Game Changer is an understatement. This sets the bar in a manner I never thought possible, and I'm still just getting used to it.

Complex. Analog. Visceral. I have but maybe an hour just feeling her out, and I'm stunned. It sounds good. It looks good. It flies good. It's so "there" I can almost smell it. Thank you HB for this dream come true.

** DCS: F-14 - Ambush! - COMING MARCH 13!! **
MurderOne replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
 -
It's the only switch I have any issues whatsoever with. Whether I'm using the "hands" as hands or as a pointer and clicking, it gives me issues.
-
So, I haven't flown in awhile, and a problem I had when I initially took a break was that toggling the launch bar was "buggy". I fly in VR, so I have to flip the lever. Either method of flipping said lever is a fight; the lever wants to stay up. Using my "virtual hands", either way, the lever wants to stay up. I always eventually get it down, but it's a fight every time. So I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if it's just an oddity; it didn't start until the "hands" were able to physically push buttons and what not. Any suggestions?

Oh. Well. Yes, please, and thank you. Fantastic!

** DCS: F-14 - Ambush! - COMING MARCH 13!! **
MurderOne replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So, I woke up today, made myself a cup of coffee, fiddled around a bit. Then checked the forums as I tend to do and what do my weary eyes see? THIS! Who needs coffee??!?!? Awesome. -
Yep. That's how I feel about it. Like I've said before, the MiG-19 isn't something that's ever really intrigued me, however, it's sitting in my hangar...so...
-
As much as the MiG-19 has never really intrigued me, and as much as I've always had a spot for the Cat, I don't see a competition here. It's not like one company pumped out an A and another company pumped out a D. That's just how I personally see it. I bought the Cat when it went on pre-sale. I already spent that money. So, the only competition, to "me", is whether to buy the biplane, the MiG-15, or the MiG-19. I don't think I want the biplane, so I'll be deciding between two MiGs. The Cat will be here before we know it, and we'll all be happy. It IS hard to wait; I check every day to see if there's anything new. I wasn't in F-14s, but my F/A-18 squadron shared hangar space and flight line space with them; and what an enormous and awe inspiring aircraft it was...I really want my own...badly. I could complain, but it wouldn't move the release any closer.

Awesome. Pretty soon I'll be able to change my signature!

I'm clearly feeling as impatient as the next guy. I want my Cat. We all want our Cat. Believe me, I get it. This time of year, I got pretty much nothing but time. That said, I still support EA and pre-purchase. Not only does it fund development, but these developers can gauge interest in what they're doing. Not by some poll, polls are rarely accurate. Cash in your pocket...that's accurate. HB has been pretty good about supporting their offerings, and generally communicate with us pretty well. I check daily, usually multiple times, to see if there's anything new on the Cat. Just like you. I'm happy with how they support their product, and mind you, they don't charge you a monthly maintenance fee. We really get pretty good deals here. If (when?) HB offers an A-6, I'll buy it. Pre-purchase, EA, whatever. They're a proven developer, they've earned my trust in the fact that they'll deliver.
-
Well, we got the EA manual, we've seen at least still pics of the RIO pit...I don't think it'll be long now.

I have also experienced this, even when changing an A/G loadout. Say I went up with 4xMk83 and 2 Mav, then RTB, land, rearm/refuel with all Mav, I still have the Mk83 on the stores page and the Mav are difficult to use. I can't explain further than that, as I haven't been flying in a bit, but I recall this issue happening.
-
Check your FCS page and make sure you're not errored (?) out (X). Run the FCS bit and clear it. Set takeoff trim.
-
I only flew the latest update for the first time today. I experienced zero flickering, tried F/A-18 and AJS-37. Nevada and PG.

I'm no official reply-er, but lately, it seems if the OB is bugged, they continue to work the OB until it's good enough for release. It happens from time to time.

** F-14 Development Update: December 2018 **
MurderOne replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Thanks for the update. While I can't speak for the community, I'm sure we all appreciate it in one way or another. -
Really glad this issue is being looked at. I find the flicker to be rather uncomfortable, and haven't been getting much seat time lately due to it. I'm in Win10 (1803), Oculus Rift, i7-8700k, 32gb, 1080ti. I've tried changing in game settings, etc, no joy.

Just youtube search "Greatest Freak out Ever" May be the same one :D

I actually pictured that guy on youtube who spazzes out terribly when I read (that post). I would like to throw my guess in the ring regarding release. It won't be today. But anytime between tomorrow and the end of winter is fair game. Hey, I'd love it to be out. I have so much more free time when the weather is like it is here in the North Eastern USA than any other time, but, I'm still getting a Tomcat.

[NOT A BUG] Turbo-prop sound is heard above mach 0.8
MurderOne replied to bkthunder's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've heard some strange sounds from the Hornets when I was in, including a strange buzz similar to what we're hearing here. For whatever it's worth, on my particular system, it is not throttle dependent, but airspeed dependent, and disappears above and below certain speeds, though I haven't checked altitudes. If you listen closely, you can hear this sound emanating from the Hornet in this video at the Mach Loop. Fast forward to 5:45 for the Bug. -
Communication with the ground crew to remove wheel chocks.

I simply can not fly without VR anymore. I have attempted in other sims I shall not name, and it's just not "there" for me. Sure, there's pretty pictures when using a monitor. But as has been previously stated, there's a big difference; looking at the sim, or being in the sim, and VR puts you in the sim. There is no "tilt your head this way" or click a button to look directly behind you. You're going to twist, stretch, move, hold yourself up from your seat a bit as you try to see what's back there. As far as putting the HMD on, if you can put a hat on your noggin, you can put a VR HMD on. It doesn't matter how you look in it, nobody is looking.

There is definitely good news; we're getting the F-14. It's all just a waiting game now, and, that's ok. I'm not a professional, but I would almost imagine pre-selling isn't to do anything other than generate revenue for whatever reasons whatever company would see fit to pre-sell. If I order Harley parts, I have to pay now, and wait for them to show up. If I special order a specific firearm from my lgs, I have to pay up front, and wait, sometimes for a long time, for it to come in. I'm ok with it, it's mine, and I'll get it when it's delivered. Yes, I want it yesterday too, but a more polished product will surely be worth the wait.
