It's a complex game to learn, it just takes alot of time and practice. Keep watching videos from Wags, RedKite and others on how to use the radar, systems, etc. Get the Chuck's guide on your plane and read through it. The GAW (Georgia at War) servers would be good for you, no PvP, so you are just going against AI working with other live players. But target ID is critical, you will not make friends online if you shoot your teammates down. ID on RWR, IFF, visual, whatever tools your plane has, read up on it.

I am in the same boat as you. Ordered in March and now my account does not exist and no response to my emails.

I ordered in March. My account does not work either. I emailed them a couple times with my invoice and no response. Not sure if they took my money and ran or are having other issues, but future buyers beware. I will post back if they respond (or the product shows up).

Pretty cool! This could be the start of some really funny stuff.

I like the Rift S a lot better. Tracking has been perfect, but you have to have good lighting in the room since it uses a camera instead of sensors or it will not track well. My only complaints are the sound (so I use Bose earbuds) and the way the night sky looks (grey, milky, not dark).

I use a PD of 1.0 with my Rift S and it looks good. I can read the MFDs easy. MSAA on 4x and AF on 16x.

Jammer also.

Your formation reference is to be forward enough to see the cockpit windows of the tanker. That means the pilots can see you. I usually stay below their wings, though I have seen pics with fighters holding slightly above the wing level. You always start on the left side of the tanker and work over to the hose on the right, even if its the right hose. Then move to the right reform area.

Make sure you have wake turbulence turned on in the options. Both have wake turbulence (all the planes do).

Question about JDAM coordinates vs HSI Precision
wrl11 replied to neversaykever's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
The Tomcats use DDM, so our Nav waypoints are in DDM for all planes in the squadron to use, while our target coordinates are on a separate kneeboards and always in DMS.s. -
Why are the most unrealistic servers the most popular?
wrl11 replied to Boris's topic in Multiplayer
This is why I got into squadrons. My experience with public servers is someone has an hour before work or school to play, or an hour after kids are in bed and just want to jump in, shoot some missiles and exit the game. No time for real life procedures or tactics. That's fair. When I did that I would usually jump to the side with the least planes, so I liked having the F18 (or A10 a few years ago) on both sides. The people that want it more realistic and join squadrons of like minded people do have to commit alot more thought and time to the game. But for me the satisfaction of flying with skilled people you know and completing well planned and briefed missions successfully is worth the time commitment. -
fixed [REPORTED]F/A-18 Aircraft Weight now bugged?
wrl11 replied to VFA41_Hedgehog's topic in Bugs and Problems
This was funny the first time, I was dumping fuel to get under weight and realized if I dumped all of my fuel I would still be overweight! Has anyone noticed if the game is modeling you being overweight or is the weight number in the display just off? With this bug I have landed on the carrier at 38,000 lbs and have had no problems. -
Looks good! I like the way you jumped to different angles to show the same scene, like the SAM launch and bomb hits.

I have seen some people complaining about its limited capability so far, but I really like it. I'm glad they released it even though it is not done. Its still very powerful. Imagine when we get ground radar and TWS?
-
I had the cheaper TM T.flight rudder pedals. They were ok, good choice for a lower price point option. But I recently bought the MFG Crosswinds and they are great. I highly recommend them.

When I pull the trigger to lase it breaks my lock on the ground target. Things look good to that point following the directions above. Any idea why?
-
I agree, played for 1.5 hours and no flash. I'm on the beta.
-
I had to make the channel higher than 10 to work. Try making it 11 and see if it worked.
-
Congrats. I have had mine for a month and still like it alot. I am running PD 1.0, med textures, shadows flat, 4x msaa, 16x anisotropic. Runs smooth. I am using the rift public test beta so getting regular software updates. Still getting the white flashes once in a while though, but not a big deal.
-
I have been having some issues getting out of it recently also. Last night I even switched to A2G in a dogfight to try to break it after it locked up a distant target (how does that happen in AACQ anyways, it should be looking for close targets). Sometimes I just have to turn the plane around so it breaks lock then I can cancel the mode.
-
The only time I see the hands by my face are when I first get in the plane. Once I move them around, the location stays where it should even if I am checking six.

After about an hour, the server really gets laggy due to this. Objects freeze and/or jump around, everything goes wacky. Performance is good early on though.
-
Our server is the same way. Lasts about an hour then everything goes nuts. Tanks zip across water, some stuff freezes, tanker jumps around covoys go every direction through mountains etc. I assume its due to the high CPU use issue being discussed with this new version, possibly due to the missiles flying forever.

I have a small pillow on my lap and put them on that. Rift S does not lose them there. One thing I can't do however is arm the ejection seat. After a few unexpected ejections from picking up the controller in my lap (and it pulling the ejection handle) I fly with it unarmed now.

I managed to get flying by deleting the entire saved games directory, not just config/input. My rudder still has issues, its like the toe wheel brakes stick, its on or off only no curve. Even when I delete wheel brakes from the controls (and check both "axis" and "all" have no wheel brake control assigned) I am not rolling at 80% thrust with no brakes applied. Like the ground is sticky now. Anyone else seeing that?
