Try the torrent. When something new comes out like this the FTP servers get quickly overloaded...or you can just keep trying eventually it will go through.

So pilots I'm wondering how quickly the AI shot you down on your first go around of the P-51D vs P-51D mission :pilotfly: The AI got me after about 2 minutes. (Full realism) Couldn't shake him and eventually ended up in a turning fight near the ground after he had shot me up. Poor energy management and I smacked into the ground. Been playing alot of IL-2 and CloD the past few weeks but it didn't help me hehe...

This will be awesome. It's going to free up a ton of space on my SSD and there will be no need to leave a multiplayer server or exit a game to fly an aircraft you already own. Been wishing for this for a long time. I have a couple of questions though: Will the existing DCS multiplayer missions have to be retooled to accommodate this or should they just plug in and work? Also regarding activations: will it be allowed to have say A-10C installed for backwards compatibility or for people who haven't upgraded yet or will it burn a second activation when we activate the A-10C in DCS World?

So is the DCS World/SU-25T going to be a free download or will one have to purchase a DCS product to get it? Brilliant if it is free ED will have a huge influx of new customers once they get a taste of it...kind of like the free version of ROF with only 2 planes.

What a pleasant Sunday surprise. Thanks ED! D/Ling now

The GPU is garbage I agree and it is the same in both chips. However many mobile CPUs aren't soldered on and can be upgraded I'm pretty sure the Acer is socketed. As long as you stay within the same TDP you are ok (Both those CPUs are 35watts TDP so you can reuse the heatsink as long as you put new paste on it). Best advice is save your money for a gaming desktop if you want to be serious about DCS.

Is it possible to use prepare mission for say A-10C save the settings then load the ME for BS2 and do the same (thinking in terms of multiplayer where there are A-10's and Ka-50's)

Don't most laptops have a miniPCI-E graphics card? Unless the board has just the GMA and no expansion option...sounds like a low end laptop so the slot probably isn't there. Possibly could upgrade to an I5 with better IGP than the I3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819111021 get 8 gigs of memory and upgrade to Win7 x64.

I had the exact issue you describe. There is a fix for that.check these 2 threads http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76046 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68060 -
Try loading an old copy of XP pre SP1 on a computer and connect it to the internet You'll be amazed by how fast it is compromised. I did a clean install once of my GF's computer after a hardrive failure so it was a clean disk. Installed the XP that it had come with and went out to do yardwork for a few hours while I downloaded drivers and updates and such from windows update. No other sites were connected to. By the time I came back in there were already popups on the screen and the computer was infected. Something pushed through and proceded to download 20 or so more viruses and malware programs. You couldnt close windows or kill processes fast enough. Lesson learned....

1) Even if it could a virus causing a hardware failure is highly unlikely. More likely is that the sim was loading up the hardware and a weak component caused said failure. In my experience most motherboard failures come from poor/cheap power supplies. 2) The game is mostly a single threaded application(I think the sound runs on a different core) so you don't really benefit from having more cores. You benefit from higher single threaded app performance, be it higher Ghz or newer gen processors with better pipelining etc. That being said the GPU has time waiting for data from the CPU so it doesn't get to 100% Certain options in the graphics are CPU dependent and certain options are GPU dependent. You can probably turn up some of the eye candy if you only have 60% usage and have a better looking game with little FPS hit. There is a post from one of the developers that explains which options are CPU or GPU dependent but I can't seem to find it. Edit here it is: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75097

Try these links for a solution: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76046 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68060 Even though they are regarding A-10 it's the same engine so...give it a try -

Nvidia 680 GTX Inbound
Slayer replied to Terminal Meltdown's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Anyone with a 680 tried driving 3 or 4 displays with it and tried using any type of Displaylink device? Curious if it will work or not. -
Another thing I noticed with these drivers is I can now enable 4 displays using 2 480's....before I was limited to 3 displays period. I had always suspected this to be a software limit. The caveat is that it doesn't allow the 3 to be spanned and the 4th to be used. Possibly a hardware restriction but I still doubt it considering it can drive 4 displays. I think Nvidia wants to force me to upgrade... It also somewhat works with displaylink but when I turn on the USB monitor it turns off the 2 outer most monitors. Previously it would just thrash your system.

Seems very nice. Biggest improvement I've been waiting for is that the taskbar is no longer spanned across all 3 displays when using span/bezel correction. I don't know about you guys but I absolutely hated having start button on far left and clock etc on the far right. Also FXAA is interesting performance wise but haven't had enough time to tinker with it enough. Might be better for people trying to eek out a few more FPS vs. using the games AA. Edit: Screenshot of where to change taskbar to your liking.

You don't NEED any of the extras but you might want FSUIPC registered if you use FFB (there's a limited version with the Superbug) http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html Also check out their forums for info on how to use the free aircraft carriers. Honestly it's very high fidelity. Closest thing to DCS I've ever seen. Definately a study sim. Once you can blow stuff up it will be really fun.
