Strategic industrial and military targets asset
G.J.S replied to tripod3's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Outstanding work. -
"Should" be in rear cockpit, right hand console area. (Worked at Westland Helicopters (UK) years ago after leaving the RAF, when the WAH-64D was going through).

Tbh the whole callsign thing needs serious expansion, but I think that’s down to E.D., as it’s a host sim issue.

F-4E Phantom Phamiliarisation (whilst we wait for DCS..)
G.J.S replied to Karon's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
You will get used to it. Admittedly, it’s easier ‘starting’ on steam gauges and graduating to MFD’s and elec-trickery, but a little harder the other way round. The younger generation may have to train somewhat to attain a good cockpit scan method - the frequent “lookdowns” to check state and trend before certain points, for example prior to the merge, IN the merge, in the pattern, the list goes on! Aircrews since the mid ‘90’s have been truly blessed with the plethora of information readily available at eye level. Cockpit design and ergonomics have come on hundred-fold. The F-4 will treat you to an aircraft that will co-exist happily with you should you respect her. Just like a woman though, let your attention wander and she will bite. The cockpit does have all the info you need right there, you will have to practice and perfect your quick scan to assimilate what’s happening, what’s going to happen, and act accordingly. A few flights under your belt and once you get used to where some things are, you will enjoy the challenge of taming a thoroughbred. -
DIY F-15E WSO Hand Controllers - 3D Printed and functioning!
G.J.S replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in F-15E
Impressive. This 3-D printing thing is quite something. (I’m an older fart, so this printing technology blows my mind anyway) -
Or get down to the guts of it . . . Suck-squeeze-bang-blow.com

Recently purchased, gave it a go, single bag and 6x MK82, plus AIM-120 & AIM-9 (2x2). All low level. Airborne a little over 2.25 hours and returned with 3000lb remaining. Pleasantly surprised. She certainly has long legs.

All rather nice, but how many are 'E' models?

Why would you wish to lower the flow rate?

Bought the map awhile ago, had a few brief “look see” flights, but I’m waiting . . . . May be a long nose that’s coming first, but I’m looking forward to ‘Tooming the cr@p out of it.

Will only ever (mostly) work on a 1v1. Any more than that, and you are just going Winchester quicker. -

F-4E Air to Air Weapons/Capabilities Discussion
G.J.S replied to Aussie_Mantis's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Wikipedia can sometimes be entertaining. 27NM is likely on a head on, high launch alt, minimal manoeuvre target (I.e; perfect test point). Good rule of thumb would be to halve the range against a target likely to evade, to give yourself and the missile a good chance of success. -
F-4E Air to Air Weapons/Capabilities Discussion
G.J.S replied to Aussie_Mantis's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
It’s the “condom” mentality - better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Most, if not all engagements invariably descend into a phone booth, especially if there are more than 1 opponent. If you don’t go equipped then already you are at a disadvantage. -
Think the temperature needs to come down a bit in here . . .

Isn’t it just! If your GIB isn’t throwing sarcasm occasionally - then he’s either already punched out, or he’s passed out. The banter was what made all flights great, the nav would gripe (tongue in cheek), question my heritage, etc etc. Worked both ways though - frequently would tell the nav during BFM that “one more wisecrack and the ‘luggage’ will become the largest flare I’ll fire . . . “ Admittedly some of the Jester-isms can seem a little childish, but then - growing old is mandatory, growing UP is optional.
