  1. I took the modded sounds folder and put it into the C:\Users\user name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta
  2. Remove mods if any and do a repair. Try vanilla start first.
  3. Here it is, just unzip and pop it into OVGME...compliments of overalien. https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=227538&stc=1&d=1581789122 FA-18C AMPCD Improved Symbol Clarity.zip
  4. Thanks for the tip. I use OVGME, so based on what you say I won't have to anymore if I move my sound mods to the saved games folder. I seem to remember a long time ago trying to put sound files in there but they didn't load? edit:just tried it and it works perfectly!...thanks again!!
  5. +1 couldn't agree more:helpsmilie:
  6. I just did a sunset takeoff 18:00 from Al Bateen, also breathtaking seeing the red clouds going dark. Then climbing to 15,000 looking into the sunset and seeing the ground then turning 180 and seeing the dark was great. Very noticeable is the lack of sky banding, it's gone showing real nice transition from light to dark! Well done DCS!!
  7. Just flew Nevada/Las Vegas 17:30, [gamma 1.3] absolutely beautiful! FPS were solid with no loss flying low over Vegas. The visual improvement with lots more of everything, can't just be my imagination.
  8. Both levels of zoom in VR work fine for me, just being up close allows me to read most everything without having to zoom in.
  9. Yes I agree, noticed this as well, a nice feel of realism.
  10. Did more flying...it's interesting that flying though clouds and bad weather can go un-noticed in fps and the next bunch of similar clouds can cut my fps in half, fortunately I don't see a noticeable impact on game play when that happens. On another subject, is it possible dynamic weather has been worked on, looks better. So far I'm inclined to agree with Hippo...haven't flown MP yet.
  11. Great night lighting with gamma at 1 cities and airfields look great, daytime I'll raise it just a bit but nothing as high as before. Scenery looks better in Caucasus. I believe the clouds have been improved definitely a fps hit for me in the clouds almost 50%. But as per original post...going in the right direction! What are the improvements others are seeing?
  12. overalien has a great mod for the AMPCD, allows darkening the map without darkening the OSB info. It's called 'FA-18C AMPCD Improved Symbol Clarity'. It passes MP IC.
  13. The added closeness helps the clarity using VR. I manage to see the full HUD and ladder [now that I better understand the relationship between AoA and pitch ladder]. I'll raise my seat to align my eyes with the same height as the two alignment crosses and see how that feels. Thanks.
  14. Using VR I get as close to the instruments as possible and adjust my height so I can just start to see the top front of the plane.
  15. Referring to the one off landings not the standard when additional braking is needed...thanks.
  16. Sometimes when running out of runway on landing I pull the emergency brake to help slow/stop the plane. Does the parking brake and emergency brake offer the same degree of braking? Thank you.
  17. Try using a mod installer like OVGME and make sure you copy the second folder /FA-18C AMPCD Improved Symbol Clarity' into your mod folder.
  18. So is there a specific height that an FA-18 pilot should adjust the seat, if so what is it?
  19. Yes Tholozor I remember reading the alignment cross also uses it to align the JHMCS. Above 4 degrees AoA you will see the 5&10 pitch mark. I see in the training videos it's the 10 degree mark that's used for reference when air refueling.
  20. Yes I also use VR, don't understand your line up method.
  21. No zooming. Vanilla HUD. I see what is happening, as my AoA changes, so does the appearance of the 5&10 tick marks. I'll spend more time tomorrow to better understand how the AoA plays into this. Thanks for your response.
  22. The 5 or 10 degree tick marks on the pitch ladder do not show on the HUD when flying flight level, velocity vector on the horizon line. Only when I pull the nose up above 4 degrees do I start to see the 5 then the 10 tick marks. Is this a bug if not what would be causing this? Does it have to do with AoA you're flying at? Thank you.
  23. I've modded the flaps to go much louder. No matter how loud I make the flaps file it cannot be heard in or out of the cockpit which is telling me there is no script to make it work. You can hear the landing gear go up or down, I've made it louder also chaff and flares. So if these can be made to be heard in/out of the cockpit, something is broken with the flaps.
