  1. Weekends are the best time for Multiplayer. Tons of people join squads thats why there are so many empty/locked servers.
  2. I'll be buying it :) Looking forward to it. Not going to read all 87 pages of this thread but a few things I see people crying about: 1) This was announced long ago 2) Being worked on in parallel with other projects so it's not taking away from your fast mover. 3) TFC and ED are very close this was only a matter of time. 4) Just because it's compatible with ther other DCS series doesnt mean you have to use it in real world scenarios. Many FSX users will want it, many WWII buffs will want it, many people whole like aerobatic stunt flying will want it. Looks like a win to me.
  3. DICE nerfed Battlefield Bad company2 and BF3 because of SSD, they had to make everyone wait 30 seconds now. I would literally load so fast that I would be in the game, spawned and in a vehicle half way across the map before other players would load in. Thats how fast they are. Windows boot time for me aprox 10-12 seconds from power on. Games that load big files it's a huge difference. I don't remember how long the load times were for Lockon or BS 1.0 but seems like it was a huge jump in speed. IMO: SSD's are the best upgrade with a noticable performance gain that you can actually see without a benchmark.
  4. Forgot to update my sig, already running 2-128gig SSD in Raid 0 :P
  5. My system is 3 years old...usually I upgrade every 2-3 years. Can't decide which route I want to go: (see sig for current sys specs) Keep current system and instead get 3 new 3D Vision 2 capable monitors (for 3D vision surround setup) I'm only using 1 screen now so this seems like it would be great for DCS Or Upgrade motherboard /processor/memory with an i7-3930K I've read a ton of reviews and benchmarks but from what I can see my OCed 920 @ 4ghz is about the same performance as this chip in games ( the only thing I use it for ) I'm not going to downgrade to AMD their Bulldozer is still slower than a 920 for many games and their latest chipset/processor doesnt even support the PCI-E 3.0 that they are pushing on their latest 7000 series graphics card?? I refuse to get a 1155 system, they have less PCI-E lanes and memory channels than my current system and is a dead end once Ivy bridge comes out.. 2 generations later of Intel processors and pay $1600.00 for a upgrade that isn't faster? At least thats what it seems to me. With no real competition from AMD, Intel seems to be holding back. I'ts not like when they first released Core 2 and the performance from one generation to the next was HUGE.... doesn't seem to be that way with the Sandy Bridge and the Sandy Bridge-E. Ivy bridge looks like it will be more low end/mainstream garbage and I don't want Intel graphics mixed in with a processor it's useless for gaming. I've got pretty much everything I want for sims like TIR, TM WH, MFD's, mini USB screens etc so don't need to upgrade on any of that. Maybe some of you have either the new 3930K or 3D vision surround setups can comment on if you feel your purchase was worth it? I'm in no hurry I always research my purchases for a while before I pull the trigger....
  6. ViewDx seems to specify if you want your viewport to the left or right of the center, -1 is left 0 is center and 1 is right. doesnt do anything for the fisheye effect.
  7. After reading through this thread I'm pretty sure I know how that person is doing it. It's probably so simple...Should be really easy for ED to fix. I'll say no more because if I'm right it would spread like a wildfire.
  8. Try this it didnt like the filename. Sorry bout that. 3Cameras2MFCD.rar You may have to "unblock" it if you have UAC on
  9. Try this you might have to tweak it but it should get you going:
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_Republic_A-10_Thunderbolt_II#Specifications_.28A-10A.29 Says the service ceiling is 45,000 feet...not that anything on the internet is gospel but It's possible
  11. Let me put it another way. It's code bound...Not multithreaded enough to fully take advantage of multicore processers nor does it work well with Crossfire or SLI because it can't feed the cards fast enough. Just take a look through the endless performance and tweak theads. After you hit a certain point with graphics cards there is really no additional FPS to be gained. Taking my I7 920 and overclocking from 2.66 to 4.0ghz does give considerable FPS improvement through. Switching from a quad core to a 6 or 8 core will yield no improvement. Maybe some day they will release the DX11 version that they were working on with A-10C and we will have some eye candy to acutally push these cards hard.
  12. Over a year ago during a BS1/FC2 game some hack joined and used a nuke that totally blew the base away like in the original posters pic. This has been going on for a long long time. Even back to FC1 when it was really popular for a while the hacks were rampant and the forums were ablaze in flame wars and finger pointing. Eventually the cheaters and hackers got bored of it and moved on to other games and only the die hards remained. Now it seems they are coming back as new titles are released. It's sad to log on to multiplayer and see every single server locked except 1 or 2...you cant just come home from work and jump in a game quick and fly for an hour anymore you gotta register on everyones forum and join their teamspeak blah blah blah. Garbage.... these loosers need to be dealt with quickly and with a heavy hand this time before MP is totally ruined.
  13. If he was climbing to 34k feet and the failure happened as he was passing through 15k whats to understand? All that had failed at 15k was the stall warning tone, not the engines. Those quit at 34k but since the warning system was already failed he had no notice until they just quit on him.
  14. You forgot the link that goes along with that: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=23762 First F-35B Fighters Delivered to Eglin Air Force Base
  15. It's the same engine but the graphics defaults are slightly different. Also in a helicopter you spend way more time closer to the ground so the level of detail is greater thus the performance hit.
  16. Crossfire or SLI, neither really scale well for the DCS series. Game is CPU bound and all that extra graphics power goes to waste. If you run 3 monitors though its a different ballgame. Then you need the extra horsepower to run such huge resolutuions.
  17. Ive tried all 3 versions of this program. It just takes me in an endless loop of unplugging the stick at the end then saying to plug it in again and press space. The throttle calibration utility tells you it was successful and it saved etc after unplugging. I have a feeling this calibration tool still doesnt work for some of us. Gonna contact TM and see what they say. A10 isnt too bad because you can trim it away BUT COD and ROF doesnt have that option for every aircraft and having to counteract it all the time in those is a pain. (my stick rolls to the right in every sim I own requiring 10-15 degrees of deflection)
  18. In my controls setup it shows 2 instances of throttle up and throttle down. Anyone else see this or is my controls config corrupted?
  19. It seems they reverted this bit in the 290.53 to the older Viva pinata setting and deleted the BS one.....sigh. Back to the drawing board I guess.
  20. I'd like to see the multiplayer page have resizable columns and the ability to sort by name, ping, locked/unlocked etc. Maybe make the page in HTML or something?
  21. I was poking around in the new beta drivers with Nvidia inspector and it appears they have changed the SLI compatibility bit. Not sure what it does as I haven't gotten a performance increase from it nor has it fixed the flickering clouds. previously: SLI compatibility bits: 0x00400005 (Viva Pinata, Shadow Harvest, etc. Now they have a listing for Black shark all by itself (it will also use this for A-10C since the dcs.exe is the same) SLI compatibility bits: 0x07611BC0 (Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark) Also a side note, on my system the quickest way to get SLI with no cloud flickering or graphics anomolys was to change this bit to: SLI compatibility bits: 0x04400005 (Rise of Flight) I'm going to tinker with this a bit and see if we can get any more performance from the new driver
  22. Also when you are in the sim just pan to the left there is a nice chart that shows max IAS based on weight. If you are exceeding these there is a good chance of rotor clash.
  23. Was watching you fly. Looks good, smooth playback.
  24. Nice to know. I currently have my G940 plugged in just to use the pedals...its a bit overkill. I think Ill give it a try even if I have to do some modding. I guess if I hate it there will be some combat pedals on ebay.
  25. Anyone have an Obutto and the new Saitek pro combat pedals? I have an obutto and am worried they wont fit on the pedal tray. Can't seem to locate any dimensions of the pedals on Saiteks site. I dont really want to spend $200.00 to find out they are too big.....
