  1. I would actually get a passion for the Mi-8 if it became multicrew. This post must not be shut down, especially if people have been waiting this long.
  2. Shoot, I never noticed that. Has the undercarriage CB been fixed as well? And the inertial starter sound fixed too (when pulling the handle up)?
  3. I thought it was just me mishearing things. Cool beans
  4. Burning Skies has hosted events, and get really involved with their players, something I haven't really seen any of the other WWII servers do. If I wanted to create a WWII server (I do actually, but don't have the schedule or resources to), I'd set up elaborate missions, that rotation idea was really good, so I'd work something like that in, I'd host many events and competitions (and advertise them, as is already done here, Hoggit and Facebook), and have a dedicated website. With all that, particularly the events, I think I could gradually get some people to roll in. The next best server to BS currently is SoW, but it's more of an open personal server than a straight public one, so it's a bit more closed off. Going to go take a look at the I-16 trailer now...
  5. YES! YES!! A Mustang 3 for the D-day planeset, Gustavs, and a '45 map that would include West Germany, for the later war aircraft to tango in...I'm game! Tbh, as more and more aircraft start rolling in, I'd like to see mid (or maybe early hopefully) war and late War aircraft seperate. If not on servers, then at least on the maps. A '45 map would help to seperate these two, between the '45 map and Normandy. I know some people belly ache about stuff like, “oMg DoNt SePaRaTe ThE pLaYeRbAsE”, but I think in this case, it would be healthy to the playerbase to set boundaries between these two. This shouldn't be much of an issue until we get more aircraft though, both late and mid-war.
  6. Yeah, I edited my post just before you posted to clarify [emoji1303]
  7. Alright, fair enough. That was exactly what I meant. Pacific Theater, not ETO. Because I want a historically accurate matchup. We have the Normandy map, we should have planes that fit it. So far that's just the Spitfire Mk. IX and Anton. These are the first aircraft that have made a blatantly historical pair with each other, as well as the map in DCS, so I'm hoping it will be built on. This is also one of the things keeping some people away from DCS WWII, the unhistorical matchup, and those people will instead go to or stay with IL-2. "It's got nothing to do with balance." Hoho...oh man... You have NOT been on Burning Skies [emoji1787]
  8. Heh, a bit off topic, but the Spitfire's cockpit layout is actually one of the things I like about it. [emoji12] I don't have issues with reading the dials, but all the levers that haphazardly stick out into the cockpit (while the 190 and P-51 have very flush cockpits) are one of the things that appeal to me. It feels kinda steampunk, minus the steam part.
  9. Bar is a terrible way to describe it, as it will only confuse people. The bottom edge of the armored glass is not transparent (and refracting light like it should), so it is blocking the view ahead of the gunsight partially. It isn't much hindrance at all though, and doesn't make it any less capable of an aircraft. It's the latest warbird, so it has been done with the latest technology. Visually, it's one of the best looking aircraft currently. Textures and model are well done, as is the normal mapping. It is a new plane though, so it does have its bugs, but they really don't take away from the experience a lot. It handles like a school bus at low speeds, so you have to be fast. The armament is very heavy on the plane, and its victims. It will pulverize anything that crosses the gunsight. Of course, this makes it a particularly effective aircraft for ground attack. It's honestly a wonderful plane.
  10. Be sure to buy the Anton and Spitfire as well. Those two are even mode gorgeous!
  11. So, I've used the autoexec in the Config folder. My lines are: mount_vfs_liveries_path ("C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\Liveries\P-51D") mount_vfs_texture_path ("C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\WWII Units\P-51D\Textures\P-51D") However, it still does not work. Textures do not load upon loading the model, and there are no options available in the Liveries tool. Same goes for the Spitfire. Are WWII aircraft different, not requiring "mount_vfs_..."? I get the missing texture on my aircraft. This is incredibly aggravating, and I'd like a solution
  12. I can't post a link, but give it a google.
  13. In DCS, there are runways that aren't level, but they're flat. I've never encountered one, or at least noticed one that had essentially woopdies in it. If there are, could someone point out an example?
  14. By default, upon spawning in, the elevator trim is set for landing, actually, at +2. Takeoff setting is full right rudder, and elevator trim at neutral (middle of indicator), or slightly higher.
  15. Honestly setting the trim to -1 seems a bit extreme. I set mine to +0.5. It's a personal preference though, so cheers [emoji12][emoji482]
  16. Odd. After the update, I didn't detect any issue. I dove on a 109 with my 51, and with a long 2 second burst, I knocked off his tail and he flat spun into the ground, and before that I did a similar tactic and burst length, and knocked off a 109's left wing. What I do have a hard time with is the A8. I can pump another few hundred pounds of lead into a 190A8, and it will still tick its way back home, fat and happy [emoji16]
  17. 16m/s is a bit meh, but 20m/s sounds pretty solid, for a steady and sustained climb. I've been doing ground pounding in the Anton thus far, and it's quite good at it. Hits planes pretty hard too. Occasionally I've caught a foolish Mustang. But other times the Mustang is challenging to even try to get my sights on. I've found the best way (for every plane, but particularly the 190A8) is to surprise someone. A 2 second burst lays down some much lead, there isn't often a need to come around a second time, like some aircraft. [emoji12]
  18. I can't say about rain drops. The Mustang has them, that's all I've ever flown in rain though. The Spitfire is the most beautiful imo, however the new 190A8 looks stunning as well. The Mustang is the least gorgeous with the graphics engine, in that the texture resolution is on the lower end (it is the oldest warbird, to be fair). However, the “unpainted” wings don't look right at all. Rather nasty actually. Instead of being the aluminum paint color they should be, they're nearly stark white. This issue comes down to the roughmet map for the wings. The lack of a blue channel is one of those problems and the extreme of the green is one of those issues.

  20. I'd rather a plane more fitting to the Normandy d-day setting. In that case, I believe a Typhoon would be the better option.
  21. There is no working SRS for BS
  22. Obviously.... I'm talking about cooling. “Breaking point”
  23. Where has this video been for 6 years of my life? [emoji1787]
  24. I wonder how higher octane would affect the engine's limits and breaking point, if at all. [emoji848]
  25. ALT+B to open briefing and look at the photo. The grid coordinates do not match the F10 map, so you will have to look at landmarks like rivers and towns, as well as headings. Eventually you have the locations memorized. All the target areas look similar, so you will recognize them when you see them. Sometimes look for smoke, if other players are attacking them.
