Apart from "customized" aircrafts it does look exactly like the latest ace combat/hawx type air shooter. Not a bad thing for MOST, but might be a bad thing for the community purists. I'm always interested to see new flight games that come out, it's just unlikely I will purchase something like this. Apache Air assault does have SOME of my attention the way wings of prey did, but Radikal Combat doesn't interest me all that much. Thanks for posting though, +1 for the "radikal find" :)

Not sure if it's the smoke effects killing the fps as opposed to the number of ballistics in the air and all the calculations being made for each individual one. Again I'm not saying this as fact, just a potential reason.

Guys this is a bit off topic, but I'm curious to know how you find the Logitech hotas with Black Shark/DCS A-10C. I wouldn't mind getting all three, stick, throttle and rudders for $250 vs $500 for warthog...(although she looks VERY nice). Rocking the x52 now and it works nicely for all my sims, but she's showing her age...whatever advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Well if apache air assault or wings or prey don't have fancy graphics they would be empty shell games with hardly any longevity beyond what they already have. Flight sims with huge draw distances can't be compared to fps or racing games either, they have creative ways of hiding view distances. There's also a difference creating a landless with roads etc the ground ai can react and understand, fsx has no ground ai and therefore any texture can be mapped in. Regardless of the views or opinions of individuals this graphics debate will go on forever. Not everybody will be satisfied. The very title of this thread indicates a (no offense to author) lack of understanding behind the scenes in the games being compared.

A better understanding of what DCS series accomplishes vs Apache Air Assault or wings of prey would answer this question.
-
I didn't realize you could play as a HIND that's cool. What aircrafts can you fly? It would be cool to have add ons as Blackhawks as KIOWA's.
-
That is cruel, that is cruel indeed. I guess the best we can do to combat it is spread the word of it's corruption. Sorry for the fellas who bought it this way though, lesson learned and at least hopefully they can have some fun with the product.

Would be nice, but these maps are small by comparison and I'm sure the fog/clipping would be atrocious at 12,000 feet never mind 20,000 feet ;).

I cannot believe this illegal type of distribution has not been shut down yet, WTF is going on here.

It looks alright for what it is, entertaining that's for sure. These types of games back jn the 90's are what made me want to get into flight sims. Looks like a helicopter version of wings of prey, fun can be had and you're not any less of a flight sim enthusiast for enjoying it.

Nice links, thanks for posting hadn' seen the p47 one (+1). Maybe bob sow will include some of these adjustables in their release. A2A's p47 with accusim gives you a taste of all the systems of flying these planes outside of throttle full dog fighting that's for sure. For a new pilot in combat to fight and manage would be daunting. The pilots who succeeded were the ones who could push their birds to the edge. Wrong mixture, poorly managed engine etc could end things really soon in a dogfight. Fuel gauges, navigation (visual) turning weather on top of that.

This would be the coolest thing ever, it has been discussed to death in here though. It's every hardcore simmers dream, very unlikely to happen though...not for a commercial market anyway. Perhaps one day I'll eat these words.

BOOTcamp 100% Forget all other means, she runs native (or practically) and I've been flying sims with it for the last few years no problems. Bootcamp GO!

me too ;) The open beta has been an amazing experience for me. I don't know HOW, but flying the A-10C has actually made me a better/more deadly KA-50 pilot. I find when I take a bit of a break from the learning, I can come back to a different level of understanding of certain procedures. It's as if I've suddenly become an expert at one thing or another.

Jetstream is a great show. Love going through the training experience with those pilots.

It will be new that's the point. No sim has ever done what dcs has done (minus "dynamic campaign"). Any aircraft no matter how many sims they have made in the past. Don't worry about op force, you can hve red and blue f-16's a 10's and 50's on the same side shooting real player op force. Until there are like 5 or 6 modules you're not going o get a realistic side vs side matchup. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'll be happy with whatever aircraft they decide to do. Harrier, apache, mig, su whatever. Ps sorry about some missing letters, tired iPhone in cold weather. -

To be fair to the f16, simming a 10 year old "gem" vs a new flight model, proper 3D pit and ballistics complete with supporting a10c's is not something any of us have played with. I would welcome it with open arms personally. She's fast, capable and deadly. Of course I'd be happy with all your suggestions, just needed to defend the viper ;). -
Outstanding SHU, thanks for much for your time and hard work! + LOTS

It's a great venture, I wonder how it would/can handle a combat environment. It definitly has a lot of potential, but will probably be a little while before we get a chance to experience it.

I agree, plus commenting on Nevada wip is a little premature.

I would bet either 64A, f18 a or c model, f16....maybe a russian bird, but I feel the American planes might have more earning potential. I'd be happy with anything really, I'm lucky that I don't and never really have had a favorite fighter plane/helicopter. Kinda like them all for different reasons. -
A later build of Storm of War will probably yield a high fidelity 262, better chance than DCS doing one ;). As for the F16, yes it has been DONE before, but it hasn't been done a la ED. VERY big difference and it is multirole which be a huge asset to gameplay. I'm not an F16 fanboy by any means, but just saying.:joystick: PS: SOrry I just noticed the title of this thread is steam and I ran way off topic...apologize. Steam is alright if you like steam...<-- that's all I can add to that.

True, but I like the quality control that comes from ED and it's not just about airframe. It's the entire modified package/improvments of each module over their successor. Superbug took a few years to modify for fsx, it would be a ground start pretty much to bring it to DCS series. -
$125??????? Jeez, that's a price point to complain about.
