It works fine in the Mirage and F-5 - you just either use coordinates or smoke.
-
I'm really not sure how you can read that from this? It's pretty plain - F & G next month, E isn't mentioned so the previous statement of arriving this month should still be valid.
-
It worked fine until a few months ago when they introduced this bug.

Seems like the laser 65E is still on track for this month, just the IR Mavs that got delayed. Hopefully this bug will get some attention as part of the laser mav rollout, it'll really frustrate buddy lasing otherwise: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221743

Something like this would be perfect for PG while we wait for the Iranian 14A...

It was a hotfix - they don't follow the usual two-weekly pattern.

Time travelling? I'm in! You've put August :D

Matt Wagner Interview with Fighterpilot podcast
backspace340 replied to macedk's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I'm pretty sure the interview was recorded before the FW-190 was announced - I think that was the surprise. -
As far as I know, the trim you enter during carrier approach is cancelled out when you either land (not sure if it's automatic, or if I've just always done it with T/O trim) or lift the gear/flaps.

This was the last I heard on it, from the Hoggit AMA:

I feel like a starving man picking from a menu - I'll take literally anything right now.
-
It'll just be updating stable to the same version that was hotfixed for OB yesterday, no new content.
-
If it's coming this month, then yes it would be. The next OB patch is due the 24th October, the one after that would be the 7th November.

moving map makes HSI unreadable - any solutions?
backspace340 replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It is easier to read if you reduce the brightness to a notch above off btw - though it could still be a hell of a lot easier. -

It does seem a bit silly that it doesn't work better or that they didn't figure out putting backgrounds behind the button names like in the A-10C. The contrast buttons are currently non-functional right? Are we expecting it to get better when we can adjust the contrast? -
It won't affect stable users because they never had the new defaults - all ED did with the hotfix was remove their defaults. The correct solution that everyone should have done after the last OB patch was to delete ED's defaults - then your bindings would have returned to normal and would have been untouched with this new hotfix (and it took 1 minute, versus hours to rebind). If instead you tried to work with the new bindings and re-bind everything then you'll have been messed up by the hotfix.

Pretty sure they've already confirmed we're not getting the JDAM as it doesn't fit the timeline of the B they've modelled. You've also missed out the ADM-141 TALD which I think they've said we'll get once ED model it for the Hornet.
-
I'm really hoping the B will come with at least one aggressor / non-US skin (fictional IRIAF skin?) - lots of servers are intending to add them to red from day one so it'll be nice to have at least one default non-USN livery.

The altitude is shown on the right-hand side of the locked contact on the radar screen - it's in thousands of feet. So you might see '23.5' which means he's at 23,500ft. You can also see their relative altitude to you on the left hand side of the Attack Radar DDI when they're locked - it'll show whether they're above or below you and by how much. And yes, we'll get NCTR at some point which will tell you the aircraft type.
-
It's normally better to take it out of loft when you're close in, otherwise I find the missile pulls so much lead that it loses track sometimes - you can switch out of LOFT by pressing cage/uncage (and that'll put it back to normal). The AIM-120 should go out of visual mode when you lock (try cage/uncaging again if it's still saying visual). Flood should just be the default for the AIM-7 when you don't have anything locked. As far as I can remember, you don't need to touch the stores page to toggle any of these - cage/uncage toggles them (or undesignate to go back to flood mode).

HOJ = home on jam, it'll basically home in on someone jamming - either they keep jamming and they get hit by a missile, or they stop jamming and you can shoot normally/know their range. LOFT = the missile flies a lofted trajectory (it'll use its energy to gain altitude, where the air's thinner, there's less drag and it can conserve energy), should in theory arrive at the target with more energy/have more range. VISUAL = Mad dog, it'll lock onto anything it can see in front of it and try to kill it (regardless of IFF) FLOOD = your plane will direct a big chunk of constant radar energy out the front of the plane (using a device that looks like an airhorn, not the normal radar) and the missile will home on anything that is reflecting that energy

(DDCS)Dynamic DCS, True Unpredictable Perpetual War

The red stennis doesn't have tacan - there's some bug meaning it doesn't work. The carrier is there but it's invisible on the F10 map to stop people from moving them around. The carriers are about 60nm South of Gelendzhik. -
They weren't promised, but they were mentioned as being specifically a focus for July/August in this newsletter: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3579278&postcount=152 Of the stuff on that list, we're missing the extra bits of RWS (LTWS, NCTR & color) and the GBUs. I'm guessing both have turned out to be a lot harder than they expected as they've gone a bit quiet on them both in recent newsletters.

Press the AP Disengage button/paddle (the same button you hold to pull extra Gs).
