Sure, here you go (it's a track from the entire fight so feel free to end it at the merge): F-4E boresight MiG-21.trk

F-15E Radar Fix Mod - Budgie - Multiplayer Compatible, Passes IC.
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to jamie_c's topic in F-15E
Works as advertised! Thank you -
In the Caucasus dogfight IA missions that technique actually has very little success for me. The first attempt leads to a bad lock in 100% of the cases I tried it (even though Jester calls out the lock and starts the Mississipi-countdown). Re-acquiring a MiG-21 also doesn't work before the merge. Re-acquiring a MiG-23 does work (due to the larger RCS I reckon): I actually managed to shoot him in the face with an AIM-7E-2 but I only had about 1 or 2 seconds to spare before the flaming wreckage tumbled past me in the merge.

More, better SAM launch smoke
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Hog_driver's topic in DCS Core Wish List
There are plenty of first-hand reports from Vietnam for example on the distance at which SAM launches are visible with the naked eye, both during the day and at night. ED could use those reports as reference as well… -
ED announced a while back they are working on it.

Or moving to a flat with an extra room so you can fit all that extra stuff and move away from having half of your living room taken up by "just the PC and some peripherals"

That's a shame... Thanks for checking anyway -
DCS Helicopter Skids not having traction
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Hexpul's topic in General Bugs
Yes it causes issues for the Apache as well: Casmo explained it well in several of his videos. It indeed seems to be a core DCS issue... -
I don't know about the consensus, but my experience is detailed on page 1. See my post on page 1 of this thread. Personally I find the textures "too clean looking", without the 'wear and tear' contrast that's easily observable on other recent modules. Also the switches look weird. But it might also depend on the resolution you're running at. I have my G2 at 100%.

Depends on who it was who was saying it. Even if you have a purely academic understanding of helicopter aerodynamics that’s not grounded in practical experience, it was extremely obvious the old Gazelle behaved nothing like a helicopter. I had people in my squadron who loved it and really disliked the new version, but the old Gazelle was the only “helicopter” they ever tried in DCS so that’s why they liked it: it was familiar since it flew like a fixed-wing aircraft I found the sound really great but I absolutely hated the way it flew. And I am one of those people I mentioned earlier, with only a strictly academic knowledge of aerodynamics without RL experience…

OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Out Now!
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
Yes with the just released modules and what's to drop this month there's already plenty to keep me busy: Despite the brilliance of the F-4, which I have only dabbled into, I already reconfigured my simpit for the KW and Chinook because *HELICOPTERS* !!! -
How long have you been in the DCS world?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Mainstay's topic in Chit-Chat
You want to nitpick and didn't correct the grammar mistake? In any case, I've been here since the Flanker days as well. -
RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
I'm sorry but this is not a valid comparison. DCS is an ever-evolving product so the only way that you know for sure to get what you pay for is to halt DCS updates indefinitely, which in essence locks you out of all future modules AND updates to other existing modules that you might own unless you keep 2 separate installations. If you don't do that, stuff will eventually break. That is a certainty. Games that are being sold on Steam that are no longer supported are no longer being worked on, so you know for sure that something that works now will still work in a year from now, or 5 years from now (unless a newer version of Windows breaks compatibility). In case of DCS you don't know, unless you stick to an obsolete version - which is the exact same situation as with the VEAO Hawk. -
That’s impressive! I used to know someone who had one and I used his for a moment just to test what it’s like. It’s definitely not an ideal solution for helo flying
-
To be fair, which controls you use and how you set them up also have a major impact. Not just which cams you use, which spring strength and how long the extension is but also the exact placement: just lowering the pivot point of the stick base for example can make a difference. Whether I use my fixed wing setup or my Puma makes such a massive difference in how the helo in question feels and behaves, I imagine it has an impact on one’s opinion on the FM.

Thank you for sharing these pictures! It is indeed great to have the little bird in DCS!
-
There are definitely some former-military-pilots-turned-youtuber who are in it for the views and to have their egos stroked basically. Casmo is not one of those people.
-
I did, yesterday. The Kiowa does those U-turns just fine (I know those manoeuvres have a proper name but I can’t recall it right now).
-
That's brilliant, thank you for explaining that. I can now rest assured I haven't made a mistake pre-ordering the VPForce Rhino and that it is (or will be, rather) money well-spent
-
Yes I agree. This is not much of a problem in MP, but for the larger SP crowd it surely is disappointing. But in the end what is even more important is the amount of training missions available, and what they cover. And on that front, I have no complaints

For future reference, please look around a bit before starting a new thread. Your question has already been asked and answered multiple times.
