Any way to disable specific FFB effect?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Amarok_73's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I’ll hop in the F-4 later today then to see if I can figure out exactly what you mean. But my experience so far didn’t leave me with the impression of an adverse effect that I feel needs to be disabled. The only time where I did have annoying vibrations and oscillations was because of too high levels of friction and inertia I had set, which interacted with damping in an ugly way. Tuning down both friction and inertia fixed that for me. I don’t know anything about Moza software, but in the VPForce software there are so many options for tuning, it’s easy to mess something up -
Any way to disable specific FFB effect?

I’d check your software/telemetry settings. I have a Rhino, and don’t have excessive shaking. There is a setting for “jet engine rumble” (I forgot the exact name) in TelemFFB but by default it’s pretty weak. Some combinations of settings can also cause oscillations in your stick, so you should be careful with that. I have no idea how extensive Moza’s software is though, so perhaps you’re better off asking this question in Moza’s discord or on their forum if they have one -
Hmm, that still doesn’t explain 4.7GB for some and 10GB for others - as I for one don’t own FC2024

Yup, just over 10GB here as well. Seems a tad large for "just" DTC changes *The plot thickens*

[Bug] Jester calls out "lost cabin pressure"
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to streakeagle's topic in Bugs & Problems
It also happens when you hotstart on the runway. -
I deleted my Saved Games DCS folder and let DCS rebuild it, and I haven't had the issue with harsh shadows since. I don't know conclusively if it fixed my issues, but so far it's looking promising. Perhaps you can try that as well, Havoc...
-
Looking forward to Jester no longer panicking over: "We lost cabin pressure!"

The list of planned Phase 2 and 3 airfields is in the FAQ.

Yeah I hope ED can fix their server issues. This patch took over 2 hours to download, instead of the 10 minutes it would have taken at my usual connection speed.
-
Sure, but they camouflaged the chocolate eggs too well so that it took far too long for the hamsters to find them:

Feedback Thread - Phantom Patch 17-04-2025
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
That's great to hear! Thanksfor fixing it this quickly, Heatblur! -
Is it me, or did ED forget to feed the server hamsters this holiday weekend? Download speed started fine but fell to 16.4KB/s
-
I am aware of the work-around Thank you!
-
It's a shame the hotfix for HeatBlur (Jester AI) is not included. Is there an ETA for that, or will we have to wait until the next major patch before we can cold-start the F-4E again? *edit* Also, is there a version number for this patch/build?

Not at all: Miro was talking about the upcoming Balkans map, which OnReTech has been working on for a while now. Despite of how popular a Balkans map will/would/should be, this is very valid criticism. Sinai looks great, but the lack of updates/patches is concerning…

Ah, my mistake
-
I agree!

Odd: load times om my end have DEcreased quite dramatically

Sure, I'll see if it changes anything but do keep in mind Havoc needs your help more than I do I only notice an issue in certain cloud preset / time of day combinations where the Phantom is FAR darker than any other module (tested by swapping the aircraft in the mission editor) and yes in such cases reading dials can become difficult. Gamma 2.2 is default as far as I understand (both in general and in DCS), so 2.1 should make it darker rather than lighter, no?
-
Personally I wouldn't call it that, but depending on the clouds in the mission and where the sun is at, things definitely are (very) dark. For reference, these are mine (I fly exclusively in VR but made this screenshot in pancake mode):

I just did a helicopter flight again on the Malvinas, and yes the 900ft performance hit is still there. For me it's actually 950ft AGL: framerate at 949ft is half of that at 950ft. On the Kola map I have been flying helicopters just fine without this weird fps jump...
-
You're definitely not alone: it is indeed the darkest cockpit in DCS at the moment. In fact, it makes me a bit worried for when we finally get tinted helmet visors (Cobra announced it 2+ years ago for all HB modules): for me the dark patches around the cockpit look fine if I had my visor down, but there is a huge contrast when sunlight directly hits the inside of the cockpit. That being said, lighting has been iffy in DCS for a good few years. I bet it's not easy having both the inner cockpit look properly lit AND not have your retinas burnt out when looking outside - and that's ignoring the washed out colours (of the outside world) when you don't have a visor down

MiG-29A Fulcrum - Announcement
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
*cough* They did in fact confirm this, in the very first post of this thread. -
Hey, Earlier today I decided to fly around the Frankfurt area in a Phantom (opened the F-18 hotstart IA mission in the ME and swapped it for a FRG Phantom), and when I opened the throttles Jester yelled that I was "out of my god darned mind". When this happens it's usually because either you're being naughty and taking off from a taxiway, or DCS doesn't recognise the runway as a runway which makes Jester believe you're being naughty, while you actually aren't. I don't know if this is something Ugra or ED needs to fix, but this might be a result of the map being new - a viewpoint that was brought forward by Heatblur's Ironmike who suggested I make this bug report. If you need a track, I can try to reproduce this but I think the issue is clear enough without one. I'd like to add ATC asked me to take off from runway 07 (which I did: 07L in fact), and I made sure to taxi past the zebra markings before opening the throttles. Thanks!
