ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
Gunslinger22 replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Then my point still stands, how and where would these fit into any DCS scenario when these ships aren't even in service let alone under sea trials. -
ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

What place does this realistically have in DCS? Seems like an utter waste of time. -
Oh I think you’ll find you’ll be using the TACAN more than you think, I really like your way of going about building your pit! But I’d imagine also like what happened to me, you’ll find that when you have to use your mouse to switch something, it’ll draw you out of your immersion and you’ll curse yourself of not implementing that panel! Though it certainly looks like the modularity of your design will easily overcome that when you first encounter it!

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Gunslinger22 replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I've decided to add some edits and further weathering to your wonderful NE110, once permissions have been given I'll upload it! -
Looking forward to this, will be a great asset to defend in the Atlantic with the Falklands map and some 80's carrier ops.

Interesting, just finished a flight when on the ground I noticed my rudders moving, check all axis and much like your findings there were no inputs other than some DCS magic going on.

I actually believe the ALQ-126 came much earlier on the A's, before the A+ had even entered service. I don't actually know how early, though it seems like by the mid eighties most Tomcats had them. Here are the antennas on a VF-102 bird from 1982: Also mid eighties VF-201:

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)

Not sure if I'm quite there yet, but continuing work back on some dirty VF-2 birds: -
No it's what I've made to give me a closer throw and size to the real Tomcat, with the springs I've added it takes 17.1kg of force to pull the stick fully aft, this isn't completely linear so it's slightly more realistic with stick forces increasing with G loading., thought note this is still just a WRB base and not FFB.

Wait, when have you stopped joking your entire forum life?
-
I've only given it a repaint and used some strong tape to give it a closer amount of girth to the real thing, all other proportions are close enough for me. It does indeed still twist and is still fully functional, with the mounting thread being there all compatible sticks and be used on the column, I just used a 4-way hat salvaged from an X-55 stick, mounted on my sidewall with an offset piece of steel strip I folded and drilled a hole at the end to fix the hat into.

Are you sure? I have read in a Hughes brochure that it was designed to seek and destroy anything that had been programmed into its computers. I believe Tom Cooper has documented that the Iranians used it to successfully destroy Iraqi GPS satellites and strike the nuclear facilities at Osirak with AIM-54A+++ at ranges of over 1000nm.

Is that not an accurate simulation of its known capabilities? Please provide any sources pointing to it being otherwise.

Well went even further and fully enclosed the canopy, also decided I'd knock up a new stick which surprising only took a couple of hours, here are my

Bloody unreal work here mate! Thanks so much for this, any chance you could also get HUD/VDI trim as a working axis also? Edit: Well I didn't realise that it'd be this easy, but anyway here is both trim axis - {action = device_commands.VDIG_HUD_trim, cockpit_device_id = devices.HUD, name = _("*HUD Trim")}, {action = device_commands.VDIG_VSDI_trim, cockpit_device_id = devices.VDI, name = _("*VSDI Trim")},

I actually use a set of headphones for all headphone audio with all other sounds coming out of my G2, it's actually quite good with giving you the effect of wearing a helmet.

Running request - Bindable Button / Axis options
Gunslinger22 replied to maverickturner's topic in Bugs and Problems
Has anyone been able to add in anymore axis for the HUD/VDI trim/brightness? -
So I’ve being doing some work and have been able to add all the pots and encoders required for all the gauges with the VDI/HSD/HUD controls but we don’t have any binds for these yet, has anyone been able to add these axis/binds?
-
I’ve started using it and probably can’t fly without it now, I think that the sounds are less artistic in a sense, but feel a lot more authentically loud. Just wish we could remove the unrealistic afterburner thumps that HB have, or at least give us an option.

Just another great addition mate! Really looking forward to more 80’s USN ships coming. -
I found something very similar on some car seat covers, but it wasn’t the right Sandy colour. I ended just simply buying a course cloth that matches the colour and was happy enough.

Had nothing to do the other day so I thought why not make the full canopy with functional ECS rails that blow air. Next I think I'm going to gut it and re-do all of my panels and gauges.
-
Had nothing to do on Friday, so decided that I'd make the canopy with a functional ECS. The quality of everyone's panels has me jealous and embarrassed for my own attempts, thinking of possibly gutting everything and filling it with Mumbles awesome and accurate 3D stuff and buying my own printer.

PSA: F-14 Performance/FM Development Status + Guided Discussion
Gunslinger22 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I thank-you for your input and what you’ve done for the module. Though I’m just curious mate, do you get time to play DCS for fun? Do you get enjoyment from flying around, or does the constant testing and whatnot burn you out?
