[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE] Can't select radar altimeter
backspace340 replied to Krazee's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Was working fine for me today - maybe make a track and capture a video to show ED? -
They were broken on all ED & Belsimtek modules. Not everything is in EA.

According to a recent HB answer the RIO has to correlate the IFF returns with the radar returns on the raw display and then tag each contact as friend/foe on the digital display. Jester will do that for you, or a human player will need to.

Yeah I didn't edit any luas either, I just rebound - it looks like they've added/updated some default configs for the Thrustmaster joysticks and throttles according to some lua sleuthing someone else did, so seems like that's possibly causing the issues for me (I'm using the T16000 and TWCS which is on the list). I'm guessing there's a conflict between their default and my previous bindings.
-
Yep something's gone wrong with my bindings too https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3650765#post3650765

Just updated to the new patch 2.5.3.22652, hopped in an instant action and found I couldn't select AMRAAM or Sidewinder using my usual bindings. I've checked controls and it looks like a load of bindings have been changed, plus some are greyed out and so even they're the correct bindings they're not working. I've tried setting the binding again but it's not changing anything. I'm not sure what to do at this point - this doesn't seem like before where the bindings got wiped as I could at least remap them then.

Just the B sweep getting stuck and a couple of other minor things: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3650609&postcount=30

We're not going to get anything like GBUs, JHMCS or HARMs because they all need some instructions on how they work and we don't have a video from Wags explaining it. Before every other feature release a video came out the day before (or before that) showing how it worked. I'd set expectations really low for this one.
-
Yes APG-73. Wait 0.5-2 years until the module is finished, then you'll have LTWS/TWS.
-
I wouldn't expect anything major - we've had videos explaining how features worked before major new additions in the past.
-
It's different between the USAF and USN - they have professional Navy pilots advising them (and lots of them have made videos flying the DCS Hornet and none have pointed out such a glaring flaw - because it isn't one). It was discussed previously: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=214556

Think I read that it'll be separate entries in the Controller Config, so yeah you'll be able to use the same buttons for different things for the Pilot/RIO. You can't control the front seat from the back or vice versa, so there's no conflict.

I've locked stuff at over a hundred miles (nm) in the Hornet, so it seems better than it's stated performance there. Depends what that performance is trying to state though - fighter vs cargo plane etc.

Pitch UP when Carrier Launch with Auto Flap
backspace340 replied to backspace340's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Bit confused why this has been moved out of the Bug section I originally made it in, rather than being marked [Not a Bug] or [Reported]. -
Just an update on those Widmovr lenses - I ordered Sep 22nd, they were dispatched Sep 27th and arrived (to Hong Kong) today (10th Oct), so two and a half weeks from order to delivery which is about normal for international stuff. They don't arrive with any instructions, but they're actually fairly intuitive (once you try the wrong lens on the wrong eye like I did once...) and they just push into place and seem to be held by friction (they don't click into place or anything like that). Once they're on they seem solid. The lenses are great - my vision is now as good in headset as it is wearing glasses outside of it - it's probably given me an effective 20-30% bump in resolution, which is always appreciated!
-
You need to update - you're several versions out of date. The latest stable is 2.5.3.22176: https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

This only happens if you brake after landing - so make sure your brakes are off.

Knocked up some quick tracks of this as I'd love for this to get fixed. Attached is a track of me getting an SA-10 spike, even though it's an enemy plane being targeted and shot down (and I'm separated by several miles). I've also attached a track of the same happening with an Su-27. su27spike.trk sa10spike.trk

Before we start - I know you're meant to use half-flaps for takeoff. That said, if you takeoff with auto flaps then the Hornet pretty much tries to kill you - the LEF and TEF pull straight up and you basically do an uncommanded loop straight off the end of the carrier / field. Seems like the only way to stop it is to cycle the flaps to half and back to auto which stops the murderous FCS. I've attached tracks from both the carrier and field, but it's easy to reproduce - do any of the hot start instant actions, flip flaps to auto and do a full burner takeoff. Make no inputs. You'll loop and crash. autoflapstakeofffield.trk autoflapstakeoff.trk

I think you'll find the F14 being mainly a red aircraft in MP servers (that seems to be the plan for BF & DDCS). It's a good way of balancing capabilities out without being too unrealistic (although with some fudging of A/B variants until the A is out).

DDCS|Standard|Caucasus|dynamicdcs.com|TrueUnpredictableWar You'll normally find it in the top 1-3 servers by player numbers, it's running on Open Beta.
