As for situational awareness and finding targets I use the bearing and distance. In the bottom left of the TPOD to initially find a target using either Data or cities from the F10 or map on EHSD with DMT slaved and will draw a point on map where the Pod is looking. This will give me an initial bearing or area to search for the target without ever looking outside. You can zoom and sweeten once your closer.
As for turns or if I accidentally NWS and center the Pod then a quick F10 on where I was looking and get a distance and bearing and move the Pod referencing the gimbal as needed on the screen.
As for distance and run-in, that's altitude based for me. Usually always more than 8nm. 10-12 is good for fuel and enough time. If targets are very close, say two tanks at 30K I can pickle two atg least 20-30seconds apart and will give me enough time to require second target after first impact, giving GBU two time to correct and grab second target.
As for the really buggy CCRP, as long as your close bomb will correct with enough altitude. CCRP on unguided with no wind is horribly inaccurate at higher altitudes and from other ABRS info and documentation should be much more accurate.
Good luck happy hunting
