  2. Hey Blitz-Hawk, Waiting on that skin!! Black shark first, term paper second!! LOL
  3. Sale on X52 at FutureShop in Canada. (vanilla x52) $99.00, sale ends Dec. 11/2008 http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10060283&catid=14263&logon=&langid=EN
  4. Thanks, will try later. Edit: Hey thanks for the new colour, now I'm torn between Huaf's mod and yours!! I did a quick little test_pattern mod of my own; Here you go fella's. should make the long flights more bearable... Extract yourself, not for use with modman. Bitmap goes in Bazar/TempTextures.
  5. I dont have the english version, but did you set the affinity of the "new" .exe??
  6. Some have also programmed their trim button with a small delay (like 3 hundredths of a second) so they have more time to center their stick.
  7. I am having a very hard time understanding why people are complaining about this price... If you don't have the $50, get another paper route or stop complaining.
  8. I'm happy with affinity on both cores (E8500), just turned it back on after running on the single core for a while. Has anyone else had a problem using Fraps while having BS on all cores?? I sometimes get MAJOR framerate stuttering; not sure what to think of it.
  9. If you have Realtek soundcard, you need to download realtek's 3Dsoundback. ALchemy is for Creative users. I had to install 3dsoundback 3 times before it worked; but now i can hear my cannon!!
  10. Guess I was wrong, it did have a realtek driver, just not the realtek HD audio manager, dont know how much good that is anyway... after all, I can't have the sound on the speakers anymore (new baby), maybe I should be investing in better headset?? However, I did get the 3D Soundback prog working, and the effects are much better... explosions are hella loud now!! I still like my "Dual Rotor" sound mod better than the stock sound tho, and I'm thinking of tuning the cannon sound to be a bit louder. All in another day, (or weekend) I've got to get up for work tomorrow... EDIT Ever since I did the 3D soundback install, I have NO cannon sound...? I think i may have err'd here, any thoughts??
  11. Heh, I must have been dropped on my head as a child... I had assumed (and you know what that spells) that my MoBo drivers had an audio driver of some sort, but apparently that is not the case. Hadn't started messing around with audio until today; up till now its been all about the gfx!!
  12. Any suggestions for people who are not running Creative hardware? Is there a way to get ALchemy to run on a system without buying a Creative soundcard? Do you have any Links that would be of assistance...?? Bah, answered my own question, my MoBo uses an integrated realtek... got to d'load the realtek fix.
  13. OK gents, here's my contribution to the rotor sound...I'm not presenting it as realistic, just different... I used the original RotorKa50Dyn.wav and produced 2 different alternatives. The first is the original sound, but at a higher volume, and with a deeper tone.(more bass) Check video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oConqdnT52o The second RotorKa50Dyn I created uses the original wav as well, but I overlapped 2 copies of the wav, producing more of a 'dual rotor' sound IMO. I also bumped up the volume, and added a little deeper tone for this one. vid here: Try them out, I could alter these again to adjust volume...
  14. Well, no military experience myself; got a brother in the Canadian Forces, he refers to regular infantry as groundpounders, bush beaters, cannon fodder, grunts; or other less savoury names better left unwritten... This thread makes me want to read 'Chickenhawk' again, that book made me realize how hairy those situations must be...re: not having the ability to dodge enemy fire, or fire back!!
  15. good stuff, i would definately use that!!
  16. Update: I've solved my own problem; and it is not difficult to fix!! This is a known issue with a few people, and it usually occurs when you mix new vid cards (nvidia anyway), new drivers, and try to run DX9 games with DX10. The solution: Force DX9 in DCS: BlackShark. The method: 1. Right-click on your DCS shortcut. 2. Select 'properties' from the menu. 3. In the 'target' box, rename the shortcut to include "-DX9". *example* "C:\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console would now look like ---> "C:\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" -DX9 --console 4. Click 'Apply'. This should run BlackShark in DX9 now, and as an added bonus, I get a couple extra FPS! Hope this helps any others!!
  17. While waiting for Blackshark, I would often fly the EH101 in FSX and pretend to do troop insertions in the forests.... while it didn't model VRS, it did have collidable trees, which could be a real nuisance!! Dropping groundpounders on rooftops could be more exciting than stand-off tactics with the blackshark --I'm all for it!!
  18. Thanks for any help in advance. My problem is that the shadows under the clouds are striped, like a zebra. These stripes only appear at medium to long range, not close to me, and the shadow of my Ka is fine. This is not a random occurence; if clouds are on, the striped shadows are there. Whenever I move my head (with TrackIr) the stripes move in the opposite direction, and sometimes flicker. I think this is probably a hardware related problem, so I am looking for help from Nvidia as well, but if any of you know of a solution I would be grateful; I'm getting tired of flying in clear skies ALL the time!! System specs: Intel E8500 @ 3.16Ghz EVGA Nforce 750i FTW edition mobo EVGA GTX260 core 216 SC edition, no OC'ing (180.60 drivers, using default control panel / 8xAF, 8xAA, VSync off) 4gb Kingston ram @ 1066mhz Vista Ultimate 64bit LG 22" LCD monitor I've used 4 different display drivers, 2 different mobo drivers, tried many options in default panel, all to no avail...
  19. You change the menu music by placing your new songs in Ka50/Sounds/EditorMusic. Personally, I copy and pasted 8 wave tracks in with Babylon, and they worked right away.
  20. I've got: CoreDuo E8500 4Gb of kingston ram GTX260 core216 nforce 750i mobo I get the same results as masonator, 1680x1050 with 8xAA and 8xAF, rarely dip below 20fps (cities are the fps killer) and have 3 mods running. (HDR being one of them.) I'm not trying to say Nvidia over ATI, I have no qualms with either; the CPU is the key here!! When DCS upgrades to quad support, I will upgrade to the best LGA775 socket quad core I can lay my grubby hands on. Might even splurge on SLI if it becomes supported!
  21. After having this mod installed for the last day, I'd have to say I like it!! Realistic or not, (I wouldn't know) I think it sounds great; thanks a lot Huaf 074!!
  22. HaH, whooops; I thought it read the opposite...enough cough syrup for one day!! Voted.
  23. Where is the poll option: -I will only fly rotorcraft. ?? Until then, there is no option worth voting for...
  24. I dont think it has anything to do with the music. To test I've only placed one song in, its in wav 22khz 16bit mono format. To explain this a little more clearly; If I dont change a thing, dont change radiomayak, just delete the sampledurationtable, then load the sim, right before I should be starting, i get a runtime error. Its says: "This application has asked ...Ka50/bin/stable/exe to execute in an unusual manner. Please contact the makers of this software..." or something close to that... I have edited the beacons.lua successfully, and have my music in place...that doesnt cause the crash. Also of note; The software starts to rewrite a sampledurationtable, but only gets about halfway done. Would it help if I showed you the new sampledurationtable??
  25. Thanks Alpha, very helpful knowledge!!
