+2 Please continue to fix and update the server between releases of modules, eekz. BS is looking kinda neglected, and for a while.

Sarcasm? Surely.

Looks like he just let it free fall and figure itself out, couldn't see any movement in the tail on the way down. Right rudder was used increasingly as speed decreased in the climb. He started dropping his flaps before he was at a standstill or started falling though. Cutting throttle can also bring your nose to the center. That's just what I see in the video, though

Can we get some life into these warbirds? ( Engine management)
Magic Zach replied to hazzer's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I'm just going to say that the start-up is way too linear in DCS. I could start the Mustang blindfolded and sound muted every time. We need some dynamics there that actually make you have to pay attention, and doesn't make start-up so easy all the time. I heard A2A did a good job on theirs, hopefully if ED and A2A pair up, we can get some changes done to our carbureted engines. I'd also love to see more visual effects, like cold start smoke, and fire (where appropriate out of the stacks), like when overpriming for instance. As I posted above, there are also NO coolant and aftercoolant vents in the DCS Mustang. They're not even minimally textured. -

To clarify, I'm in the ground, so as far as I can tell, it is correct.

This reminds me of the elevator trim and prop wash effect I see on the Mustang (haven't tried other aircraft, just something I noticed). Trim the elevators down in the Mustang, leave your stick neutral, and increase throttle, and you can see the in-game stick pitch forward with the thrust increase. Just goes to show how detailed these modules are. [emoji4]

Cant decide if I want the mig-19 and fw-190 a8
Magic Zach replied to agentdarnell's topic in DCS 2.9
If you've bought everything else, I honestly don't see what difference it makes, as you'll buy these two anyways. [emoji51] As for the Anton, it is not a high altitude performer like the Dora, and is not as fast in level flight and climb (haven't tried dive). It does however still hold it's own, at least in multiplayer. The best tactic is to bounce (and that goes for every aircraft), sneak up on them while they never knew you were there, and pump hot lead into them. The two best things about the Anton are how resilliant they are to damage, and how heavily gunned these things are. A quick squeeze of the cannons, and a plane is dead. I recommend it. I don't have the MiG-19, but the texture and 3D model quality is horrid. That's all I can say about it. -
missing texture in P-51 mirror and back seat
Magic Zach replied to ctguy1955's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Go to the DCS folder in Saved Games, and delete the fxo and metashaders2 folder. This should work. In the event it doesn't, delete the P-51 cockpit texture zipped folder. Should be in the main DCS folder, Mods, P-51, cockpit, textures. Then run a repair. -
It is only meant to be turned on until you reach critical altitude. If you want realism, you set it to ON at the critical altitude, like I've been saying, again. I really, REALLY don't think you two are even reading what I'm saying, and only little key words that look interesting. I'm done arguing. If you want to fly the Spitfire improperly, have it your way. I've tried to help, but you guys aren't willing to listen, and trying to teach two people in denial has gotten old and exhausting. Good day o7

Regardless, it is best to turn on the tank pressure anyways, even if you don't experience any adverse effects. Because for A: realism and B: just in case you did need it, you already have it on.
-
Well, to be honest, that's unusual. While I haven't gone to 43,000, I have climbed to about 30,000, and my engine would not allow me to pass through 17,000 while I was climbing. It wasn't until I turned on my tank pressure that my engine stopped giving me problems. To not have any effects from having the pressure off at such an altitude is strange. I can try running some experiments when I get home, but that's in 1.5 weeks :(

Once the template is out, I'll tackle these.

Commenting to give this thread a bump. Still waiting...eagerly.

Just because the engine dies (without damage or overheat) does not mean it is the fuel pump. While it could be it (very possible) it does not mean that it is. Just because you had problem X, and found solution Y, does not mean solution Y is the only possible solution for everyone else's seemingly similar problem. So, maybe it is the fuel pump, maybe it isn't. Until the OP provides more details (like the fuel pressure lamp), or at this point, merely reads the replies, will there be a definite answer. 1And the autostart doesn't miss it, it excludes it. It is, as I said, only to be turned on after takeoff.
-
No, see my post above. It is not for emergency. It is possible that it could be the fuel pressure. I haven't considered this. In this case, we can't determine what the problem is, based off what's provided in the OP. We need to know of the fuel pressure lamp turns on when the engine dies. If it does, turn on the fuel pump. If it doesn't, turn on the tank pressure. “high altitude” isn't a number. To me, it's 12,000ft and up, so I immediately went to the tank pressure. But that depends on what your opinion of what “high altitude” is.
-
Better described here
-
The fuel pump is for all use while in-flight, and is only off while on the ground. The tank pressure is used for all times when at high altitude, about 16,000ft in my experience. If off, the engine will fail exactly as described in the OP. There are no adverse effects of turning it on while at lower altitudes, at least none that I've noticed. Some folks even include turning the tank pressure on as part of their startup procedure.
-
This. Sounds like the tank pressure valve is off. Need to turn it on when climbing.

iirc, the Anton was historically a sturdy bird. Though the lack of change to aerodynamics is odd. I imagine ED didn't put too much effort into the Anton, because within a matter of months it wouldn't matter anyway, with the new DM coming.
-
I have to agree though, this is a good time for a compromise. If we can't have refraction, then we can at least make it transparent, like the rest of the glass. For the Dora as well.
-
KA-50. It's an all-round bada#% machine.
-
So now that we have the Anton......
Magic Zach replied to DefaultFace's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
IIRC the Anton is initially an AI listed in the WWII Assets pack, and they eventually just created a full module. Which is awesome. I'd like to see that happen for a Gustav and the Gooney Bird [emoji16] -
