This has got me thinking, is there a way to switch off the motion blur altogether?

Loving the last two!
-
I love the second, that's really awesome, but may I make a few suggestions? First off the blue: The helecopter needs going down and right a bit, one of the rotor blades is very close to your text. If your going overlay do it, if your going to space do that, at the moment the text and image are just a little in the middle. The black one: I would make the text font size far smaller (half again at least?) which would really make it look more subtle. Good work though, like I said that second one is brilliant...I wish I had thought of that idea :D

It's a standard type filter you find in a lot of design/editing programs (especially ones Adobe do), it's a sort of an art or brush effect. Precisly which one is difficult to tell as there are a lot that are very similar and you can tweak each one of them. Oh and to the OP CTRL+Y twice is your friend!

I think it's worse...BA BOOM! No it's comming on well, the colours don't match up overly atm. I don't know if it's your plan to colour match them but I think it's what makes the joins most noticble. I am talking about the runway/parking taxi colours btw.

Ah that's the problem :D Seriosly though, it's perception most likely. Yes consoles don't look as good, but I don't think to the extent that you have seen. They are usually running at 1280x720 and as has been said with lower texture quality. BUT the differences in the scale of things are quite slight.

It does.

If I rememeber correctly you can get a Saitek x36 (but it's not called that) AceCombat 6 joystick for the 360.

No your looking at the same games, but your standing/sitting directly in front of it. Sit the same distance away as you watch TV and they look good. That is there big draw for me, when I get home from work and have something to eat I can't be bothered to sit and play Black Shark, it takes too much effort and I am not comfortable sitting at a desk. If I play on my xbox I can slob on the sofa and not have to worry about cables getting wrapped around my controllers, whether I can tweak anything to make it run better, if I am running the latest patches etc. BS is a weekend game for me, and that's where my problem lies as I don't get much time on the weekend as the missus want's to do stuff.

I use a Saitek x52 Pro and I am very happy with it.

I am sure there will be a difference, but a lot of PC games are now developed for consoles and then also released on PCs. So it's quite possible the code was written for consoles and then tweaked to work on a PC, this will mean it will be more efficient running on a specific console hardware. This brings me onto my next point, a console is a set set of hardware. Making a tweak to one particular part of the game to increase FPS will work on all 360's all over the world. The same can't be said for PCs, there are so many different hardware combinations it's impossible to streamline the code for any particular PC platform. I have seen the two running side by side in video's and your right to say there isn't much difference, there isn't, but that's not the same as saying they aren't different. Oh and the final bit is that the native resolution of Fallout 3 on the 360 is 1280*720 with little or no AA which is probably not what you ran it at on your PC?

No Radar warning, no radar guidance, no radar SAMs?

Why must you keep pushing? -

Where do I get that? :) Also I think your going to feel really silly! All that working on the Apache has taught you nothing! Here I found this german documentry showing the advanced AA capabilities of the Apache: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EqHS1gyknms Oh and similarities of the pilots to Nicholas Cage and Tommy Lee Jones are just your imagination :megalol: -
LOL yeah, ED really are lazy with there programming aren't they!?! :D

Thats true, but have you seen the dross that becomes a best seller? Sadly the masses that play consoles are idiots, try XBL and tell me that isn't true. If you can get on with your mates it's amazing, if you can find someone with intelegence it's brilliant. Sadly the majority of it is full of 10 year old americans swearing and not playing within the spirit of the game. And all that is before we even get onto the french! (joke). On a side note, I was dead set against HAWX, but I might give it a go. After playing BS for hours you just sometimes need to throw simulation to the wind and enjoy mad over the top visuals that have very little basis in reality.

They aren't really comparable, so your above statement doesn't really mean much. Although saying that the 360 has a three core 3.2Ghz processor. I think it "could" run fairly well on a 360 if it was written correctly. If anything the game mode would make it to the consoles, the sim mode wouldn't, there is no chance in making the sales to cover the outlay in work involved in getting onto a console. Also can you imagine trying to get that many keys onto a joypad? So I don't think it will happen.

Linear across the board, everything set to 17 and 100% smoothing. I also switch on precision mode as soon as I get in the game. My settings need tweaking though as I am not happy with them. The movement you require to move on screen head will require tweaking based on your monitor size as well. Mine is a 27" WS.

Night/ Low visibility missions? What's the point?
DTWD replied to BaD CrC's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Rokosowsky, Don't turn this thread into an argument as well please. -
Do you have them installed in completely seperate locations?
-
Oh crap...I think I am doing the campaign without my pilot...I think I killed him a bit ago...oh poo!
-
There may well be, but do you honestly want one? I mean this is a magnificant achievement and if the next module is just as good I don't mind spending another $40. I have had more fun out of this so far than I have on some of my £40 xbox games!

Unless I am understanding this completely wrongly it seems quite simple. It might be easy to think of it like this: You have the core game without any flyable aircraft, this is called DCS. To the DCS you add your first flyable aircraft the BS. Now you get a new patch and at this moment the BS part and the DCS are one thing, so the patch fixes any and both. Then the A:10 comes out along with some engine improvements etc. You then get two (or one if they disable the flyability depending on your licensing) install files and you install them. One is for the DCS (to install any generic changes that would be needed for both) and the other is the flying part of the A:10. At some point down the line we get a new engine, and chances are we are going to be required to re-download new versions of everything. I would imagine the new (and even this one might be like this) would work by you having a DCS launcher and then within the DCS you choose your aircraft and along with that the missions etc. This is just a way of thinking about it, the game core can remain as one seperate entity while the flyable aircraft remain as another and you update whatever you want whenever you want without (theorectically) affecting the other. Anyway that's my take.

The second one? Are you blind to the beauty of the first?
-
I agree he shouldn't use them without at least giving you a mention, but aren't all comunity mods copyright free? I thought that was the whole point of them, your just supposed to give credit where credit is due AND drop the person an email out of courtesy. Well that's just my take on it anyway. Although good work new dragon, I prefer old dragon's, they don't so much like they are off a Matchbox Car Park :D

Saitek has new SST software out
DTWD replied to andyfoot's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just a warning, the new (old) grid view is buggy, you may need to upgrade your Microsoft .Net framework (if it's out of date). It's still a bit buggy after that so I suggest you save your profile often. Saying that it's been quite stable over the last few weeks. The biggest thing for me is the re-introduction of the right alt mapping.
