  1. - Low-level flying is a lot of fun in the F-15E, and you can do it forever given the ridiculous amount of fuel you can carry - It is also very respectable in BVR (I in fact completed the FC3 F-15C campaign with the F-15E since it's a purely BVR campaign and there's no need to dogfight). - The wide HUD is incredible! - It has a usable sunvisor so people with sensitive eyes won't get a headache and get nauseous when flying it. - The lack of datalink can also be an advantage: without all-seeing-eye you need to pay a lot more attention to building a picture in your head and watching your surroundings. This increased tension is an advantage in a PC simulator IMHO. - Older TGP that has quirks but is more interesting to use than the fantasy pod the F-16 currently uses.
  2. Yes, go back in time to August 2023: there’s a thread about it.
  3. Or we didn’t - as there are at least some people who didn’t feel like the map was ready yet. For me it still isn’t.
  4. While that is fair enough, the major problem here is that nVidia doesn’t seem to know (or care) about the importance of VRAM - unless they use that to persuade people to spend ridiculous amounts of money on a X090 graphics card.
  5. The Mission Editor has the option to have the normal helmet equipped upon spawn, but I haven't seen any option to prevent the player from contacting the ground crew once spawned in to give the JHMQS - though ideally the mission date would take care of that.
  6. I don’t think many people would have issues with 9.12B liveries, as those were more prevalent.
  7. Yes, I for one miss my daily MiG-29 fix
  8. Yep, people have been asking for proper sun visors for ED modules for 7+ years now. As for the helmet:
  9. A few days ago my F-16 wingman refuelled just fine, but since the change to tanker bank angles, the KC-135 and KC-130 are behaving very erratically in existing missions. Perhaps there is a link?
  10. Indeed, it sort of works but especially with Heatblur modules (for some reason) some weird stuff can happen, such as undercarriage disappearing and textures turning black. But to answer your question, no I have it set at 1.0 The problem is the lack of consistency. For example with "Improved" spotting dots ON, Spitfires completely disappear until I'm right on top of them (when I fly the Anton for example), and with dots set to OFF they appear just fine. While dogfighting in modern jets have MiGs disappear regardless of settings (zooming in and out on a player-controlled aircraft doesn't show anything wrong).
  11. As far as I understand, DCS is stuck with FSR 1 until we get Vulkan: FSR 2 and 3 apparently require either DX12 or Vulkan.
  12. The former was announced to be coming after the Hornet’s new pilot model, and the latter is supposedly coming “at some point” - though ED staff regularly contradict each other on that subject. According to Wags’ latest Q&A video, it is planned but who knows when we’ll actually see it.
  13. Most likely that. Spotting dots OFF is definitely the best option though, and it's also the one that the VR community had been asking for months for
  14. Yes, I have. I tried all of the available options. And to be fair, VR is a completely different animal than a 2D screen. I even tried Stereo vs 1 Screen in the Monitor options.
  15. For me, my main gripe is that aircraft at distances 10-20nm are very easy to spot (depending on the type of aircraft), while they completely disappear at around 1-2nm to shorty after suddenly re-appear as full-size models. I haven't yet found any way to fix that. Also, black dots suddenly turn light blue when against a backdrop of clouds (same issue that plagues power lines would be my bet).
  16. This reminds me of back when we had the original Ka-50, and everyone was landing on moving trains
  17. Well, yes but also no: the fundamental issues plaguing the original topic of this thread and the things you mention are exactly the same.
  18. Yes, it does. But similar threads in the past about training missions not working (getting bugged over time) etc have seen equally little response - sadly.
  19. It's not your fault though, is it? In the end it's up to ED to make sure all changes are included in a newly released patch as long as the 3rd party submitted them on time. This same problem occurs with other 3rd parties too.
  20. Didn't ED go through that exact same process when they updated Caucasus for v2.5? If I remember correctly, there was a fairly substantial increase in ground mesh resolution, which led to concerns that existing missions would find ground units suddenly hovering in mid-air or stuck inside the ground as if it were another Philadelphia experiment. Didn't they make changes to the ME so that any ground units would be checked for elevation automatically? Even this week, I opened one of my older missions only to find a SAM-battery had the "units are tilted" icon in the ME, and moving the icons on the map just by a few centimetres fixed it.
  21. And yet the FAQ says it will be JTIDS
  22. And ED doesn’t care because they know it’ll sell like hot cakes no matter how many of the “greybeards”/purists complain.
