Just wanted to say thanks for doing that. I too look forward to checking it out. I also am really jealous that you are already tasting pCARS2 as well.
-
Uhh, are you serious? I am sorry but you could not possibly be more wrong. I don't get how you could make such a blatantly inaccurate statement. We see a lot of those here but this is like next level inaccuracy.
-
I got one right after I ordered that stated the following. "In the near future we will contact you to confirm your pre-order before shipping." Is that the one you are referring too? If so, I was referring to the order confirmation email and payment steps that seemed to be coming after. I have nothing in my spam/junk folder and Virpil is set to safe sender. Got the 1st email with no issue.
-
But screens of the Cauc updates have been posted. So it does indeed appear to be in progress currently and not idle until Normandy is out.
-
When will the pre-order confirmation emails be sent out? I have yet to receive mine if already sent. If not yet, then when can we expect them?
-
Am I following this correctly Andre? You are gonna have a new Jetseat version out in a few months? I was just about to order too. I would hate to order and miss out on a new improved version out right after. Would there be any changes to the dimensions or shape of it? Could you clarify in your idea for a military style cover?

Shoot their wings off. Pretty much best way to deal with AI currently.

Very true, it is hard/impossible to play others now. I so wish that RoF was in VR, it is just a prefect title for it. I love the WW1 perioid. And current VR capabilities would not be a hindrance at all due to the close combat required. BoS and CLoD will be getting VR in a few months so that is gonna be a nice alt to go to once out.

I will say this, if you have your controls in the same place every time you fly, muscle memory kicks in and I can use my mfds, wth hotas, g13, attached mouse even kb all without looking at them, my hands knows where they are. Granted for kb a sneak peek is needed occasionally. but really with VA and same location controllers it is no prob in VR. Sure taking/reading notes might be an issue.

You bought a built and pre-configured PC. And it does not sound like it is a 'brand' computer. I have seen tons with similar issues as a result. Building a PC nowadays is no harder than putting together a lego set. And with a phone or a laptop around to access YouTube while building it, it is almost child's play. I don't say that to pour salt in a wound, for a novice it does seem like a big task to tackle, but once you look at the process, it is pretty basic and easy to do. However, you are in a situation now that the people who built your PC need to address for you. THEY need to correct this Admin account issue. Have you tried reaching out to them? If not, a simple thing to do is wipe and reinstall a clean OS, you did get a copy of Win10 when you bought the PC right? (They gave you YOUR OWN legit copy right?) You for sure will have Admin rights then. It sucks this has been such a challenge for you but it seems you are trying to start out with a system that is not setup correctly to allow it to be easy for you.

It is sad when one of the Viggen instant missions is a paratrooper drop intercept and not a trooper is actually dropped at anytime during the mission.

I understand other factors are at play in producing them and atmospheric conditions play a large role in that equation as well obviously. The fact that wing vapor in any fashion does not exist at all is kind of surprising given the age of DCS, but then again it is not. We know focus is not always on the DCS product we enjoy and some is on ones we will never enjoy.

Oh all my comments are based on observation and 1st person experience along with the supported opinions of other users. Also based with my own exp in the industry and I again did not say such things are not possible nor that they are not taking place in the engine. However what we see as users does appear to belie that these computations are translating to real dynamic output in terms of volumetric rendering. This does appear to be a safe assertion to make based on the evidence. I do see that my statement in the comment "the game engine is designed to throw all that out and just say 'display wing vortices'." Was poorly worded and in fact I should not say it is 'designed to throw it out' So I retract that certainly. It just appears that that is what it is doing currently and has been for a very very long time from a user perspective. Again, the opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference. I say something because I care. :smilewink:

Actually they have been 'bugged' for a long long time, maybe forever actually(I have not done the research to state that as fact), in all versions of DCS, 1.5-2.0 and while all these factors may be be computed, the game engine is designed to throw all that out and just say 'display wing vortices', and then all it is is a loop animation with almost 0 variety or change regardless of any of the supposed 'computed values' changing AND regardless of the plane type or wing shape in fact I believe. Though I have not conducted a full study if each plane is assigned it's own vortices. Nor will I. Not my job. It is not a hard thing to check out as they appear even when taxiing planes often. I am not sure how one could not notice them actually. Heck the Screenshot thread is full of pics showing them. It is just obvious that 'dynamic' wing vapor and wing vortices are a no-go in the DCS engine currently. Maybe they will be possible in a future iteration Or they could be created in current but just not a focus of the team and prefer to ignore it for now. It is too bad for both regardless, especially wing vapor. I mean, will we ever see the awesome look from in-cockpit of your plane breakin the sound barrier.

Nothing about the wing vortices is like IRL currently. This is fact. You know it.

I will have to try this. But to be clear, you are saying you have to pause the game to see what mode they are in? So, pause game, see what mode in, unpause game, set them to what you hope is correct, pause game again to see if correct as intended, unpause game to continue playing until you need to rinse and repeat to change. If so, yeah, not the most fluid method vs just working as it should. But thanks for the tip.

Hmm hmm...mmmm. If it wasn't for that damn wink my Spidey senses wouldn't be tingling.

There are updates and fixes that are needed for the Huey. For instance, the AI menu does not work at all in VR, so you have no way to control your gunners or at least see what mode they are in, nor do you see your axis overlays, so yes, there are very important fixes that are needed asap for the Huey.

Quick question. Can you verify that existing Warthog Extensions will work with the grip and also I would assume the base as well. I cannot imagine a reason an extension that works currently on a WTH would not work with Virpil as well from all appearances. However perhaps you could validate that.
-
Awesome to see these. I hope more come out, I see no reason not to give peeks at the current state.

Me thinks some things have been added that not everyone who is interested in this kind of functionality is quite aware of yet. Hmm :book:

Dear oculus rift cv1 users. Is it really worth it!
Torso replied to boedha68's topic in Virtual Reality
Welcome to the club man. Nothing, even reading the others experiences really prepares you for that 1st time does it?..haha. It never gets old and in fact seems to get better as you learn to deal with the new env. Now imagine gen 2, it is gonna be freakin amazing. I am glad this has arrived in my time. Enjoy. -
Haha, I love these replies. So much could be created out of them and it is fun to watch that take place. Who knows, maybe we have some surprises in store for us ;)

Oh I agree the Hangar Intro does not look more realistic. Just that the changes made to the lighting in game did improve, but that Hangar area seems to suffer indeed.
-
This came after a patch in the last 2-3 months. It seems the color saturation was changed or it was part of the lighting engine updates, which I think is more accurate. I did not mind it because I use a Rift and Rift kinda seems to wash out colors a bit so more saturation was a welcome thing to me.
