  1. Came here to see if this issue was logged and I see it is. So I shall just say that I've seen the multi-tail issue on crashing into the ground when I fly. Also, in this video at 7:00 you can see the tail detach but a tail still remains in place. Hope this helps in some small way with the ongoing work. BTW, the module is brilliant, and I am looking forward to receiving improvements in the coming weeks/months.
  2. It is very satisfying after a mission to go through the events in the Debriefing screen and see what I hit and what I killed, as well as what hit me and what damage was caused (with the new WW2 damage model being awesome for this). However the sheer number of events (especially when every flak battery shot is registered) makes for a lot of events to sort through to find the treasure. I would like to suggest two enhancements to the user interface: 1. The event filter to be changed to be a multi-select - e.g. so I could select 'hit' AND 'kill' and see clearly what hits led to what kill being achieved at the same time. 2. The event filter to allow events or specific units to be filtered out - e.g. so I could remove all events from a unit, or hide a specific event type generated by any unit. I'm sure there could be other useful enhancements but these would be my top suggestions. Thanks for considering my ideas.
  3. Has there ever been any mention by ED of providing some sort of AI navigator/observer? I think it would be an awesome addition if they did it. I'd like to be able to ask my nav to assess fuel state and battle damage. /Edit: I see that the Mossie product page says: This sound like it might be what I'm hoping for perhaps? Is ther any further info anywhere on how this might work?
  4. Nice! That RAF article is well-worth the read - especially the anecdotes about being in flak over Berlin - wow, quite something to read that.
  5. Yeah I saw this also. Feels very weird - can't believe it'd be like that in real life.
  6. Big well done to the devs because while they can't use the 633 Squadron theme, the wallpaper theme music they have provided is a very good substitute.
  7. I totally disagree. I think we've been well informed along the way, plus ED told us what the reason for the delay was. We've had various updates in newsletters this year and numerous, numerous questions asked on Discord about Mossie updates (feels like every 5 minutes on the WW2 channel someone asks "so any mossie news?") answered by NineLine and Bignewy. So I don't understand your justification for you pushing your 'vapourware' point as if there's any basis to that whatsoever. We all knew what was happening and we all knew it was being worked on.
  8. I'm not saying there won't be a variant with Merlin 21's, but a recent dev cockpit screenshot showed a plate with "Merlin 25" mentioned. See: https://imgur.com/a/v5OCPzh
  9. I can't remember my exact thoughts when I saw the announcement but there were probably swear words involved. Eurofighter is now a nailed-on day 1 purchase. This announcement must be up there with the very best of all-time DCS World news. Amazing news, well done HB and TG!
  10. You are very kind, thank you. I hope you found the mission file useful.
  11. Sorry to butt in, but are you referring to the re-designed elevator horns that came in with the VII? Yes, this helped restore the balance in more ways than one - the IX replacing the Vb also enabled the RAF to compete with the FW190 so restoring the balance in fighter performance between the two airforces. I like that 'symmetry', for want of a better word.
  12. I need rockets before I'll buy. I hate to say that, because I really am excited about the Mossie generally. It should be awesome to fly. But for me, I'm most excited about flying anti-shipping missions with rockets. I hope they are adding those in as we speak!
  13. To add to your point, it would be good to hear about the major cloud enhancements still to come and their development order - or even timescales if at all possible. I am keen to know roughly where in the priority order blocking of AI vision by clouds is. It's fundamental to dogfighting and surprising AA defences (especially for WW2) so I'd like to know if we can expect it in the short term or long term, just to manage my expectations.
  14. Fantastic work! Very pleased to see Cyprus and RAF Akrotiri added.
  15. I've flown a real Spitfire IXc. Yes, the pitch is very sensitive indeed. Before my first flight I knew from reading WW2 pilot accounts what it was going to be like, my instructor warned me, and I was fingertipping the control stick, and STILL my stomach went when I pitched up for the first time because I overdid it. I did find banking to be a lot easier to control properly/accurately the first time I tried it.
  16. I hope the delay allows ED to add rockets in. That's what I want the Mossie for - rocketing ships and trains and tanks. If it just comes with bombs I'm going to be so disappointed - bombs are not as exciting to me.
  17. Yeah 2.7 has gone backwards in regards to AI crash landing behavior. I watched numerous German warbirds gliding with engines out and then attempt to either bail out at 50ft or mostly crash into trees instead of picking a nearby empty field. One pilot even glided parallel to his own runway and then crashed into the ground instead.
  18. I too would like to know how "my target" is decided. Same question applies when flying other planes too - like the Spitfire, for example.
  19. Your RAM and graphics card are good. CPU is a little old though. What storage are you running on? I run a 1070ti at 1440p and that's perfectly good with pretty high graphics settings. But my CPU is fairly new although I have a 7700k @ 4.5GHz before that which was also fine.
  20. Apparently the US is building a divert airfield on Tinian as a satellite airfield for Guam. Will this be in the map, I wonder? https://www.saipantribune.com/index.php/torres-says-investors-are-now-expanding-to-tinian/ The lease was signed last year so ED may be aware already, but it seems that the Marianas are becoming increasingly important in the US Pacific strategy.

  21. What happens if you press ALT + ENTER (toggles full screen). Try it a few times.
  22. Ooh interesting! What other work is being done at the moment? Any chance of bombs being added to the JU-88?
  23. Wow, what an OP. Where do I start. With the easy thing I reckon - engine management. You are wrong about it. Thankfully, it's easy to manage and very forgiving. Just don't stall (a pilot responsibility, bien sur). Now I did believe, before I started flying the Spit, that engine management would be very difficult because of what people had posted. Once I'd got some flying time under my belt I realised my misconceptions were just that. You don't need to keep watching the dials once you understand the relationship between RPM, boost, oil temp, water temp, and air speed. Instead experience will teach you how long you have at a particular power setting, and when you need to pay closer attention to the dials. Is our Spitfire slow? Yes, relative to the competition. It's hard to fight against the fast climbing German fighters in the vertical. The horizontal turn game is where you want to be. .303 machine guns. Yes, awful but historically accurate. But be efficient with your cannon use and you'll be fine. Take-offs and landings. They are hard. I can generally land but end up sideways. Take-offs sometimes go that way too. All pilot induced, not the Spitfires fault. Flak - very dangerous - just as it was in real life. Do try to avoid it and you'll do much better. I feel the realism in terms of flak damage is very good based upon my reading of various military history books. If I may advise you, try not to bring any preconceived ideas or perceptions to the Spitfire. Get a good chunk of experience under your belt, then see how you feel. Right now, you aren't qualified to make any judgements. Your lack of knowledge of engine management proves that. The good news is, it shouldn't take that long to get to a point where you've got a decent handle on how the Spit performs. I hope you enjoy your learning experience. I can't say it's all enjoyable - but it's satisfying when it starts to click. Good luck!
  24. I created this mission template to use it as a starting point for other Allied missions by placing historically deployed AA defences at Luftwaffe airfields. Please note that you need to edit this mission to get the best out of it. I have included Allied A-20 bombers to attack Saint Omer airfield, German fighters to intercept and a playable Spitfire slot + wingmen as a starting point but I am not an accomplished mission editor. This mission is intended to give you the historical air defences so you can create cool missions on top of it. I have also added in lightweight defences to the French ports and some to English ports and airfields in case you get followed home after a mission. V0.1 23/11/2020 includes: HAA at all Luftwaffe airfields - These are Flak 37 sites due to the 1944 timeline of the Channel map. Flak 41 deployment was apparently restricted to Germany due to servicing complexity. Each HAA position has 4 guns - this seemed to be standard - unless records indicate otherwise. There are no records that I've found showing where around each airfield the HAA or LAA batteries were exactly deployed, so I've had to guess. LAA at all Luftwaffe airfields - the numbers match historical records for each airfield but there are no known deployment locations apart from a general radius given from the airfield. Searchlights - there are no available records. I have sprinkled a few here and there. Barrage balloons - I haven't been able to find any record of Luftwaffe airfields deploying barrage balloons, like they did for German cities and other installations. So there aren't any. Ports - I have added LAA, searchlights, and some Schnellboots for target practice. These are not historical accurate and are total guesses (probably too light, but the focus is meant to be airfields anyway). Cows! French cows are loitering suspiciously by one of the HAA sites. They should not be trusted. I hope you find this useful. I welcome any comments and suggestions for improvement.
