  1. I have similar feelings to many in this thread. I'm seeing a slightly different issue as well, when taking off the aircraft wants to pitch up massively. I also see this in flight when at about 180mph (with a light load). I believe I have appropriate trim set prior to take off roll commencing so I'm not quite sure what is going on, or if it's just my piloting? It wasn't like this at first release. Edit: Please ignore the above, it was due to a badly behaving hotas button making the elevator trim go to max nose up.
  2. @Hawkeye60So I did some more testing and hands up, I made a mistake in installing the mods - there's no problem with the mods working. I had accidentally copied the whole structure of the mod files under tech. Many apologies! So I can now place all the units and they look great. The aerial torpedoes issue is real though - I re-tested the Algerie and also tested the Le Malin and Richelieu - and the torps pass under or through. However the torpedoes did impact the Dunkerque - 100% hits every time. So it's just the other ships where they fail. So at least I can make a mission where the bombers target the Dunkerque, and have other ships as escort but not targets for torpedoes. And the only other thing I noticed is that cannon/mg fire from FW190s seems to pass through the Algerie and Dunkerque (didn't get a chance to test that on other ships) and impact the water without causing any damage (as seen in the map unit view). Not sure if this is a DCS limitation and I suppose damage would be relatively minor, but the AI will do strafing runs after dropping bombs. They miss by a mile with the bombs but the strafing runs are on target.
  3. Great, thank you very much. Please let me know if I can help with any testing on the torpedo issue. It's odd that I can't select the units to place them in the ME. They just don't appear in any country list - and certainly not France. While the Algerie appears in many country lists. I've put each unit in its own subfolder under \mods\tech - that's correct, right? I also have the DKM naval squadron and Bismarck mods installed - they do appear as expected. I'll try removing those to see if there is a conflict.
  4. Hi, Firstly thanks for your work on these mods. I need some help please. I downloaded and installed the Algerie, Dunkerque, Richelieu, and Le Malin (in latest DCS beta) and put them all in their own subfolder in \Saved Games\DCS\Mods\tech but only the Algerie appears as a placeable unit in the ME. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Aerial torpedos dropped from a JU88 run right under or through the Algerie. Is that expected? AA fire works really well so I enjoyed watching the JU88s get shot down. Thanks!
  5. Prototype is exactly it. The Hurricane design has its roots in that biplane in the video. Then they took the upper wing off and the rest is history.
  6. Well the strange thing is, some (considerable) time after I originally posted about it the bug stopped happening for me. I can't say why. Maybe it was a change in game or Nvidia control panel setting. I've also changed graphics card since then.
  7. The forum notified me about your post, and I'm glad to read that what I and others posted years ago has helped you!
  8. Maybe you've played the Mossie a lot and got used to it? Personally, I find the delay very jarring. It really sticks out to me. I cannot believe that the delay (which lots of players have also noticed, so I know I'm not going mad) is realistic. It certainly feels too slow. Please get the team to investigate it.
  9. I'm just reading the Battle of Britain by James Holland (which is an excellent book BTW) which mentions about halfway through that many shooting opportunities lasted for a split second and were then gone.
  10. I'd love to know that too, just from a historical curiosity perspective.
  11. I just played on this server tonight for the first time and even got a PVP kill! My only complaint was that Mossies based at Hawkinge can only just about make it off the airfield there. It's a bit short. I and a few others crashed into the trees at the boundary. Great settings though on the server - a nice blend of fun and accessability for those who are new to MP servers like me.
  12. Hi NineLine and BillyCrusher, I just experienced the same thing so I saved the track. It happened just as I damaged my aircraft with my own bombs at 8:02:03. That report of battery destroyed and overheated also at 8:02:03 seems suspicious to me - might be linked? Please enjoy this display of terrible bombing technique - lol. Hope the track file helps! /edit: so I watched the track file back and it shows me piling into the ground just after the bomb hit which isn't what happened. So I don't know how useful this will be. I can see that the damage report is preserved in the brief so hopefully this will help. You'll have to take my word for it that the gunsight symptoms I had were the same as StolenPen's. rail hub terrible bombing.trk
  13. Make sure you have no slip (check the slip indicator) going on when you drop the bombs.
  14. This works great, thanks! I placed the objects around Manston on The Channel map and it was easy to take off with those in place. It takes a lot of work in the ME (I'm not too familiar with the ME so there may be shortcuts and tools I'm not aware of) to place the lights correctly - obviously not a criticism of your mod at all - so doing it for every airfield would take a long time, but for a single mission this is magic! Thanks for your efforts, razo+r!

    Runway lights

Let's not be stereotypical flight sim nerds about this and focus on the details to the detriment of the issue - which is that in the game it is impossible to see to land in the dark. In real life, 'things' were done to alleviate that (eating more carrots, anyone? ) and so the game would benefit from some sort of illumination to help with night landings. Nice! Going to check this out, thanks!

pocketedition, You should probably research FIDO.

    Runway lights

+1 for this!!! Taking off without any visual reference is hard.
  18. Soooo... this was an interesting result. razo+r was actually the closest to the truth when he suggested I might still have power to the engines. I loaded the take-off practice mission, ensured throttles were at idle but was still taxiing forward. After checking the Axis controls it turns out that I'd adjusted the throttle Saturation to 60 yesterday (in an effort to make the throttle response a bit slower) and this meant that I was unable to throttle back fully, so when I was trying to land yesterday both engines had too far much power. So that's why I couldn't land! A bit embarassing but a lesson learnt!
  19. Today's patched has tuned the behavior - it'll still exist but will take longer to trigger apparently.
  20. Good news! The Cut-off levers are fixed according to the patch notes (and Bignewy on Discord).
  21. This made me laugh! I tend to be a bit too impatient in my flying - i.e. go for short finals. I think you are all correct and I was too fast on finals (also possibly too high) and at the threshold. Thanks everyone for the input and I shall enjoy practicing tonight!
  22. So there I am, in my Mossie with about 50% fuel and no bombs, trying to land at Manston. Went through the checklist so engines are at full RPM, and flaps are down full (because the checklist says so). Throttles at idle and I float over the threshold at about 135mph and boy, I just cannot get this thing to want to land. It's floating on a cushion of air. I certainly can't align the top of the wiper blade with the horizon either for a decent landing. I'm looking to do a decent landing rather than pile it into the runway and I can't do that with the lift I have, so I go around, and this repeats several times until I give in and raise the flaps. This makes quite a difference and I lose enough lift and... smash it into the runway, oops. Are you landing with full flap?
  23. Yes agreed. I flew The Channel Free Flight mission last night where you can follow two Mossies on a tour of the RAF fields. To stay at their speed I had to reduce throttle to where I had the warning horn constantly. Perhaps its realistic, I don't know, but it doesn't feel right to me.
  24. I'm also interested - anyone know which is 'best' in various circumstances - against fighters, bombers, ground targets - AP or ball ammo?
  25. Oooh, an interesting idea. I never even knew about that. Interesting idea! I will try it out tonight. Page 88 of the manual covers the Weapon Heating Lever. I'd guess this would effective at low temps/high altitudes only though?
