  1. @Th3ChosenOn3Ok, I really and truly appreciate the feedback, but some of this stuff I simply have no familiarity with. And I dont want to derail this thread by going down the rabbit hole further. As I said earlier, I had/have no idea what "Plazma Torture Test" was/is? Again, I assumed it was Benchmark software, then I came to understand that it seemed not to be, and it was basically someone making a DCS Trackfile and sharing it so others can play it back as and use it as a tool to Benchmark performance. Now, reading what you stated above "For testing CPU performance, we ran Plazma's torture map" I read that as something other than a DCS Track File? Then you state "You can also test GPU performance on Plazma's" I will ask the dumb question, what does that mean? Plazmas Web Site, Plazmas Software, Plazma TV's? I also presume when you say "You will also have to update the frame cap to 400". Are you referring to the "MAX_FPS" settings needs to be set to 400?(If so, I am familiar with doing that.
  2. @SilentSierraThank you sir! I have been scrolling through all pages, so far I found 2 track files on page 5. I will check out what you posted. Thanks EDIT: Ah, ok. I watched that vid earlier before I posted. Thats when I was searching for how these files were made to be called "Plazma Torture Test". I still dont know but I will download that Track and see what I can learn. Thanks
  3. Ahh,, ok,,, so just find it and run it? I presume I can run it at my resolution of (3840 x 1600)?
  4. @Jive_68 I am trying to figure out what this " plazma torture map" is? I presumed it to be some sort of benchmarking software so I searched for info. Basically the only thing I have come across are some uTube vids that show guys running some tests in some different games. I have seen 2 that show them using DCS. Can you point me in the direction that I can get some info about this so i can educate myself? I would rather use DCS as a benchmarking tool than Heaven or Cinebench exclusively. Thanks
  5. @kerlcat Did you make any changes in the BIOS for EXPO or AMD overclocking? I built my rig last week and I havnt had time to even start messing with the Bios to set EXPO or anything else yet. I did run a quick mission for DCS with all setting to MAX just for an observation and I was amazed at the frame rates over 120 and no stuttering, My intent was to install some free benchmark software and test at these default BIOS settings to get a baseline, but havnt done so yet.
  6. I don think there is a reversal of anything. for me, it was a simple case of following the manuals instructions and plugging my AIO into the AIO header as the manual states. I had no idea that I had to set the CPU FAN in the BIOS to ignore. And that was going to cause the problem I had, and that was being able to boot up right off of the bootmanager or a bootable thumb drive. Thanks for the BIOS update tip, I have been checking daily, just havnt checked yet today
  7. I realize this is not really relevant to this thread at this point, but since I mentioned it here, I figured I would share this as my issue wasnt the BIOS at all and I resolved it via phone call to ASUS. Here is what I posted in the ASUS & ANANDTECH forums when I was trying to get some help: "Dis-regard. After 3 days, I called ASUS. Bottom line was. I had my Arctic CPU AIO cooler plugged into the CPU AIO Header, instead of the CPU Fan Header (As the manual states to do) and when plugged into the CPU Fan header now, all boots up fine. WTF with all the hours of research! At least im good now, was ready to order a new MOBO and send this one back via prime,,,,"
  8. LOL on me,,, I built my rig yesterday, updated right away to 1414 Bios and through the entire process of installing Windows 10, at no time could I get the PC to boot right up off either the Windows Bootable media or the M2 boot manager (once created) unless I go direct into BIOS and select Boot Override. Boot options are set to do so but no joy. Ive got about 10 hours just into reading and watching next to useless videos on how to setup the BIOS. It has something to do with the initial "New CPU Added" prompt when I 1st started up and the fTMP settings etc. Everything I have done so far for settings appears to be set right, but no joy. Im hoping its because its the BETA BIOS, and not something more severe. I have posts and pics over on ASUS Forums and Anandtech Forums,,, no responses since yesterday though,,,, ugggg
  9. I looked as best I could with magnifier, couldnt see well enough. Definitely something odd! Sending it back, Thank you Prime!
  10. Im still wrapping my head around this, and my parts are trickling in still. This makes me re-think something I noticed the other day. My MOBO is still in the box but I did remove its CPU protection cover to place my CPU into it, but when I removed the protection cover, I noticed 1 small spot that was reflecting the light differently then the rest, I didnt see anything real obvious so I shrugged it off and inserted the CPU. When this matter emerged, I decided to remove the CPU and check it out again. Although this "spot" is not in the same location as what I see in those burnt chip videos, I wonder if I should be concerned about this spot and send this board back for another? I dont know if this is a concern or not? Lower Left Spot, It doesnt show up as much in the photo as it does in person. In person, it really stands out. Thoughts? null
  11. hmmm, so my board (B650E-F) is not considered a high end board because its not a "-E" (Extreme)? so I should be ok ( i realize this is all still inconclusive).
  12. @BitMasterI appreciate the heads up! All my parts are rolling in, expect to be able to build by end of next week. I did read that link you provided (thank you again) and I did read the other posts here that followed. Being basically inconclusive, what would be the BIOS version recommended with current info? My initial plan was to update the BIOS before I did the build, but now Im hesitant. 13. Im in the process of a new build and stumbled across some comments about this Resizing BAR, so I did some digging to get educated. The shorter version of my findings are that I learned alot just from this video. A few things that I got out of it were: -You can manually turn it on for DCS -It does take a bit of the load off of the CPU when enabled -Reading through the comments though, it may have a negative impact in DCS and although it MAY increase your FPS slightly, it may also be creating more latency between frames resulting in more FPS, but more stuttering.
  14. it is my understanding that the closer the 1% and 0.2% numbers are to the Average FPS numbers, the better (least amount of stuttering). if i am correct, doesnt that result look unfavorable?
  15. I admit i dont know alot right now about overclocking AMD but in a recent overclocking tutorial on how to, they were pretty strict about ram being set at no more than 6200.
  16. I think we should move on until @72Stu responds otherwise.
  17. OH BOY! That is a whole different topic! I was trying to do some research on Win 10 vs Win 11 for DCS yesterday, and for the most part, the consensus was to basically stick with Windows 10 for now.. And if going to Windows 11, do a fresh install instead of an upgrade. BUT, there was no mention about DDR5 memory use, so this is indeed an interesting point. I didnt even think that it mattered, so why?
  18. @okletsgoOn a 7800X3D? I dont see your system specs?
  19. Im not familiar with your 5900X, but that just doesnt seem right to me? (pagefile issue?) I never go really near maxing out my 32 gig ram on this older build, and all I do is multiplayer. But anywho, Im wondering how the 9800X3D is doing in DCS for Ram for dugite57's new build
  20. Yes, if you look at my post above, that is 1 of the 2 boards I have highlighted in Red as 1st pick, and that is the one I am focusing on unless I find out otherwise I should be looking at something else. @dugite57Nice build sir! I cant use that motherboard because of the lack of audio accommodations on the rear I/O. I see you went with the 64gig of ram! I would be VERY interested to know how much of that ram is being used in DCS. Im on a quest to find out if 64gig is actually going to be a factor over 32gig?
  21. That board only has (6) USB-A ports on the rear panel, I need at least (8)
  22. Speaking of RAM, I just ordered the AMD 7800X3D, looking for gaming motherboard, narrowed it down to 2 so far based on my eye bleeding research. Option 1=ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi AM5 Option 2=MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk (Dont care about Gen 5 support and want full audio suite on rear panel and plenty of USB ports there as well) These boards need DDR5 Ram as I understand it. That being the case, do I really need more than 32gig for DCS? I wouldnt mind putting 64 gig in, but prices are a bit too high for wasting it. If it is highly recommended, then I will do so. Thoughts? Thanks,
  23. @motoadve I purchased on Newegg Regarding MOBO: I posted this up over at AnandTech: https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/pciex16-drops-to-x-8-when-m2-ssd-is-installed.2611401/ After extensive reading, I decided to go with the AMD 7800X3D (Purchased yesterday). Main reason why I went with AMD 7800X3D vs Intel Core i9-13900K. Heat, Watts & Gaming performance comparisons. I also have no need to concern myself with Gen 5 concerns for the near future based on most of what I have read so far. I cant count how many videos I have watched along with reading articles. I appreciate the knowledgeable feedback I have received here and will continue to post up with questions. Now the next journey begins. Selection of motherboard, then its RAM. By the way, I found what I believe to be the best informative video regarding AMD MOBO selections. This really cleared up alot of confusion for me. So far my list for MOBOs are as follows, the ones with strike through's have been omitted due to some lack of features, such as lack of full audio suite on back Panel and small amount of Rear USB ports or cost.
