Please help us to help you. You've told us nothing about your graphics settings so we can't comment. VR or not? SP or MP? I have an i7700k, 32GB and a 1070ti - so not too far off you. I'll see how the F-14 runs tonight. I am running at 1440p, non-VR with generally high settings, and would expect much more than 35fps over the ocean at that res.

DCS history: Bought FC3 many years ago - learnt the F-15 and didn't touch the other planes. I did load the Mig 29 once but couldn't understand the Russian symbols. Bought the F-5E as my first clickable module. Learnt it quite well actually. Never quite got the hang of the radar. Still love to fly this. Also Mig-28. Bought the Spitfire. Waited a year to learn it. Flown it a fair bit. Can't dogfight for nothing. Still haven't learnt it really. Landing properly is hard. Bought the Harrier. Enjoyed buzzing the taxiways of various multiplayer servers and learnt it fairly well, but then put it on hold to wait for lots more updates. Need to re-learn it. Bought the heli pack in the bundle sale 2 years ago. Have just learnt the Huey. It's awesome. Why did I wait that long? Bought the F-14. Failed miserably to learn it properly but the feeling of flying with the Meteor soundtrack was the best DCS experience ever. Bought the F-16 pre-release. No regrets, I love it. Probably the plane I know best besides the F-5E. Of the modules I fly I estimate I have learnt ~10% of what I should have.

You've got the processor I had before my current CPU. For 2012, it was a VERY nice CPU. Now unfortunately, even if you've overclocked it like I did, you've got an old CPU that is much slower in the single core clock speed stakes than mine. And I'm starting to think about upgrading mine as I've had it a while (the cost benefit isn't quite there yet though I think for me).

I have another suggestion, which is to pretend you are a real life fighter pilot in training and start with the F-5E before moving onto a gen 3/4 advanced fighter. The F-5 is a great starter fighter with clickable pit. It's not got complex or modern systems but is easy to start, fun to fly, and hard to master. You can also fly the "Mig-28" variant too. ;-) You don't have to learn the F-5, and you could jump straight into a modern fighter, but you'd be missing out on a great module.

VR or non-VR, and singleplayer or multiplayer? No stutters in 2.5.6 (with latest hotfix) here on non-VR singleplayer. I had minor stuttering in 2.5.x with 16GB of RAM. When I upgraded to 32GB it went away.

Hello, There's no encylopedia entry for the Maschinensatz 33 but it appears to be a generator that may power searchlights. Can anyone confirm this, and if so does it power any other units? Thank you.

The links do work if you open them separately. I right-clicked on each image, copied the image link, and then opened it in a new tab. A bit onerous but it worked.

Wow! You've got a system problem or system inadequacy there. Are you using an M2 SSD, a SATA SSD, or a SATA HDD for your storage? And what are your other system specs?

How did you arrive at that conclusion? I think it's false. Certainly in my case I'm not using any scripts. As far as I can see the performance issues are specifically Persian Gulf related. I've tested all maps with the F-16 and PG is the only map that has lost a lot of FPS.

I was dogfighting in the Viper last night with 2.5.6 and the combined effects of the buffet, vapour, and lighting (PG map) were amazingly immersive. I don't remember there being vapours visible from the cockpit when maneouvering hard and looking forward before but perhaps it was there in 2.5.5?

With 2.5.6 I have a significant (~50% - e.g. 50-80 to 25-40 fps) framerate reduction in the Persian Gulf map during day and night, with and without SSLR on. It looks INCREDIBLE! But the fps loss is too much and the smoothness I used to enjoy has gone. I can't say whether SSLR is the culprit, but something is not right here. I've never had this much of an impact with any other release and my hardware has always been up to the task. I have deleted shaders and cache and didn't increase/change any other graphical settings.

Thank you. While I regret that it has caused so much concern, I have learnt one thing in my professional IT career which is never assume anything! Like all those concerned I only want the best for us and a working F-14 Supercarrier combo is top of that list alongside the Heatblur Forrestral carrier, which I am also very excited about.

NO Don, BAD Don! ;) My thread is really just a place for me to understand whether my F-14 will be fully compatible with DCS:Supercarrier. I am pleased that Wags has replied and that ED understand the demand to use the F-14 on the new carrier. I will await further updates.

That's a great answer but, since you aren't ED staff, may I ask how you know? I've searched this forum but haven't found anything. It's quite possible I've missed information here or in a newsletter though.

Thinking about buying the Supercarrier but I'll want to fly the F-14 off it. Will the F-14 work as well as the F-18 would?
