G'Day Mate! Glad the seats are good. I haven't looked into where to get the foam yet, is there a certain style or type of high density foam? I would assume it would be automotive in nature. Did you buy online or local? I read somewhere about the trade-offs between safety of ejection and pilot comfort during extended missions. I use a dining room chair with panels attached to it for both left and right. It was built with the Cat in mind. I have the panels almost ready to be pre-fit and mounted. The throttles are going to be pretty heavily modified and will function very much like the originals. I will put in the switches, rotary's, and levers I think I need then add to them over time as I discover which are actually useful and which aren't. I am in VR so that makes a big difference.

You are THE man, Punk! Thank you SOO MUCH! Thats exactly what I needed! I can start working on them and get it integrated into the panels. Got the vertical panels fabbed up today. Sides tomorrow. I know how it is to have a lot on your plate so thanks again!

Mumbles, can you spread some light on your seat cushions? What are they and have they held up?

DCS Manual for the Tomcat is out! http://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/index.html

Wow! The Holy Grail of Tomcat Pit builders!! Thanks to both of you!! Punk, if you could send me the length of the green lines I would really appreciate it. That will give me a reference point when building the throttles. Also a top down pic would be great so I can get the flap cutouts made. I thought they were ball drop detents. I see they are slotted now. Mumbles, Thanks Mate, now I can get to drilling!!

Punk, did you ever do anything with the throttle you have in the first posts? I'm quickly sliding down the slope into transforming my Warthog throttle into a Tomcat style. The wing sweep and flap mechanisms are on my mind and I was wondering what sort of plans the company used if you know. I will rearrange the switches also once I get the locations plotted out and the panels ready. Anything you have to help would be great (or anyone)! Actually I guess momentary switches will work just as well.. I wish their was a way to get the binding menu items list for the Cat. Building the Pit would be a lot easier. Got the Gear and Hook levers and switches into a panel today!

Is there anything out there on how the square Mode and Steering buttons/switches work? You push one in and it turns 1/4 turn and simultaneously turns off the other switches. I may have to go with simple throw switches for them. Reminiscent of the old 8 track and cassette player radio switches. They would work great!

Awesome Punk, Mumbles!! Thanks! PDFs would be great for me! I am rebuilding my Pit to the F-14 from a pretty generic one. You will be amazed in VR. I have had it since starting my pit 1 1/2 years ago. The main thing when in VR is that you want to have the switches and controls spatially in the same place as you see them in VR. It isn't super critical down to the inch. You will quickly adjust to where the control or switch is. There is no need for dials and guages, they are in VR. This is a great collection of work and I really admire the hard work and the talent you all have put in to your Pits!

Nah, its all good! I didn't look hard enough in the files. There's plenty of pictures I/folks can use to make cockpit pieces.

Cant hurt. I was hoping to get the printouts from Heatblur actually with the dimensions. That is from the NATOPS which I have. I dont know how much to blow up the fold outs. Can you attach them?

Thank you!!

Does anyone have the pdf's to print off the right and left pilots vertical and side consoles? I keep trying to use the sketch up instructions and it is just eluding me. I would like to print them and paste them to the sheet metal I will make my pit from.

Acceptable and correct are hugely different in Naval Aviation, especially when it comes to the LSO's scoring approach and landings at the boat.Like any test, there is the correct answer and the rest are almost correct. Every LSO is taught to recognize the PERFECT approach. He mentally removes points based on what he sees you do and how well you do it. Ergo, it is a subjective process. No simulator can be subjective. Short answer is - get better at what you are being graded on instead of moving the grade to what the student does or finds easier.

Shut up and take my money!!!! Lol I can't wait to get hands on with it. Don't pay any attention to the naysayers and such, Miles! I personally dont like the glove idea. This is going to be much better for me. On another note, I installed a landing gear handle in my pit. WOW, that steps immersion up another notch!- 3421 replies

Just like a post I commented on about VR. Anything less than having the Jetseat up and running is not worth playing for me anymore. It is that important and immersive! -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
mariner3302 replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
The thing with VR is that until you experience it, there is no way to explain it. We bitch about artifacts or small nitpicky things that, to us IN VR, experience. FPS is totally a personal thing. I never bother looking at it but some do. The thing is that once you put on the HMD, you are IN the game. Without the HMD, you are WATCHING the game. 99% of folks with VR would not go back to a screen. The experience is that different. Waiting to get VR is exactly the same as waiting to get the best computer. There is always a bigger, better, badder one on the horizon. Regardless, you can't make the decision, or have an opinion, until you experience it. Jump in the pool, you will find the water is just fine! -

Olaf, I hope you are having a good Christmas! Is there a way to make SSA give a 100% on effect for a second when a catapult shot commences? -
Well, still, look at the app. It is a valuable asset you can use to repair, clean, install and many other functions.
-
Use the Skatezilla app. Selectlaunch non-VR. You can find the app in the DCS main folder where the DCS.exe is located.
