Beautiful job guys. I've been downloading all the RAF and RN skins - much appreciated!
-
I'm going to be one of those annoying people who asks 'any news?' because I'm very interested in this product.
-
Glad to hear it is fixed, smallberries!
-
I had the exact same problem as seen in smallberries' video. Disabling 'Scale GUI' fixed it for me (although I need to see what impact that has on the GUI itself and if I can live with it). I only enabled that option when I upgraded to a 1440p screen.

UK TV viewers: F-14 and Harrier documentaries tomorrow
bell_rj replied to bell_rj's topic in Military and Aviation
Heh, yeah they have quite a bit of classic TV on. Streethawk and the A-Team too! -
Thanks fargo007 for the mission. I edited it to fly with my F5-E. Thankfully the map shows where the bandit is because the F5 radar doesn't work too well (or I don't know how to use it!) and the bandit didn't show any interest in finding or engaging me until I overshot it and went across its nose. Enjoyable nonetheless!

Thanks BitMaster. I am thinking about upgrading soon and was wondering if there was a sweetspot for vram. But it seems that almost whatever I buy in the 1070/1080 range all the vram will get used up. So that seems to be normal, rather than something to worry too much about. I am wondering what sort of vram capacity I should be aiming for for good performance?

Strangely, I seem to be using between 9.6GB - 12GB of video RAM in NTTR with a GTX 970 (which has 4GB VRAM) running at 1440p. This was measured using RCtrl + Pause x 2 in DCS. That seems much much higher than many of the figures above. Is it right?

HAVE DOUGHNUT - An F-5E Mission on NTTR
bell_rj replied to bcradio's topic in User Created Missions General
Hi bcradio, I flew your mission first time today and enjoyed it immensely. I was so busy watching the finale that I ran out of fuel before reaching Groom lake. Whoops! Thank you very much for sharing the mission. -
WOW, awesome! 2.5 in the near future. I am very excited for the release! I would like to commend ED for the open communication and hope for more of the same in the future. Oh, and as someone who loved SWOTL back in the day - WW2 planes are awesome fun and I'm very glad WW2 has a future within DCS.

UK TV viewers: F-14 and Harrier documentaries tomorrow
bell_rj replied to bell_rj's topic in Military and Aviation
If I see the Harrier one is scheduled again or anything similar I'll post it - hopefully I'll spot it earlier next time. -
Those of you in the UK with Freeview or Sky and are interested in the F-14 or Harrier might be interested in tuning into Forces TV at 0700 GMT and 0730 GMT tomorrow. I've just spotted two documentaries on these aircraft in the TV guide. No idea if the programs will be any good, mind you! If you miss those times the F-14 episode is repeated on Tuesday at 0400.

Do you realise that this is bound to happen eventually due to inflation? You cannot expect costs, and therefore prices, to remain static. The idea is that your income should also rise over time - hopefully keeping pace with or outpacing inflation.

Purchased today! Getting a teeny bit excited now.

This was a great show to watch on a PC - not as good as being there obviously but it brightened my boring Sunday evening no end. Made me very jealous of those who were there! :-) Although I kept thinking, based upon playing on the NTTR map, surely the mountains aren't that close to Nellis? I shall have to go for a flight to check it out! There were some other Vegas strip landmarks visible in the background too.

Hi Lunatic98, I sincerely apologise for unintentionally misleading you. As a Brit it is my solemn duty to inject sarcastic humour whenever possible - along with occasional understatement and references to the poor weather. I had hoped that the smiley and the reference to training with live passengers might have given the game away. I can only assume you are an American in which case I sympathise and understand your utter confusion! :-) To clarify, I would like to genuinely support the suggestion for an unlimited water option to allow for easier VTOL training.
-
Totally agree! That's why real pilots are banned from training in simulators. There's nothing like limited fuel, live passengers, and an expensive aircraft to hammer that lesson home. :music_whistling:

Great! Will you release those as user files, or are they to add to a DCS build?
-
Hi Haukka81, your post is very interesting to me for two reasons - I have a 3570k and also a GTX 970. I was wondering, did you overclock the 3570k, and if so, what to? Also, what sort of difference did you see in DCS between the 970 and 1060?
-
Heh, yeah. The professional pilots I flew with made it look easy and feel so smooth. Not a single rough edge - perfect takeoffs and landings. They have my dream job.
-
I've flown a real Spitfire LF MK IXc. This is exactly how the real thing flies. First time I got my hands on the controls at 280mph and pitched up - just a little - it was like being on a rollercoaster and my stomach went "woah what are you doing??!". And I knew what to expect, I knew to do tiny movements with my finger tips. Still my first touch was too much. It took a while to get the hang of it. So, if you want realism - you've got it!
-
That looks brilliant.
-
Hmmm I don't have any pedals yet. But you've given me an idea. Like in WWII, I could build mock up rudder pedals and put them under the desk as a decoy, and when she gets used to that swap them for the real thing!
-
She might not notice if I change the HOTAS. She may notice the rudder peddles that I also want to get when they appear under the desk!
-
...my HOTAS is. This is your fault Devs. I've just bought the F-5E and it's such a fantastic module that I'm now browsing Amazon looking for a replacement HOTAS with more buttons and switches so I can map more of the F-5 controls. What will I tell the wife? Thank you - this module was money well spent and I'm having a blast. :D
