Thanks for another great asset Just to let you know for the Bristol Blenheim fighter/bomber mod, you just need to change the following line in the aircraft LUA file (blenheim_mk1.lua) to show the correct shape, in game. Change incorrect text (B7a grace) to the correct text (blenheim_mk1) Incorrect Correct Thanks

Rejoyce Hawkeye is back! I've been taking screenshots the last few days to compile a Tribute to Hawkeye post, to entice you back - but thankfully the community have rallied together already to do so. I remember back to version 1.5 of DCS when I first discovered your mods with Markindel, and it opened up a whole new world to DCS, that I can no longer live without. The mixed emotions of subsequent official updates to DCS, when ED added stuff, but broke the beloved mods. But your perseverance and fortitude to repair and add even more cool stuff. Hawkeye, please never forget that you are the cornerstone of the very talented DCS modding community, that brings immense joy to us mere users. Currenthill covers the modern assets with his clever code & impressive models, Admiral covers the modern sea lanes, VSN the flyable modules, TeTeTe the Vietnam era, Tripod3 the Cold War era, Eightball the Civilian assets...etc..etc.. But no one covers the World War II era like you do, you are the go to guy for this era and always have been. Thankfully others have joined like the Cuesta brothers etc, of the >500 mods I use, nearly 40% are from you! I am very excited for the upcoming ED WWII Marian's map and accompanying aircraft & assets - but not without your extensive coverage of the WWII Pacific theater. Apologies if we don't always comment, leave a like or thank you, and get lazy. I always appreciate your as advertised "Bottom Drawer Mods" and "full money back guarantee" on all your work. There are so many hidden gems, and I really enjoy some of the most obscure mods. ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
ggrewe replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Wow Admiral! - such great news with the well-deck on new San Antonio & amphibious assets. Really enjoy this aspect of combined ops with Land, Sea & Air. Hopefully ED expands embark/disembark functionality to sea vessels, like some heli & vehicle assets. As you also mention with the upcoming Ch-47 & later the C-130, expanding functionality. To create immersion, in the meanwhile, can use static objects (linked to sea assets) to try simulate this. But I need to try brush up using triggers + scripting to try simulate better dynamic actions (landing etc) - if possible? Having fun with your USN & British LCU's linking Currenthill's & Massun92 mods which work really well on the decks/surfaces. Thanks again for all your dedicated & hard work, to make so many of us really happy- 3410 replies

Unfortunately seems there is a limit (50mb) per thread? So can't attach the 2nd part, I tried yesterday with a separate post - but said I was over the limit (>50mb) Hoped it was just a 24hr restriction, but still not joy today - apologies I might add altogether & add to the User file downloads, later EDIT 15.05.2024 Have added Dropbox link for all 4 liveries in my post above (3 up, dated 3 May) Cheers mate - no problem CVN_cain_gang WWII Have attached the files below. Will add another post below for other 2 files, otherwise will be over 50mb limit Enjoy & thanks for your inspiring video series Navy Mod Deck Crew WWII Pt1.zip 47.6 MB · 2 downloads Expand awesome. In which folder do these go in DCS? Thanks In your Liveries folder - same as Aircraft liveries [DSCWorld / Bazar / Liveries /]. You need the Navy Equipment 1.4b mod installed as well.

Hi Adalla I did a hack of Tomcatz beautiful Deck crew, included in the Navy Equipment 1.4b released by Blacklibrary. Was inspired by your Carrier comparison video showing the CV6 USS Enterprise with deck crew, but on closer inspection, saw that they were just modern colour coded crew. Based on some quick on-line research have added a lot more basic WWII US navy uniform of Dark Navy Trousers, Light Blue Shirt & White Cloth skull caps. But left some of the Red & Yellow's. Hope they help with WWII & maybe even Korean War scenarios? Attached pics of comparison from original (Modern) to new WWII CVN_cat_crew WWII CVN_cain_gang WWII CVN_wire_crew WWII CVN_LSO_S WWII Have attached the files below. Enjoy & thanks for your inspiring video series Navy Mod Deck Crew WWII_All

@Adalla, thanks for your great templates & videos, but you forgot your best video? Showing a comparison of most of the carrier mods & a very nice show case for these amazing modders, and their much appreciated work DCS Carriers Showcase (more than 15 community carriers) Hi Eric, link below for Hawkeye's WWII CV mods including Yorktown WWII Allied Carriers Pacific Fleet Merci beaucoup to you & Patrick for your many mods, incl. the PACK AI 1940 BATTLE OF BRITAIN Are you ever planing to add back the Curtiss SB2C Helldiver, that was in the original pack? Missing from the updated pack & would be another great AI asset for the Pacific, to add to Hawkeye's amazing mods

ggrewe replied to cao990's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi MingGe (Cao990) Thanks for sharing your great mods - very appreciated Look forward to the rest. I especially like the Bison Hovercraft, based on the Russian Zubr Hovercraft - I have been waiting a while for someone to mod this - so thanks again I did a quick hack of the various nations that operated it - USSR, Russia, Ukraine & Greece & have attached below (just drop into the mod Livery folder or the main game Livery folder) Chinese Bison hovercraft 3260.zip -
Apologies, I see that now. I had just sorted my 403 error out, by finding that thread. Further on says the following: you should contact support directly if you get the 403 error and if steam is not bound to stand alone. Please contact technical support here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/ or email support@digitalcombatsimulator.com The guide below will help you provide the data needed. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/support_ticket/ Thank you Eagle Dynamic

Seems its a binding issue between your steam & stand alone DCS. Steam auth error 403 Discussion.

Cheers for the great technical layouts - very helpful ak47freak has now released his mod of the Mulberrys in the User Files section: Mulberry Harbor Assets See there are 2 threads on the topic, both with good info & pics - maybe admin can merge topics?

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
ggrewe replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Eduardo Strange? The version I downloaded seems to work correctly - just check the LPD_Foundre.lua file, found under Database/ Navy folder. At the bottom should read: GT.Countries = { "France", "Brazil", "Chile", }; If not, just add the countries you want or block with -- before, to show under ALL countries e.g. -- GT.Countries = { "France", "Brazil", "Chile", }; -

Where can I find Skins for 'Static' Aircraft and other objects?
ggrewe replied to Snacko's topic in Liveries/Skinning
Hi Snacko If I think I understand what you are asking In the User Files section, select the following: Type = Skin (you probably worked that out already ) Unit = Vehicle (Scroll down to near the bottom) This will bring back skins for Vehicles, Ships etc. = Other (Also near the bottom) Mainly AI aircraft Date (From) = Set this back a few mths or years to get a bigger selection, normally defaults to a few mths & might miss some the older goodies In this liveries section also check out the following threads: AI Aircraft for AI Aircraft Combined Arms for AI Ground/Sea units Hope this helps -
Hi SkateZilla Thanks for replying & explaining - good to learn new things (or re-learn old things ) Haven't used ModelViewer in a while & was always used to the Liveries Tool popping out as a new window (and being very visible), when selecting in the Tools menu or pressing ctrl+L. Forgot it could be tucked away & searched for a solution - when it wasn't popping out for me on selection, when I came across poor Ziramond's "16 million times" post. Related to his frustration

Questions for creating and adding skins for ground units
ggrewe replied to rwbishUP's topic in Liveries/Skinning
Hi rwbishUP I'm still a total noob at livery creation - but have being trying to learn the process & understand your frustration. I am also learning by editing vehicle liveries i.e. adding decals & colourizing existing liveries etc. Looks like you know how to extract & edit the texture files to create the new liveries, in this case the Smerch (RSZO_SMERCH_Base.dds) To create the description.lua you need to load the model in the ModelViewer2 & extract the description.lua from there. ModelViewer2.exe can be found in the main DCS folder e.g. DCSworld/ bin/ ModelViewer2.exe Can take a little while to load, once loaded go to "File" & "Load Model", navigate to the model.edm you want. Most modern vehicles can be found in DCSworld / Bazar/ World/ Shapes/ Smerch.edm (this is for the specific Smerch model you want) Once the model is loaded you press L Shift + L Cntrl + L Alt + G This will bring up a dialogue box to save the description.lua - choose a place to save to & open with text editor (e.g. Notebook, Notebook++) You now have the full description.lua for all the textures & roughmets etc - but in your case you only need the text for the one you have edited "rszo_smerch_base" This is at the top, so you can delete all other text between the brackets { } so that you are left with: livery = { {"Rszo_SMERCH", DIFFUSE, "rszo_smerch_base", false}; } A very rough description of what the text means, from left to right: "Rszo_SMERCH", this is the name of the file DIFFUSE, this is the type of texture "rszo_smerch_base", this is the dds file name (one you edited) false}; this tell the lua to use the file or not (false=yes, true=no) Lastly you need to create the Livery Folder Name to add the various liveries you have created (in sub folders) with the dds texture & description.lua. inside each one. This is usually the texture name, in this case smerch_9K58. So in the Liveries folder you will add a folder smerch_9K58 & within that you can add your various livery sub folders (e.g.Kuwaiti, Armenian etc) The livery description in game will read this sub folder as the description. For simplicity, you can keep the same dds texture description ("rszo_smerch_base",) & just drop each of your edited textures into each sub folder, with same description.lua. To help, I have attached the smerch_9K58. livery folder with a Sub folder called "Test 1" with an existing dds texture & description.lua, which you can use to simply drop your rszo_smerch_base.dds textures in for livery you have already created - just create a copy of the "Test 1" for each & re-name to what you want. Also a link to a helpful video: DCS Custom Livery Creation | The Basics by Ditch3r Hope this helps smerch_9K58.zip
