  1. I learned to fly the huey in 2d and then found I had a lot of bad habits to unlearn when I went to VR :) amazing the effect of depth perception :) to add to the missions listed by ElementLT. huey playground by reflected. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178909 you can learn to use the FM radio for navigating to medevacs sling loads. and several targets to go after in gunship config so it has a little of everything. so its a good mission to just drop in and do random things. if you have the Normandy map there is a version of the Batumi dispatch set at Caen. its good because the Normandy map has loads of close together buildings and some really hard landing spots. but the performance is not great. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305105/
  2. just read the Wikipedia page on gun harmonisation. its reference material is of a pretty high standard. and Ala13_manowar provides no references..
  3. the contrast is terrible they need to work on the global lighting
  4. even with the mouse confined to window it can still temporarily leave the box and click outside. (its how I get control of the mouse when I lift my headset in VR. I left click while its outside to unlock the mouse.) move the windows taskbar to the side of the screen to avoid clicking on taskbar shortcuts when looking to the side and down. how I use the back switches in the harrier and ka50.
  5. they should do it as a free theme for oculus home and steamVR.. instead of the international space station as a background.
  6. if you put the stick base on a chair and sit on the base to keep it still, then the stick is actually the right length for flying while resting your arm on your thigh. so I removed the springs instead of getting an extension, to increase the precision. an extension would be too long and uncomfortable. due to medical problems I need to change seating position on long flights. which is why I don't nail down the stick to a mount. and it works well for me.
  7. over the weekend I actually adjusted my VR settings for the first time in months.. I went from 1.2 to 1.0 PD. my Normandy performance has degraded quite a bit. so it must be an issue that is different to the VR improvement. I do seem to get better performance with the new trees in gerogia but I also have an intermittent judder that I have managed to get rid of before and now im trying to get rid of it again... hence the shift in PD.
  8. I hated the pilot trimmer abstraction when I first used it. so I actually took all the springs out of my warthog just to avoid having to use it. and I have never once regretted that decision :)
  9. I don't think steam does refunds on DLC, only full games. and modules are DLC.
  10. they should have designed it to run on coal. because in 1944 all they had was synthetic oil made from coal. and the allied oil campaign was quickly reducing that production to 0. in fact the oil campaign is the only strategic bombing campaign to actually work. and it only needed 2% of the bombs dropped strategically. why the plane had a tank for funky fuel that was never actually used.
  11. somehow the AI is a lot worse in 2.5 than 1.5 with all the stopping in NOE flight. and the fact they cannot do a coordinated turn and maintain altitude and speed. makes following for 40 minutes really tiring. and yes I would do what you did, turn instead of slow down when they are being silly. in 1.5 the only time they went silly in NOE was popping up over powerlines. but you could see those coming. it is exactly the same in the UN campaign for the huey. I did enjoy the spring tension campaign though for the mi-8 also if you buy the border campaign, its set in the same area and almost feels like a 2nd tour. (even though its not) so if you want more of the same get that as well.
  12. they want 100 million "console" owners buying expensive content. and a few PC guys to test it all.. and DCS will never be a game they want because it wont port to a console. I think im going to have to jump off this ship :)
  13. get a seat that spins. and spin the seat instead of your neck.
  14. 11:30 into the review I posted before they talk about the screen physical size it may be in the review for the vive index where they talk about it again
  15. nvidia super wallet emptier..
  16. they mention it in this review here.
  17. the reverb and the pimax have less stereo coverage of the screens. the pimax because of extra fov and the reverb because the screens chosen are small. its the overlapping image in stereoscopic that gives the 3d effect. and in the reverb and pimax you get less of it than say the rift cv-1. why it may feel flat and you cannot explain it.
  18. if you are more used to the huey then don't move your cyclic so much. let the flight assist do it. wobbling is pilot induced oscillation and it actually took me a while to realise it was me because im used to the huey where you need the input because you have no flight assist. the huey wants to wobble and you need to correct it. the mi-8 wont wobble because of the assist. but my muscle memory from the huey was causing it to wobble. so I consciously had to put in less correction when flying. to be more stable in the mi-8. ironically its the opposite with the collective and pedals. I find I have to do more work with both of these inputs than in the huey. so ignore the cyclic more and focus on pedals and collective and you will have a better hover in the mi-8
  19. @madfish by better net code I was referring to this line from the patch notes.... Multiplayer. Reworked network transport for better handling of a large number of units.
  20. with faster net code you should see the server working harder. the test is, are the clients seeing better performance?
  21. GPS gives you Alzheimer's the kneeboard map and a compass is all I need.
  22. MFG crosswinds. Mr Augustus is right, I just fell in love with them. :)
  23. Most of the induced drag produced by a wing comes off at the wingtips as wingtip vortices. its a direct result of 3d lift generation. the aim9 flutter is it fluttering within these vortices. by placing the missile here its own parasitic drag is lost within the induced drag of the wing. if you mount the missile below the wing then its parasitic drag is added to the induced drag of the wing. you will go faster for the same weight. if you have the larger missile in the drag free zone. and you should have fired those BVR missiles before you need to manoeuvre in a dogfight.
  24. its about latency. a boost in FPS = lower latency. so smoother performance with less bobbles if you are capping with motion smoothing. more bang for the same fps.
  25. 4 x 20mm for chewing things up... like a flying wirbelwind...
