  1. Thanks so much Admiral - love your work Especially the Amphibious assets and the smaller vessels - adds to the immersion of combined amphibious assault missions, and great asset for the South Atlantic map. I did a very quick hack for different camo schemes for myself of the LCVP Mk5 & LCU Mk10, also for the LCVP Mk5's mounted on the HMS Albion (all non historical ) Includes Original Brown, alternate Brown, Green & Grey schemes. Have shared for those how might want (hope you don't mind, Admiral?) Drop into the main DCS Liveries folder or can add to the specific mods Liveries folders (E.G. .../HMS Albion_Support Craft/ Liveries/ HMS_Albion L14/ ...) Need to add the Liveries folder for the support craft & add in. Liveries.zip
  2. Old post - but I had the same issue & was just as frustrated. Seems deleting the folder edModelViewerTrunk under your Saved Games folder & restarting the Modelviewer cured this for me. Hope this helps any other aspiring liveries creators out there
  3. Wow a Me-110 - very exciting Are you able to add a version with out antenna's for BOB missions? Either way, really looking forward Sally will be great for the long awaited WWII version of Marian's map, as well. Thanks in advance
  4. Interesting - thanks for elaborating & explaining. Suppose its makes sense to paint non military colours to make them look less like targets Thanks for your great mods - really useful for mission builders - love your work
  5. Awesome - can never have enough amphibious ship assets . Especially, thanks for also doing the accompanying landing craft - very useful for Falklands/ Malvinas War re-creation. Just missing the Fearless-class LPD's (HMS Fearless & Intrepid). Was hoping Razbam were going to add to their South Atlantic assets pack? Maybe can add to the back of your very long list of requests
  6. When your economy is struggling - you have to sometimes buy the cheapest paint - no matter the colour!
  7. Thanks for update PeeJott - very much appreciated. Excuse our eagerness - this is such an anticipated mod, especially with Sinai map release You guys at VSN bring us so many great mods - fully appreciate everything you create & share (for FREE) - whenever they come out. Big thanks for all mods you have already released & patiently waiting for everything coming out going forward
  8. Admiral thanks so much for your selfless dedication to bringing us all these great ship mods from your one man shipyard - very much appreciated. Hope you are feeling better. Enoy & DJReonic, you can add your own tags / naming convention by editing this line in the lua file GT.DisplayName = _(" ") The text between the brackets & quotations _(" ") is what is displayed in the mission editor & in game - if you use labels (FULL) For example, with Admiral's latest USS Lewis Puller ESB-3 mod, the description is GT.DisplayName = _("USS_Lewis_Puller ESB-3"), you can edit this to what you want e.g. _("[ADM] USS_Lewis_Puller ESB-3") Just edit the text within the quotations " ", I've provided the whole text, just for context. Where to find lua? Usually found in the main folder or Database sub folder & has the file extension .lua File is normally named for the mod or close, I wouldn't touch the other files - if there are any (e.g. weapons etc.) For the USS Lewis Puller ESB-3 mod the ship's lua is actually within a sub folder of the Database folder called Navy, named USS_Lewis_Puller ESB-3.lua How to edit lua? Maybe create a copy of lua, before you edit - just in case. Can open with any text editor (Notepad or Notepad++) Use "Find" function to search for GT.DisplayName = Edit name, as per above & save. Load mod & enjoy. Sample of line in USS_Lewis_Puller ESB-3.lua to edit (highlighted blue) Personally I set up naming structure as Nation / Ship Class / Description / Author e.g. _("USS ESB-3 Lewis Puller [Admiral]") , but that's because I've edited all mods (>500!) & DCS descriptions, so they stack according to my preference in the mission builder & Encyclopedia. Please don't worry - I am seeking help for this affliction But does create order in the Mission Editor & Encyclopedia, and once you start you can't stop! Apologies for long explanation, but I am an Idiot & appreciate the "Idiots guide" approach to learning things for myself - but hope it helps
  9. Hi Eight Ball Firstly - thanks very much for all your wonderful mods, they are so innovative and clever - its an inspiration to use them in mission creation. I love your ground & sea mods with their unique viewer perspective to enjoy DCS from a different interactive mode. I know you are super busy creating these great mods - but if you ever got round to adding a WWII component to this mod - here is some inspiration / material: Would make sense to mainly add German vehicles especially for new Normandy 2.0 map, as targets for P-47, Mosquito etc. What is the ED policy on using their models, i.e. adding the existing WWII tanks onto the rail flatbeds - or is this a no no? There are existing FLAK wagons in game, but not yet implemented by ED, not sure why - as have been in game for over a year - but not usable yet? When they get implemented, would be great to add to your potential mod to make targets that bites back! dr_50ton_flat_wagon_flak18 dr_50ton_flat_wagon_flak30 dr_50ton_flat_wagon_flak38 VIDEO: Some video of US WWII train attacks : American warplanes strafing enemy trains during World War Two Video of German tank movement by rail: Railway Transportation of a Panzer Division Took up to 80 trains of 55 wagons each. to transport one German Panzer division during WWII BOOKS: I read an excellent book by Richard Freiherr von Rosen called Panzer Ace: The Memoirs of an Iron Cross Panzer Commander from Barbarossa to Normandy, where he describes an attack by P47s on his Tiger II unit (PzAbt503) while offloading from rail cars near the Normandy front (Aug 1944) PICS
  10. T-pap has done a few interesting mods: I.R.I.N.S. MAKRAN (Iranian Forward Operating Base Ship) Oruc Reis (Turkish Research Vessel) By T-Pap Eight ball also has a few great civilian mods here in this thread: 1. CIVILIAN ASSETS PACK - NAUTICAL v2.1
  11. Wow -those look great. We need as much verity as we can get with regard to mobile infantry. Looking forward
  12. Egyptian Air Force IL-76
  13. Cowboy you are an invaluable modeller that builds high quality mods with superb liveries - that add so much immersion to DCS, for us mere users. We really appreciate you sharing these with us - for free! If you ever doubt the popularity of your mods, below is a list of some of your most popular mods with download counts: P-8 Poseidon (AI only) Downloaded: 3563 E-7a Wedgetail (AI only) Downloaded: 3546 Cowboy's (NOT a) SeaHawk UH-60a Mod (AI only) Downloaded: 3395 UH-60a Livery Pack (Multiple Country H-60 variants) Downloaded: 2793 "We love you man!"...and that's by popular vote on downloads. The quality of your work is a testament to, not only your ability, but the time & effort you put in. Requests are just suggestions, by members that appreciate your skills - but you should focus on mods that inspire & motivate you - if that fits in with requests then win/win. We appreciate everything you do - as we can see the skill & passion you put in, and that inspires us. Even / and especially the more obscure (esoteric) units. Your O-2A Skymaster mod has got me so inspired to create an "Apocalypse Now" mission - just waiting for Vietnam map & Napalm ordinance effects. I add your iconic SeaHawk UH-60a Mod to nearly every modern mission I create, because of the superb eye candy, but also the amazing collection of beautiful liveries. With your skills & ability, just remember "If you build it - they shall come" Thanks for everything you have created & are going to create - you are a very talented modeller - keep the faith
  14. Agreed would be nice to have some of the fixed fortifications as placeable assets. If you use mods, the SAM Sites Asset Pack is a must have & has some great fortifications, berms, camo nets etc. Which may cover what you are looking for? TOPIC discussion & download link: SAM Sites Asset Pack - A 3D assets mod to populate you SAM sites, FARP and other bases
  15. Great thread cfrag - thanks for the mission. So great to have the developers @OnReTech so actively involved in user interactions - hopefully a benchmark for other maps, going forward @RWC - Hawkeye60 has created a mod for camels, but hoping for more assets to add immersion The Un-Official DCS Camel Add On Lankypilot77 always creates nice driving videos of the maps Driving tour of DCS Sinai map Nealius - did a great screenshot version for the Syria map Syria Landscapes (Screenshots)
  16. The VSN team were working on the Cheetah D & hopefully C variant as well. But has been over a year in development - according to this thread below. Hopefully still on the way? Mirage IIIE/5/50 Series (VSN Mod Team)
  17. Hi Eisprinzessin Seaside is correct, Hawkeye60 is man to follow / search. He is the WWII master mod creator. 90% of the WWII mods I use, come from him Unfortunately he often has a thankless job of having to upgrade the mods after patches. You have to check which ones still work or have conflicts after the patches. Warbird thread Seaside, mentioned (includes a Lancaster) Battle of Britain pack by Cuesta brothers, contains He-111 & Ju-87 (but the A variant)
  18. Agree 100%, I actually use DCS as a sandbox to set up Air/ Ground / Sea missions in the editor to watch them play out in this beautiful sim - like an amateur director doing a movie Would love more options on Infantry, as you all say. At the moment, the only option is through skins / liveries on the existing limited models, to get some variety. I had great intentions of getting into learning to create liveries & started with the WWII infantry & vehicles, but RL intervened. Managed to to a few hack jobs as part of the learning process.
  19. Hi Majoji333 Nice work! There are 3 hidden train carriage models for WWII German Flak in the game already, but are not active yet & can only be viewed with the Model Viewer. So hopefully ED are planing to make Flak wagons & AA part of the Train components. But they have been there for over a year, so seems they are not rushing to do so! Actually Hawkeye60 kindly extracted them for me, a while back - but as stationary only.
  20. Thanks so much Currenthill, you are a saint - really looking forward to this long anticipated Mod & the hard & dedicated work you have put in. Already trying to save for a 2TB SSD, as my 1TB dedicated DCS is now drive is full! Would appreciate if some kind soul could maybe upload a torrent of this mod (with Currenthills blessing?) As also getting time out on direct download, as this mod is rightly very popular
  21. What excites me the most is that there have been 3 new maps announced in the last month, which bodes very well for the future. It seems ED are expanding this part of the sim significantly & hopefully will start plugging those glaring gaps like Vietnam - especially with the announcement of specific era aircraft like the F-100. As for the North Australia map, I'm sure our Aussie brethren are happy to have a bit of their back yard represented. Minsky makes a great point in adding East Timor, even if this is added later when the Developers have the capability / capacity (like Cypress added to Syria Map). This would help the developers learning curve & add to the selling features of the map, as East Timor could standing in as Jungle for Vietnam, until we get the actual map and as an opposition base for Red/Blue scenarios vs Australia. Where developers have made adjustments previously based on community feedback (RAZBAM adding Continental South America to Falklands map) this has been very positively received Also, as stated by many, adding a WWII era layer would get maximum mileage out of the map, as that would represent real-world conflict (like is been done with Marianas map)
  22. You can add crew / infantry to small ships (with linked unit), but they seem to disappear shortly after ships move, and can only be seen from certain angles? Hopefully ED can sort that out or preferably add actual crew.
  23. Looking forward as well, for WWII Pacific & also possibly Vietnam missions (since we are desperate for Vietnam scenarios) Screenshots from WIP (March 2022) & video from HIP Games (WIP Japanese Assets at 7.54) from Leatherneck. Hopefully free add-on like South Atlantic assets? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWSr4AlhsCY&t=489s
  24. Hi Toan I seemed to have the same issue. Did a hack & extracted emblems into a livery folder, uploaded below. https://www.dropbox.com/s/el2gwz4k0jcpc3n/HawkEye60%20K-141_Kursk%20Emblem%20Livery.zip?dl=0 Just extract & add to Bazaar/Liveries/K-141_Kursk & select under PAINT SCEME, as Std with Emblem. Hope it helps
  25. Hi HawkEye60 Thanks for these wonderful gifts - the Typhoon with Marroux's wakes, is worth the money alone! The Alpha class size did stand out for me as well. I have added a top down screenshot comparing size/length with all subs next to each other & did an adjacent table comparing the Actual Length vs In Game Length. I did measurements with length Ruler tool in ME & compared to data from Wiki & did a variance column on the far right. % Diff to Actual is calculated as (Game Length M - Actual Length M)/ Actual Length M - just to get a relativity to actual. The Alpha is oversized by 169m. In Game length is 250m & should be 81m , it should be roughly half the size of the Typhoon (175m) The rest of the subs, seem within reason & we don't want you too distracted from making all those other great mods you're working on
