correct as is Wire wont disengage from hook
donkeyrider replied to markturner1960's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I had this happen to me last night for the first time. I suspect I tried raising the hook to early. Not sure exactly and haven't tried to replicate it since. Ended up next to the park planes as well, but fortunately avoided hitting them. -
Modern version for me please. Thanks.

DCS: F/A-18C Features Roadmap for Early Access
donkeyrider replied to Kate Perederko's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Kate, Thanks for the updated road map and releasing the results of the survey. Keep up the good work and send our regards to the team! -
I get this too. Currently I'm mainly playing Single Player using VR. It certainly makes the landings a lot more exciting! I suspect it's related to the frame rate issues we're all experiencing when sitting on the supercarrier deck.

I haven't looked at Skate's utility. Thank you for sharing that with me. You're right - it could certainly be a lot more efficient then the current method.

The custom settings is a great addition. It will make tweaking settings a lot easier.

My personal take on the may 22 patch
donkeyrider replied to Raven434th's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I agree - Overall it was a pretty good patch. Saw a big jump in framerates and i fly in VR. Hopefully this means the Stable branch will get an update soon. -
The Log Book definitely needs a revamp. It would be great if it would also count traps, AAR and have sub-categories for day / night as well. Having said that, this would be at the bottom of the list of things ED should be working on.

Nothing original to add, other than to say thank you. I can really see the hours and hours of development work the team put into it. Well worth the wait and delay. Cheers!

Push back to the parking after landing
donkeyrider replied to SilentSierra's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Not at the moment. Hopefully we get this feature soon. Otherwise it's impossible to park the jet propertly. -
In general I find it's around 14:00 UTC. Though for major module launches it can be later. needless to say there will be some people at ED working very late tonight.

congrats

G B and Lex, Thanks for taking the time to give us some handy pointers. Learnt a lot reading this thready.

Thank you. This will save a lot of time.

Thanks for the timely update.

I'd imagine one of the biggest challenges Kate has would be recruiting and retention. Anyone who can do the complex programming of DCS can easily be hired away for money to a tech company, bank or hedge fund. I use a financial accounting software that's also developed in Russia. It's nowhere near as complex as DCS, interface is pretty awful yet we pay an annual subscription that would allow me to buy every DCS module each week and still have plenty of $$ left over.

NineLine and Bignewy, Appreciate all the work you do around here / hoggit and discord. Would it be possible for you guys to cut and paste any comments you make on Hoggit and Discord here or even open a new thread. Call it "Random Updates". It will allow DCS tragics such as myself one place to check in to get the latest rather than having to trawl through multiple platforms to get your nuggets of gold. Many thanks.

I'm inclined to give ED some slack during this time. Productivity just isn't the same at home; A zoom video call is never the same as just walking to someone's desk or meeting room. Then add in having to supervise children and help them with schoolwork, internet may not be as fast or reliable, anxiety of friends / family etc. Debugging 2.5.6 is probably taking longer / more difficult then planned and that has to have an impact on the SC development. I'm sure everyone is doing the best they can under the current circumstances.

VR head movement vs trackir
donkeyrider replied to nwagtmustang's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I prefer to move my head all the way back to see something behind me. The reason for this is that I have much better orientation - i.e. I know where the object is relative to me. With Track IR it was much easier to get disorientated because the head movement didn't track 1 to 1 with what was happening on the monitor. What can help is getting a swivel chair - instead of turning your head entirely around, just rotate your body in the chair. Far from realistic but if it works for you... Best of luck. -
GB - Thank you for sharing.

I read Kate's statement in the context of an update for Stable version. While I was hoping to see some of the enhancements for the Hornet this month, I can understand not wanting to release another patch until progress has been made on the performance / multiplayer issues. Hope the ED team can relax and enjoy the May Day long weekend.

Two good points I failed to mention. The Reverb's cable is very uncomfortable. Not a deal breaker by any means but the Rift's you never think about - it just stays out of your way. I agree the Rift S has the better controller. However, I give this win to the Reverb as you don't need to use the controllers at all. Which I prefer. I only use my VR for DCS and don't play any other VR games (no time). However, if you do plan to play something else that needs controllers, then this may be a problem for you.

For what it's worth here are my two cents: My priorities would be: * ATFLIR * Flight model improvements As an owner of both the Viper and Bug, I'm glad the Bug will get priority this year. As for the debate about what "early access" means, it's just semantics. Just keep up the good work. I'm really looking forward to the next update and hopefully some Hornet tutorials this weekend.

The types of missions it could open up in DCS would be very interesting. And at the same time, when you want something more routine you could just do COD deliveries to and from the boat. The flight modelling would be very challenging though.

I think there is merit to that. A sim pilots we do have some disadvantages and having aids such as this is helpful. As you said, if you don't like it, switch it off. I feel the same about AAR. Even though I can do it, for beginners having a "cheat" that allows them to refuel would be helpful.
