So, it's not a kind of ground stabilising function then?
-
I'm not suggesting it shouldn't be there, and it's great that people who want it have got it! I just would like to know how people would use it with the centralising option. I'm curious.

reported EUFD Preset steps incorrect in manual p233?
imacken replied to imacken's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ah OK, well in that case it is definitely a bug as the RTS rocker doesn't function if Presets are displayed.. Hopefully BN will pick up on this. -
I'd like to know this too.
-
Pretty sure the steps are wrong in the manual, or its a bug. P233 says 6. press preset, 7. use RTS rocker to select radio, 8. use WCA to select frequency. However, the RTS rocker does not function once preset is selected, so I think the sequence should be 7, 6 and 8.

Yep, I can see that it is useful on landing.

I've watched redkite's video more than once, but I still can't see why it helps with the centralised approach. Sorry, not being negative, I just can't see how it benefits anyone using that method. Happy to be shown the light!

You’re getting that effect in central trim mode? I see that in the other option, but not central where the trim takes effect after release and you’ve centred the controls. For me, the 3 stage process - trim, release, centre - works well after getting used to it.
-
Thanks for that. Under what circumstances would you use it and how? Afaics, it just jerks the trim back to a central position, causing large movements in the aircraft, rather than a more subtle approach. As I say, I’m interested in how this is used.

I’m not criticising, I’m literally saying I can’t see how it is useful. Please enlighten me. I’m obviously missing something.

I’m struggling to see the point of a trim reset. Very happy with the way trim works.
-
I am very happy with how the trim works - except for transferring from George back to pilot - and I cannot see what the point of the trim reset is. I know some people were crying out for it, but I just can't see what it is useful for. Can't see myself using it.

fixed internally Engine no.2 does not spool up and shuts down

Yep, that workaround works. Start 1 and 2 at almost the same time and all is good. Clearly something that needs sorting out, -

imacken replied to cgjimeneza's topic in Bugs and Problems
Can't be right. I mean lots of people - including Wags and myself - bind the power levers to both engines, so the left to Fly wouldn't work. -
I don't think I'm going mad, but I'm pretty sure these green lines and cross weren't there before today's patch. Does anyone know what their purpose is? I thought it might relate to the new 'trim reset', but I can't see it.

Here is a track. It's very basic and quick as I was trying to get below the 5Mb limit! Please tell me if there is something I am not doing here. engine 2 issue.trk -

I have exactly the same thing in every Cold and Dark Instant Action mission. Worked perfectly OK until today's patch. Has something in startup changed? -
No, it depends on what you actually do when you take control. If you look at the Controls Panel, you'll see the trim from George. If you trim from the centre position WITHOUT making any movement, the cyclic and pedals take on George's trim. Wrt the collective, I look to see the level George has it, and make my best estimate of where that level was when I take over the control again and move the collective QUICKLY to that point. I can manage this reasonably OK, but it still needs to be sorted out properly. If you don't do these 2 things, you'll spin out of control.
-
The trim is kept for pitch, roll and pedals. Look at the Controls Panel. You just need to trim before you move any cyclic/pedals.

reported earlier Kneeboard folder for Syria map PLS
imacken replied to 303_Vins's topic in DCS: Syria Map
Well, today the Marianas kneeboard got fixed, but sadly, still nothing on Syria map. Oh well, partly good news. -
Kneeboard is now working in today's patch! (Still nothing for Syria, but at least we have this working.)

Yep, that would work, but still a little messy. I feel that showing a ghost on the controller diagram makes it easy to match. pits only the collective that’s an issue. Cyclic trim transfers fine when you trim on taking control back.
-
I think you’re missing my point. When you take control back, and you slightly move your physical collective, how does that work when you may be in a very different position to the one handed over to you?

fixed KU Scratchpad Brightness Knob axis bind not working
imacken posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Don't know if this has been reported already, but the axis bind for the KU brightness knob isn't working. Binds OK to buttons though.
