This is great to hear! I'm just as excited about these as I am about the arrival of the F-18 and F-14.

I ejected over the Black Sea and as I approached the water in my parachute the sound of the crashing waves was very ominous and matched the new wave effects very well. It made landing in the water quite a memorable experience I can tell you! Thanks ED!

We're not just asking you, although anything you can do to help would be appreciated, we're asking ED to give more information. Whether that be via you or someone else. There certainly is available information, it's just not being given out to those (like you) who can communicate it to us. That information might be 'no progress at all since last update' or something more substantial. We'd just like to know what the situation is more often please.

Hi LOGIRich, It's good to see you posting here. I'd also be interested in buying the throttle seperately. The reason being that I have an X-55 throttle and stick from the Madcatz days. The stick is fine but the throttle has the ghost keypress and failing button issue on occasion. Other than that it suits me just right. I'd be interested in buying a newly upspec'ed, more reliable throttle if available.

I use it for the Harrier nozzle angle (just about adequate), or in F-5E the ASE-31/sight mode select (works well).

Can the same be achieved by setting 'Minimum processor state' in the 'Processor power management' section of the power plan options to 100%?

+1 It's been discussed before and this 'feature' annoys me, as well as many others it seems. This must surely be a relatively easy thing to change. A nice, easy quality of life fix that ED could do and make us happy. If it isn't easy, just let us know!

C'mon ED! This is obviously a very popular topic - look at the interest. It's so easy to provide an answer, the devs know what the situation is. Put us out of our misery please!

^^ until someone proves we aren't seeing the results of threads jumping around then no-one (apart from ED) can claim DCS 2.5 is properly multi-threaded.

Thnaks Sideslip for your detailed replies. I am using G-Sync with an Nvidia 1070ti on Windows 10 and I also have V-Sync enabled in the DCS options. I'm fairly new to G-Sync so not too familar with fast sync so thank you for your explanation. I think you are correct in your analysis and when I alt-tab DCS does stay in front of the desktop. If, for exmample, I need to change my HOTAS profile through a taskbar icon I have to force the start menu and taskbar to the foreground. I will try disabling v-sync as you suggest and setting the Nvidia g-sync setting to full screen only and see what happens then.

So I'm running DCS 2.5 in 'Full Screen' mode at high settings and getting stutter free results of between 60-90fps depending upon the scene and it looks superb. If I Alt+Tab out to another app and back into DCS, I find that the FPS halves and stutter begins. The game window looks the same - no borders/window chrome and it looks full screen. Apart from the low FPS/stutter, no-one would be any the wiser that I'd Alt+Tabbed in the first place. If I then hit Alt+Enter (which is the Windows shortcut key for switching a window between full screen and windowed) then the expected high FPS and smooth gameplay returns instantly. I see a lot of people reporting low FPS with pretty capable rigs and wondered if this issue had caught anyone out. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

I was having this exact same problem last night when I tried Mav's for the first time. I got it to work eventually - I was missing the last 'TDC Down' to enable locking to take place. Here are my notes of the process: Open Stores page on left MFCD - select IRMV Make sure store pages says RDY not STBY at bottom left (or wait up to 3 minutes) Select DMT (Sensor select aft) Slew over target using DMT screen (TDC Down + TDC POV hat) Missile uncage Sensor Select forward x 2 to select IRMV (check HUD for box around IRMV) TDC Down to enable lock Weapon pickle to fire Maverick once lock obtained Switch to external view to see pretty fireworks Crash into ground

That may be true for some, but others will hit that leanring curve and learn as they go. They may "get the bug" and start to realise that they enjoy learning the sim. If they are defeated at the first hurdle they will never get to that point. You know, some of us are busy people! If the value of something is yet to be proven, and there's an obstacle in the way, there are plenty of other things in life to do instead. A customer-oriented software developer looks at all possible barriers to usage and deals with them. Not everyone knows how good DCS is, and the value of investing time in it. For those people, they have to get into the product first and then they'll realise.

Just flew my F-5E in Caucasus for the first time. ... WOW!!!!! It's so beautiful. Simply stunning. Runs super smooth at 1440p with high settings on a 1070ti. It was worth the wait. I'm just kind flying around looking at stuff and will be for a while. No need for any of that warfighting just yet! I might even buy the CE2 just to fly it around and look at the scenery.

There didn't seem to be a thread anywhere for 2.5 screenshots and I'm getting impatient to see more whilst the update downloads. So, if you can tear yourself away from the air please post your 2.5 screenshots here!

I'm short on SSD space, so I'd prefer to use OB only for the latest features. I'd like to avoid having OB and stable installed.

Another stupid question.... Will I be able to connect to multiplayer servers running either 2.5 Open Beta or 2.5 Release with just one of those clients? Or will I need to install both to be able to connect to online servers that have chosen one over the other?

I have 2.2 installed and the files from the open beta on disk, but not installled. I hope the install will use those too.

Interesting, I want to turn mode 1/2/3 into the master mode selector. So I've just tried to do this in the X-55 software, using grid view to see the 3 columns for the mode switches, but am now stuck on how to diable the mode options. I have tried setting each one to 'No buttons' which works for one, then I get "You must change the buttons that select this shiftstate" and it is forcing me to assign another button/switch to each mode which doesn't seem right. Please could you elaborate how you did it? Sorry for jumping into the OP's post like this.

You are correct. The L replaced the G variant. I don't recall from Sharkey's book if the gun pod was ever used air-to-air against fighters.

@Beamscanner - apparently there are a load of voice warnings that are coming but not yet implemented. What that includes for the RWR I don't know. I've seen a list somewhere - perhaps in the Quickstart guide?
