So as I get more and more into the nitty gritty of the Tomcat, there were a few things I noticed for question: Does the ADF needle, whether in the HSI or the BDHI ever work? I long think I’ve ever seen it even move. I know ADF doesn’t t work in the front cockpit, but I have it set in the rear and then needle never moves. What is the emergency hydraulics for? The Heatblur wiki says what it is but not what it is used for, or when. Is Phoenix able to guide on a hooked datalink target? I recall from reading about it ages ago that it could guide via Hawkeye DL but dunno for sure. If you PDSTT a single target and launch Phoenix on it, is it active off the bat or not until it’s within 16 seconds TTI? Has anyone else noticed that the horizon line on the HUD never seems to have enough adjustment to line up with the horizon? The VSI and AI seem to be ok though. v6, boNes

Thanks...Do you have the F-14? Does what you did get recognized by Jester so that he tunes the radio in the back for you? Also where do you go to add that command to the VA profile? v6, boNes

You used to be able to say to Jester "Radio Tune 133 decimal 550) and he would tune the radio. Now it doesn't seem to recognize it and that command is missing from the list. It only recognizes instead "radio 2132.550", 1 out of 20 times it might work correctly and Jester tunes the radio. Any thoughts on getting it to work/recognize it again?" v6, boNes

Thanks. Those searches and resultant threads were in terms of using the HMD with the LITENING though, and I was using it without a TPOD, so that wasn't addressing my concern per se, so it would have not done too much good doing that search. That interim fix probably wouldn't help me since I wasn't using a TPOD. I was iron dumb dropping. But thanks for letting me know that this is probably a bug anyway. v6, boNes

If I have no targets designated and I turn my head and look at one with the reticle then TDC designate it, the dashed diamond appears on it, but it doesn’t stay there. It drifts away so that by the time I turn toward it, it is way off target. I tried hitting TDC designate again just in case but it did nothing. What am I doing wrong? I did it while following along with Wags’ video. v6, boNes

That's normal for the F-14A. In a nutshell, when the right engine is shut down first, it is electrically held in place while electric power remains. When the left engine is shutdown, the hydraulic systems take longer to come offline than the generators and that cause the nozzle to be stuck open. It happens in the F-14B as well, but the nozzles are such that it's not as noticeable. v6, boNes -

So what is the procedure if doing a case 3and then you bolter? Do you just go back into the pattern again like in case 1, or do you go out to 6 miles astern and try again? v6, boNes

So if you download a profile, when you are in the software go to programming. Click the open folder icon. It will show you the directory where it is looking for profiles. Cuty and paste your profile into there. Then select and open it. To be sure that the profile is in your HOTAS, click the little target icon on the upper right. It will download it to the HOTAS. YOu can turn off the software now unless you want to see what each button does in the software. If you are making your own profile, that is a bit more complicated. Press the button you want to program to get the software to jump to it. CLick in the field below the selected button field and type your keystroke. When done, click the check mark. DO this until you have programmed everything and hit the target icon to download it. I hit it often even when I'm not done so that it's updated and so that if I needed to move the command to another button, it's already listed and I can just select it in the new button position without having to retype it. Save the profile when you're done and you ready to go. You might have to make a button an "advanced command" which is like a macro but with added nuances such as button press time. That is more complicated and hard to explain here but the manual might be able to tell you more. v6, boNes

I was following along with Wags' video on the new grid coordinates function. When he slews his cursor to a grid and then presses adn releases the TDC, it goes back to the HSI data page ready to enter the precise grid coordinates. But when I do it, I press the TDC and the grid blinks an underscore under the grid alpha characters and never goes to the HSI data page for coordinate entry. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? v6, boNes

Are you sure you downloaded the drivers for the Logitech X56? X55 and prior profiles aren't compatible and won't be seen/understood by the X56. I ask because you have a MadCatz profile which didn't come in the drivers I downloaded, and MadCatz was done with the HOTAS system with the X55. Also in the screen shot you posted, you are not in the right place for setting up a profile. Click the middle button "programming" that is where you set up profiles. Where you are in the software in your screenshot is where you set up lighting and such. v6, boNes

Need a SPEED BRAKE EXTEND ELSE RETRACT bind for X56 HOTAS

I have the G Push set to extend the airbrakes (shift B) since they can extend in a range of positions. So I hold it until I get them where I want and release. To retract, I set the slider SLD to retract airbrakes (CTRL B). All of this done in the X56 software. Plus the two are over and under each other so it's easy to find and use them in tandem. v6, boNes -

Well, since it was only the single missions I had this idea to wipe out all of the missions folders for every aircraft, including stock ones. I also wiped out all campaign training and instant action missions for good measure. Figured then I'd do an integrity check and Steam would notice stock file missing and replace them. The validate reinstalled 980 files. I started it up and it worked again and all of the stock missions were back. SO I'm back up and running, I just have to add on any downloaded missions I had which is not a big deal to me Took a while but at least I'm running again! On top of that all of my preferences and keybindings are still there. Maybe a mission file got corrupt and since I wiped them out...it's OK now. Thanks! v6, boNes -

I have the Steam edition so I can't do that cleanup and repair. I did an uninstall and reinstall and the problem did not go away. v6, boNes
