  1. LOL that comment reminded me of the food hall scene in "Oliver Twist" ;) EECH $6us + Free 600mb mod pack + $16us = $26us for the full game package. Quite good value really.
  2. Just get ED to purchase the rights to Janes Longbow 2, do a terrain upgrade, add ARNEHs pit with click buttons, and Aeyes make over, then make it compatable with ARMA2, so we can blow the crap out of online infantry and armour :D The manual is already done - http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.3093 Looks like a simple cut and paste compilation, do you reckon we could shoot for a 2010 first quarter release ED ;)
  3. In DCS Blacksharks current form I tend to agree. Ive been flying a little EECH of late as we can utilise EECH's dynamic campaign engine in multiplay. DCS multiplay content has all but dried up. I think if I fly City Sweep again my wife is going to find me rocking back and forward in my chair like a lab monkey. Dynamic Campaign engine please ED :) ps- DCS BS is still the best single player flight simulator ever made, but theres many above it in the multiplay area.
  4. Check out this AH64D hi res pit make over that has just been released for EECH Link- http://www.cockpits.nl/PRODGAL_AH64D_cockpit_EECH.html
  5. Running DCS under vista32 in windowed mode is no drama, and you dont see the toolbar or anything crazy like that. Looks like this- ps- the picture quality flared a little, but i can assure you its all first class GFX in RL.
  6. Im running fullscreen Camera + Shkval in Vista32 over 2 monitors at 3360x1050 with a playable framerate on an 8800gt. What are you trying to do again, and im guessing ive missed something in your post?
  7. Ive got no real complaints using the X52pro, although I do use saitek pro pedals as well. The rotaries and slider do get the shakes a little so I use the slider profiled in "bands" and the rotaries I give a small dead zone from within DCS setup so they dont input when centred.
  8. Try Dragons Mission pack for starters. Link- http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43361 There was a lot of content around pryor to the patch, but not all is compatable with v101 due to a trigger change in the update.
  9. I took another look at this game and did some more experimenting with the joystick setup. I made some headway so I thought I'd share. It looks like the default joystick setup flies in a similar way to keyboard flying with an overly large deadzone in cyclic and collective input. Fly by mouse though has no deadzone, so this would account for some people that are not using flight gear commenting that it flies quite well. So in the end the solution for people using flightsticks was quite simple. In my case I use Saitek HOTAS and pedals, so I used the SST software to assign the "mouse axis" to "X" and "Y" of the flightstick and save it into an ARMA2 profile. All done flies quite nice using a joystick. 1. Open SST editor 2. If your using X52 you will need to "unprogramme" the ministick X and Y axis to release the mouse. 3. Assign the mouse axis X and Y to your flihtstick X and Y 4. Save your profile 5. Go into ARMA2 controller options and remove default joystick setting from "pitch" and "bank" 6. Assign "mouse left" and "mouse right" to "bank left" and "bank right" 7. Click OK 8. All done, now just load your profile before playing. Sensitivity can be tweaked via the SST software. enjoy ps- I still need to figure out how to get lift before my collective reaches 90-100% as it still behaves like button input.
  10. At the end of the day if you dont have noobs on servers the community will not grow, and multiplay part of this game will stagnate and die like any other. Best option is to invite noobs into your comms channel so they know whats going on. Other than that you should organise clan, or mission nights once a week and lock the server up for a couple of hours. We used to do this with Red Orchestra a few years ago. We would plan a set mission/battle within the forum, then just contact the server admin and request a lockup time and map(miz in DCS). The battle was open to both clans and public players. The only condition was that you had to be on comms, and generally follow the clan leaders orders, during the lockup thats all. The concept of including public players in clans battles proved very popular with the community and clans often retained selected public players. Giving noobs a chance to see how organised clans or squadrons operated was also good for the game. We also found that servers that offered up themselves as a host for these battles remained populated throughout the week. Noobs welcome I say, just try and get them on comms :)
  11. The only time I use "trim reset" is immediatly after landing. On your approach to landing you are most likly trimmed in a way to offset any drift. Once you land this trim position can often drag your helicopter sideways, or you may have too much forward trim overriding any braking input causing an overshoot. Reseting trim on landing neutralizes all these inputs as Shamandgg says.
  12. Yeah Scabbers follow Griffon's advice and install ModMan in its own folder. Im running Modman under Vista32 without any problems. (My Vista install has UAC and WD turned off, if that makes any differance) ps- only Modman compatable mods can be installed using Modman. Others such as BattlefieldFX, radio chatter, and HMS need to be installed manually

  14. No worries Poko :)
  15. I wasnt nagging, I just offered an opinion. I figure that is what public forums are for. We all offer and opnion, then people make up their own mind on the topic
  16. Ive noticed this as well. Prior to the patch we had to scroll down in order to see all the server. After the patch there is only half a dozen if your lucky. Reasons for this could be as follows- 1. There may have been a lot of Pr8 servers? 2. Prior to the patch we had some 80 multiplay missions for server content. This was mostly screwed by trigger changes, now we had no content. I guess a lot of mission builders were annoyed by this. 3. The game requires a "Dynamic campaign engine" 4.**edit**German patch has not been released :)
  17. If your after recommended mods- 1. Sharkpit(either Dragon or Toby's variation of the Tango built pit. 2. Battlefield FX sound mod 3. HMS centre view mod 4. I like the "radio chatter" mod as it adds some battlefield ambience 5. LoReload terrain mod isnt bad either, although some people say its a little to green. I use it, but if I was motivated I'd reduce the "illumination" level a little bit. The terrain flares a little like when using ENB series mod, but overall its not to bad. 6. Dont forget about "Modman" for installing and removing mods. Simplest method is to install modman then select "download mods" which will allow you to browse modman compatable mods. ps- I'd give you links, but im pre-ocuppied drinking beer at the moment ;)
  18. I often host on that speed Triangle. Set it up as a 5 slot server(one slot for server) and load it with 4 slot coop missions and install Acedy's serverman package. Generally clients are using around 7kbs up, depending on the mission.
  19. Not entirly correct. Im using Vista32 running a pair of 22"w LCD with the primary on my right side. Look at post#190 and you can see what happens. Phantomfix is still required if your using right side monitor as primary as far as i can tell. Works for me anyhow.
  20. With some TX it was that easy, on others I encountered a problem where after the input was reversed the ESC never saw the throttle as 0% on startup so it would fail to fire up. A problem with the pot positioning which i corrected. Sorry guys, I was just answering the post, back on topic now :joystick: "Pull up"
  21. My X52pro pulls pitch as well. Ive found it very natural since the LB2 days using an MS sidewinder, I even had to mod all my RC heli remotes to pull pitch as well as i was so used to it. I find it far more easy to revert to push for fixed wing, than to revert to pull for heli. Flying helicoptor sims is an aquired skill, that requires much practice, pushing throttle in a fixed wing is no more complex than reaching forward for my beer ;)
  22. I found the new system of losing control of the stick until recentre a little rediculous. V1 trim system for me.
  23. I think this is correct. Looking at Sharkpit Mods DL's I guess you could start at 1000 clients and go up from there. So I guess the game is worth 50k+? Only ED knows the correct sales figure, and ive got no idea how many games you have to sell to cover costs and start making money with a sim of this complexity. I just hope it does make money for ED so they continue to produce games of this quality. "Huey's over Vietnam" has a nice ring to it ;) or if ED wanted to hook up with BI and send in an ED made Blackhawk flight model into the ARMA2 battlefield I'd be quite ok with that to :D
  24. You can quite easily convert most missions to multiplay using the editor. You will have to load the missions manually. 1. Open the campaign mission you like with the editor 2. Delete your AI wingman from the KA50 flight 3. Change the lead helicopter to "client" 4. Add a new client KA50's one at a time, including waypoints, and payload. 5. Save as "yourmissionCOOPx4" or something unique 6. Drop the miz into your multiplay folder Note- only the lead helicopter will have target points loaded. Its no big deal if your on live comms and other players stick with the formation. All the audio "talk on" should be intact, although if the file size is large i will sometimes remove it to minimise client upload size. ps- Its a shame the larger campaigns are not already setup for 4 slot multiplay with an ability to save progress. It would make up a little for the lack of a dynamic multiplay campaign like in EECH.
  25. When you guys post multimonitor questions its a good idea to post the sizes of your monitors, and the resolution you wish to run at. It makes it very easy for somebody to run some numbers and create some lua files for you.
