  1. Yep can confirm. Patriot is inaccurate AND it uses HUGE amount of missiles, like 3 per target and all can miss by small margin In comparison SA10 have flawless accuracy Tacview-20221202-024942-DCS-PATRIOT test.zip.acmiTacview-20221202-031545-DCS SA 10 comparison.zip.acmi
  2. depends against what... If you fight against like SA-3 or SA6 Chaff if deployed correctly can be effective. Against 120s not so much
  3. Jester knows how to switch to pilot flares or chaff so just ask him, also if you use say voice attack or some macro, then you can switch in combat fairy well. Personally though I just set chaff program and let Jester use Chaff
  4. and on the handle above DDD. I think these ones are quite comfortable when RIO looks behind checking 6
  5. long range missile with 1960s tech...
  6. Comparison foto. I am in F14 and my lights are at full brightness with formation lights Yes, I know that F18 lights are "orbs of god" but you really cant see F14 lights at distances larger then Blue Angles loop formation
  7. Important! You set ALE-39 loadout in Ground Crew BEFORE you use rearming panel. Rearming process in DCS is first refueling, then countermeasures (takes like 1s) and lastly missiles/bombs. Also in F14 if you change ALE-39 loadout you HAVE to update countermeasure panel in RIO seat as well. Jester doesn't know how to do it. Otherwise if you want to drop flares, chaff may drop and vice versa
  8. wow, very spectacular Never experienced anything like that though. Did this appear in new patch?
  9. Awesome tips, and while we at it I will shamelessly exploit it Any tips on stick movements while in vertical in a way to keep speed? Is aim to make perfect vertical loop? So ease off on pull at top of circle and in dive to gain speed?
  10. it uses FLOOD mode in Boresight, so you have to keep bandit near ADL crosshair Very good to use in "dogfight" distances with ACM cover up. It shortens AIM7 launch dramatically to 1s (Have to keep bandit in HUD)null
  11. Also in that range bandit is more likely to start defense manouvers and TWS can lose track and at 20 nm and less you should use STT
  12. If you mean back to days when mk60 engine was burning for 27s, then those days are not going back
  13. I would take 10% chance over 0% every time and unfortunately vs current (100% SA) AI this behavior is much more common I think @Callsign JoNay explained it very well
  14. maybe some tweaks to guidance though? (that damn notch climb maneuver). I would point out one thing, that people say its "trash", but in comparison to what exactly? AIM120? wow a late 1960s missile is bested by missile from 1991? What a shocker. In those 20 years only other missiles which can be compared with it was AIM7 Sparrow, Matras, R24 and R27R/T variants.
  15. hoping back to RIO seat in multiplayer works very well. I do it quite often
  16. Did you got that number from some F14 crew memoirs or your personal experience? Also Sparrows love more speed and phoenix more altitude
  17. This is not new. I had that wind drift couple times now over several patches but I think that @IronMike is right though about Turning CV and Jester switching INS. It only really happen on our squadron server with script that makes ship auto turn towards wind
  18. I am asking as from your picture...
  19. Are those in any way prioritised ? Like they are showing 8 closest to our A/C etc?
  20. IDK i would check winds again. 90 kt winds? I had similar thing multiple times, I linked it with "jumping" on turning CV, but it seem ED fixed that "jumping" last patch. That F14 wind drift however.... Like idk why it goes FUBAR I fixed the system in flight by putting INS to IMU mode and entering manual wind + position update
  21. I used VoiceAttack profile by Bailey and then I added my own commands to his. His profile seem very complicated but it seems it addresses the issue. Also for my commands i always start with pressing A twice. That main Jester menu seem to be standardized in 99% of scenarios https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3308776/
  22. Not with energy to hit anything. Its fat missile, lot of drag, it was said here that max speed it can achieve is like mach 4 (and that was in very special civilian NASA experiments) but then it loses speed very fast, and that's without taking account energy wasted while turning. Yep, that's why you don't fire at bandits more then 20nm (and even then it will be a stretch) when you are low. It will be a waste of missile. 54 tries its best in the bad launch parameters it was in. Learn the limitations, learn the effective ranges. Notice that in this scenario missile climbed highest from all but it arrived with most energy at 10nm from bandit. Even though you fired at furthest targets in all scenarios. Big limiting factor of AIM54 performance in DCS is that AI is extremely good at dodging now and it got unrealistic good SA. For example it always notices the missile 10nm away from it, no matter if that missile is triggering its RWR or not. Tip: If you make AI climb to match your alt (if you launch at 40k, and bandits matches you at 40k dont dive as it will mirror your alt until your missile goes active) then aim 54 has much easier job hitting them Does lofting need tuning? Yeah it does, but as HB said, its ED who control the missile and as I understand, there is only one-fit-all loft logic in DCS and HB don't have access to it
  23. On the ground I agree, you cant disengage it with binding In the air it works though, make sure all SAS switches are on
