Possible to open door from cockpit to cargo hold?
eurofor replied to Gerg's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Maybe if/when we get a rear gunner the cargo compartment will also be part of the internal model so we can open/close the door. It would do much for immersion to be able to look back into the rear of the helicopter and get an better perception of its size. -
Really nice to see. What sticks out the most to me is the colours and the "glow" on the horizon which looks very realistic. The real test for this is whether it handles different weather conditions and different times of the day equally beautifully.

Russian Air Force Photos and Video (NO DISCUSSION)
eurofor replied to Flаnker's topic in Military and Aviation
Someone on this forum suggested NATO should call it Flounder. Really appropriate I think. -
No disrespect to your hero but your seat may already be taken by a German as you both lay claim to it. And if Valhalla did exist, technically it is for warriors that died in combat and not of old age.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
eurofor replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Haha, it crossed my mind considering the current situation but I made this mission before any of that happened. I hope BST will change the pilot textures so they're specific to each nation, now they're all russian which breaks immersion a bit. -
http://www.liveatc.net/ edit: unless I misunderstood your intention. If you want immersion, listening to ATC using a media player in the background works quite well. If you on the other hand want the relevant information you get over the game radio to sound realistically, then I don't have an answer.

It did show up in the youtube feed earlier but was then unlisted.

Well, almost.

Thank you ED. I think this bonus system is a great incitement for buying more DCS products. Almost feel a bit bad though for not having to pay anything at all for the next module but hopefully you'll give me more chances to throw money at you this year for your amazing work.

CV90. Video is old but may be interesting to some.

New video - DCS World Tv Commercial
eurofor replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Version 1 is better I think. Wags voice sounds more honest than the other. Although I'm not sure what works best for the audience on american TV. -

I wouldn't because there are significant differences between them. The T/TM has guidance using an optical sensor which is more accurate. A loadout such as this may very well be considered too expensive and wasteful to put on an old Su-25. We don't know for sure where they draw this line so, for me, it's disqualified until there's footage of the same loadout on a non-SM/T/TM/KM version.
-
The mount actually looks slightly different. There's a horisontal bit. It would be interesting to know if this is indeed something the Su-25 can use.
-
As I said, the context is unclear. The video doesn't reveal anything more than that this was fitted to an aircraft that was probably flying. Footage actually in the air reveals more about the purpose of the flight ie training/patrol/combat/display/etc. The lack of such footage in itself indicates that it is not a common loadout and therefore I'll remain sceptical. If one would ask if it is possible to mount and fly with such a loadout then the video gives the answer probably yes. However that is not what I'm asking.
-
Because I mean realistic as in how likely it is to be used in a combat scenario. Is the range and loiter time acceptable vs the necessity to carry so much on a single aircraft. Seeing one flying in what obviously is not an airshow would indicate that there may be some scenario worth training for that requires it.
-
A similar loadout on a rolling aircraft is at least something even if the context is unclear. Still not completely convinced as there must be a good reason for the numerous loadouts with fuel tanks and fewer rocket pods. It has to fly to the battlefield and then have enough loiter time to use all those rockets.
-
It seems like a very common static display loadout and it makes sense if you want to put it on display without being all empty under the wings. Just put some unloaded B-8M1 pods on and it will look impressive. For me, the 8x S-8 loadout is disqualified until there's footage of it without the wheels touching the ground. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2c/Sukhoi_Su-25_2008_G4.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WamIInKapvg/TfrmrH6vaXI/AAAAAAAAANA/RaSOp9JD2qM/s1600/8-14484603%2BSu-25K%2BMonox.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a0/Sukhoi_Su-25_@_Central_Air_Force_Museum.jpg

I'm curious if this configuration would be used in reality or if it's more of a show-off loadout. Considering that so many loadouts carry external fuel tanks and that it must have a relatively large amount of drag I have doubts about its practicality.
