  1. i don't think they mean it. that is, they buy it to support ed, but they would really prefer something else. afterall, we were originally attracted to dcs by the prospect of modern, high fidelity combat aircraft, not airshow attractions.
  2. i read in another thread someone was talking about cluster bombs giving single digit frames, and he mentioned a potential solution about different explosion effect for cluster bombs/submunition dispensers. i think that would work. currently, explosions are more of less procedurally generated. each weapon is assigned a few values such as explosion radius, size, dust generation, etc. for a cluster bomb or submunitions, the game renders a few hundred instances of smaller versions of those same particle effects, nearly simultaneously.
  3. could ed be hinting at canopy rain effects? could be a double entendre "splash screen" we know of no effects that product that type of vapor trail. neither missiles, smoke pods or contrails have that transparent globular look.
  4. i was just wondering if this was normal, but looking at explosions caused by submunitions dispenser, my fps dropped to the negative range. as in for a few seconds the game just froze. it doesn't matter what distance. as long as the explosions are rendered, the game freezes for a few seconds. if you're looking away from it, there's no problem. almost all explosions cause this stutter, except most explosions happen in less quantity. but submunitions dispensors release hundreds of small bomblets. if this isn't just on my end, is there a solution for this? perhaps a simplified explosion model for submunition dispensors?
  5. disagree. i think they got it from precision modeling as it has normal maps, env maps on the canopy and other details. the valery model looks very dated.
  6. for third parties? i hope that's not an exclusive group. as for complaints and accusations, i think modders need to get thicker skin and people should also not expect modders to be sensitive or easily annoyed. so what if people keep asking if it's finished? just ignore them.
  7. ubisoft has taken every respectable franchise and turned it into garbage. just under the tom clancy banner there's ghost recon, rainbow six, and splinter cell.

  11. heh, i just set the graphics options to whatever i like, then put the file as read-only. performance is about the same.
  12. on the right upper corner. i get these little black and white chevrons, sometimes it morphs into something resembling a grey scratchmark i7 930 3gb ram gtx 460 1gb ram no heat issues, doesn't show up in blackshark 2. i'm thinking it might be due to the 2d cockpit of the su25t.

    other sims that have thousands of trees can do this, why not dcs?
  14. it's a browser based f2p mmo. the screenshots already show 1999 level graphics.
  15. i didn't like it. mainly because it was still an old model without normal maps, the su-25 looked much better.

  19. the steam key doesn't work with ed products. black shark on steam is a dead end. buy black shark 2 upgrade package from ed if you want dcs world support in the future(this may be subject to change however, as they might make a black shark 3)

    Red Tails

    i hope this trend ends. these movies are way too flashy and wanting to be entertaining. they try too hard to be a simpleminded spectacle and not hard enough to engage you on any deeper level. even as a kid i started growing tired of them. now before you say i'm prejudging the film, i'm not, i'm simple responding to the aesthetics, which are readily apparent from the trailer and the plot. this looks like tuskegee airmen: michael bay edition.
  23. terrible. you can tell how awful a game is by the abundance of gimmicks. and why is the sniper wearing some shitty heroic gear that never existed in reality? saw an entire level once. laughed off my seat. you can snipe a bunch of guys from a vantage point 50 feet away from the enemy position and try as they might to kill you, they just can't. 5 minutes of bloody screen later, you just killed 50 soldiers on your own with the help of exploding barrels.
