PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
mariner3302 replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
"The fact that you were able to accomplish your work so quickly despite clenching a KA-BAR between your teeth the whole time is impressive." Roflmfao. Yeah, I ran out of crayons at the end! Thanks Miles! That is pretty high praise considering what you are doing! I am really excited to get it working! I will keep a log of sorts to give you feedback on how it interacts, of course, but it is going to be the.. sorry, I can't help myself... the CATS ASS!! LOL I'm considering doing the front dash but I have a lot of catching up to do to just fly right yet!- 3421 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller

I just had an epiphany! I am pretty early on the list for PointCtrl. I built a 1:1 scale Tomcat Front Office. I got about 3/4 of all the controls wired up. Then I ran out of board slots. So if I just wait until I get mine, I don't have to buy any more boards. The PointCtrl will activate the stuff in my frontal view AND I will still have the physical switches and buttons to feel. I disconnect those switches and use the newly opened board spaces!boards. The PointCtrl will activate the stuff in my frontal view AND I will still have the physical switches and buttons.- 3421 replies

Ahhh... yeah, I get it now. I was only concerned about changing the 'standard' in the mission that gets downloaded by folks wanting a good, feature packed, and relatively very accurate grading system. I routinely, spelled always, use a variation of his mission in the missions I build for myself. I wish ED would use a version of his script in all carrier ops. I know it would be tough but Alerax proved it is possible.
-
Don't change a thing.. Standards are standards, not 'guidelines'. You train to a standard and are then judged by that standard. This is a training mission. It is to train you to meet the standard.
-
There is, I think Alerax did it. Look for RGB Mod. Don't know if it still works.

Miles, interesting! Sounds like an inter-service transfer situation. Never heard of anyone doing it like that but it has been a long time. Definitely the small group mentality helps. Did the norms and Ranger and Pathfinder schools relatively early in my career so never really took much time thinking about it back then. I was a Sniper section leader. We always preferred the SF Medics training over the civilian and PJs. They are good but if you need the best, call the greenie! Personally, I couldn't do what you guys do - way to much local's interaction. We definitely ate some of the same dirt tho.- 3421 replies

Just a public huge THANK YOU to Firecat for keeping this list up and everyone informed! To the testers, give them a real workout and take copious notes for Miles. That will get this out sooner and be even better than I am sure we all feel it will be. Miles - as a Force Recon guy, I am required to poke you Greenies but man, this is really cool! Not just the unit but seeing and letting all of us see into how things like this are dreamed up, developed, and brought to the public. I am sure I couldn't have done it!!- 3421 replies

Running request - Bindable Button / Axis options
mariner3302 replied to maverickturner's topic in Bugs and Problems
Very well said. I hope this can be done. I use real covers in my pit but they don't need to be bound (the covers). Please find a way to either bypass the cover or make it permanently up. If it is always up then it will be become irrelevant but it will kill realism/immersion a bit. A 2 part command that uses time maybe? On the switch breaking contact with the closed switch position it sends a signal to open the cover. When the toggle makes contact with the up switch it commands the switch action of the up position. and vice versa for closing? The break and make, make and break switch function themes. -
Due to the hard work of a small group of non-HB folks wanting this bird to be as real as possible, a bunch of mods have been produced to add many control bindings to the 'Cat that didn't make the initial release. These folks have restored many pit-builders excitement for this release. Please sticky their work here for all to see, use, and hopefully be incorporated into official updates. I wish I could name all the awesome folks doing these mods but to all of them - THANK YOU!!! https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=235229

Running request - Bindable Button / Axis options

I'm not sure how to phrase this but here goes. Is it/can it be possible to have the safety cover/guard that covers a switch be automatically raised/lifted when the switch is turned on? Then the cover would close the switch and then the cover would go down in the game . In the Pit, I have the correct safety covers on but I don't know how to get them recognized in game at the appropriate times... -
[RESOLVED] Axis controls for Flaps?
mariner3302 replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in Bugs and Problems
The folks that build cockpits want them to be as complete and accurate as possible. So whether you, or anyone else, feels it is necessary or not doesnt matter. We want the ability and it isnt a hard or unreasonable request. -
[RESOLVED] Axis controls for Flaps?
mariner3302 replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in Bugs and Problems
ACTUALLY the OP is correct. The flaps are variable between full up and full down. The source is the NATOPS for the F-14. If you move the flap lever in the plane you will see it happen. Just cuz its on the internet doesnt make it true.... -
Very good, thank you!

Irrational.. REALLY??? lol You snowflakes need to step into the light that is normal real life interaction and get out of your parents basement! It's a question with an example and a reaction. Go finish high school THEN open your sucks...

Alerax comes through AGAIN!! Thanks a BUNCH! Please keep up the good work and megathanks for sharing! Heatblur owes you - BIG TIME,

AWESOME!!! Can't wait!

Holy Batcrap! I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing. Had them apart completely yesterday raising the pedal height. Now I can see what needs doing! Here are pics of the Combat Pro's taken completely apart. Easy enough. The wires between the brake pedal pot and the internal control board are metal and tough but you need to try and keep them from being kinked or pinched. I had enough wire lead to cut them and put a new ferrule on but I chickened out. Having reworked the pedals rather extensively, I will use the in the pendulum system which will save me quite a bit of time and effort since I don't have the ability to print in 3D.

Man that is PERFECT, Deezle!!!!! That means all the work and all wasn't in vain!!!! Maybe you can post that in the Cat Bugs thread and give all us pit builders hope?!?! I will have questions but after watching the video a couple times, most are addressed! Many thanks, Deezle!!!!!
-
Ok, this gives me hope! How do I make my own bindings? Where I make a physical switch/button/rotary/pot do some action in the game, correct? Can you help/point me to some way to learn to do that? Please?
-
Just keep on posting! Lol

Lol Ya think? I thought this was going to be the end all, be all of simulators. So I have been building a scale cockpit in anticipation. The lack of binding game makes most of my work, time, and money a waste. Yep, I am a bit pissy about this.
