have anything to the stutters. What is true is that without vsync it gets jittery when low flying over cities, even when frames are over 60, which must have to do with how the game works.
  13. I would say textures are greatly improved. Which could have to do with the last versions being borked and strangely low res. If you had no Las Vegas or some other scenery to make up for it, the desert did really not look that great.
  14. And what is that supposed to accomplish?
  15. was it "Luftschraubenblattanstellwinkel" ? :megalol:
  16. I was also dying a little bit inside when I saw people discussing different types of snow, this perfectionism kills everything at this point I would take Caucasus even if it had any type of snow, even snow in August.
  17. I can contribute that stutter is sometimes related to firing guns. Sometimes as soon as I push the fire button the game stops for a second. This should be a clear indication what's going on for someone who knows how the game works I think. I am having not much of the game crashes and freezes but that does not mean they don't exist. Had a few CTDs in the editor and at the end of missions. The minifreezes and stuttering that is quite common on Normandy but happens on both maps is bearable but extremely weird.
  18. I have no idea but my experienced eyes tell me that it's warm in those images and that this snow is not going to stay more than 1 day. More like freak snow that happens nearly everywhere every couple of years like in Italy or Spain.
  19. I would be really happy if there was a realistic peace time campaign. with radio traffic, air traffic and mostly routine patrols. Occasional shooting of American spy planes etc would be still believable but the constant full fledged WWIII is actually a bit too much for me. Part of the reason is that I am still learning (though I have played DCS on and off since 2004) and would never expect to go into war without at least a couple hundred hours flight time and a real understanding of the systems. That aspect always put me a bit off combat in this sim tbh, you either spend your time wading through pdfs or going into war without preparation, there is never a real interactive introduction in the game, like a real pilot career.
  20. What needs to be eliminated is aliasing effects. For example on the solar farms in Nevada, you see a moire pattern wandering over the area. It is so pronounced that you can clearly see it even on youtube videos. This makes it a class A target because many aliasing effects are much more subtle and only show up in the resolutions on the screen, but disappear in screenshots and videos. MIP maps were invented for a reason and the texture resolution needs to be reduced, especially trees seen from 2000m do not need to show every single leaf if it only leads to flickering as if the trees were only bad holographic projections.
  21. While we wait, here are some excellent 1943 videos to familiarize pilots with the P-47. There may be more that have been made, but those are the ones I found.
  22. I would not mind to fly over Normandy or Caucasus actually. Caucasus is the home game of the MiGs, and lends to all kinds of training, patrol and border conflict scenarios, and the buildings in Normandy would be semi correct for a 1950s WWIII scenario. I dont think Europe changed that much between 1945 and 1950 and it would not disturb me much that the few tenements, drive-in cinemas and roads that have been built after the war would be missing. I imagine Normandy 1950 with a bit of extra electrical and neon light and a lot more cars would already do.
  23. They is a folder "Mods" in the game and that's where Modules go. Except if they go into "CoreMods" or one of 10-15 other folders that have been conveived over the years.
  24. Situation is close to a catch22 if you ask me. There are no training missions for 2.0 because first Caucasus must be ready, but this drags on year after year. So you either fly Nevada with the 2 or 3 missions that the entire internet has come up with for your plane, OR stick with the old version OR both AND then you better have your control settings figured down to the T or you will spend the rest of your days copying everything between your user files instead of playing. Add to that that most of us run out of space on our SSDs all the time and another 50 gigabyte for this madness are not easy to spare, and the prices for SSDs dont go down any time soon ... Not a totally ideal situation. Good news is that I expect to have a new 500GB M.2 SSD by the end of the year the so at least I can afford a dual install.
  25. This thread has been absolutely riveting so far.
