"I'd love to know why the P-51 struggles......" Um, stay high and stay fast? That's part of how they survived in WWII in a lot of US planes. It doesn't struggle, there is just a way to fly it and succeed, and a way to fly it and get shot down a lot.

Hi Kippy, are you still taking requests? If so I have a helmet "patch" I would love to have added to my Huey!! ~Rob

I understand that and maybe should have worded it better.....here we go...... "When I think CSAR I think of Pave Low, and also of the rescue of Scott O'Grady" Better now? Seems like folks sit in here and wait to hop all over people for the tiniest of errors, intentional or not. Long and short of it is the CH-53 platform is what I think if when I hear CSAR for a variety of reasons - Eagle Claw, Son Tay (HH-3), etc. I've always thought the -53 was just amazing, and I realize it has done more as a heavy log heli, but when I was a kid it just struck me as a sweet as heck rescue bird. Also, so as to reiterate me not hijacking a thread, I think the Blackhawk has more of a place here with our upcoming naval stuff, the modern battlefield, he'll even the 90's battlefield, just makes more sense to have the most used helicopter in the US inventory post Huey. As much as I love, and would prefer to have, the Super Stallion platform I do think the Blackhawk is the helicopter most missing on the T&L side.

When I hear CSAR I actually think of Pave Low and the rescue of Scott O'Grady..... That said, as my virtual squadrons head CSAR guy I welcome anything that flies faster than a Huey!! Listen, both this helicopter and the one I mentioned above would be welcome, but out of the two I really think not having a Blackhawk is tough. I understand devs are busy with stuff, I just think this I one helicopter making and worth spending time and my money on! ~Rob

"You're a little low Cougar...."

Kev, I had read somewhere that the P-51H was a total dog. Know anything about this?
-
Does that work? I have had reduced tail rotor authority and wondered what the hell was going on lol.......

Zach, It's a smoke trail and the . part of the ? is the aircraft and you're looking down from above at the whole scenario. Get it now? Willis, that was a brilliant comeback lol, best I've seen in a forum post yet!! ~Rob

Photos of the two F-14's on display in Oregon
Robert31178 replied to Ghostrider142's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I read a few months back that the museum is closing down. That wouldn't surprise me, the last few times I was there the guy who owned that fantastic warbird collection was selling selling selling. As of my last visit he had sold the Jug and the Mustang and the Catalina was up for sale. I also saw somewhere that Evergreen is closing down :-( -
"......impressive accuracy"....uh, from like 200 yards.

Kev, you surprise me, you are usually so spot on with your responses....you sure someone didn't hack your account? :-) I'd bet a retirement check that this thing could out turn any of the above mentioned warbirds. I understand that rate of turn is only one half of a fight in WWII, and that the US built planes that were ultra fast but didn't always have an edge in turning capabilities, so if you were to do a "Dogfights" style comparison you'd find that it'd be a good fight, about like the Zeke vs Corsair battles in WWII. The ST has such a low stall speed that there is no way for any of the above planes to match it in that arena. When you say "it has worse performance" what exactly do you mean, because as a general statement that is just not going to be true mate. ~Rob

These are really nice looking!! Good work and can't wait! ~Rob

"If you don't turn the jettison switch off you will find that your sidewinders no longer fire until you do. Very annoying in a high intensity dogfight!" Ditto for any of your ordnance if I recall. I've forgotten a few times. For some reason I am thinking that if you punch pickle instead of the selectable jettison button you clean the A/C off?

Nice Gas lol, fan them flames eh? :-)

I have tried to reach out to Skulls through posts on here and also through a member of the 229th who knows him. I haven't heard back from him, but I would like to post this. It's a good sound pack, as before it's just a "greatest hits" sort of affair that's jsgme compatible like the original. None of the updates have broken it, my squad mate's love it, and I think the rest of the Huey community would too. Ideally I would like his express permission to release this publicly for everyone, but if including credit is good enough since I can't get a hold of him then would someone who makes decisions like "ban that dude permanantly" weigh in here? I want to share it but not bad enough to get banned from the forums and DCS. ~Rob

All, I need help. I have a sound mod that I built using SKullz Huey sound packs. What I did was take his different releases and cherry picked what I thought were the best sounds form all of them and put them in one Huey sound mod. All of the files in the mod are Skullz files, and the readme says that I did the above and that all credit goes to Skullz. Am I allowed to release this to the public, or will I get into trouble for it? ~Rob

You mean "Goose" bumps lol...."yeehaw, I'll clean 'em and fry 'em!"
-
Dang lol...aye!! Thanks for the info, I'll try that and see if it does it. If not do I have permission to see if one of my skin friends can move your textures onto one of the .bmp's that the game is seeing, like over-paint (sorta) and existing, working .bmp file for, say, EasyJet? *update* The temp textures trick worked, and I was able to fly it. Now for the next question, how do I make it work on an online squad server setting to where everyone can see it? Would everyone have to add this to their temp textures too and have the mod installed as I have it? Thanks for the help, again. I'm so happy to see it working!! ~Rob

Still having trouble, let me explain how I have the mod installed, and also the location of where the skins are to make them show up as options in mission editor when the correct air force is selected, but again I got no texture paints (digi camo and not skins) the Mod - I have JSGME in my DCS World directory, the mod is installed to: DCS World>Mods> MOD YAK-40 1.5.4 & 1.5.5 (whole folder, unzipped but added as a whole, and on my JSGME switcher it reads just like that to select it.) The skins I placed in the DCS World>Mods>aircraft>Yak_40>Liveries>Yak_40 (this is where the four skins that work fine were located by default. Now, when I go into mission editor and I select Russia as the air force all four of the stock skins that came with the mod show up and work fine, but the ones I installed from this pack show up as a selection, but the skin itself is missing texture / digi-camo. I did go into the USCM folder and compared the description.lua to one of the working skins and found that there is an extra .bmp in the working one, and that the .lua entries do not match up at all. Am I missing something? DCS v1.5.7 installed and working, all of my other mods work in this location, ISVA ships, my sounds mod, my terrain mods, my cockpit addon mods, and also when I had modded planes I add them the same way, this is the first time I have had issues with the skin like this :-( ~Rob
