Has anyone made the S3 Viking Flyable
ggrewe replied to uscstaylor's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
The talented VSN modders created a E-2 flyable with FC3 cockpit - so maybe possible? ED is working an a much improved 3d model & animations, but not sure if modders are allowed to port official aircraft across & add flyable cockpits? But VSN mods look very similar to ED models (but that maybe a testament to their ability ) Hopefully the limited sub base gets expanded in terms of quantity & functionality (like the ability to dive now) This could provide an interesting & varied sets of mission sets for a carrier air group, especially in a MP server. Where the current traditional FA-18 / F-14 & AV-8B could carry on doing their thing. But could used modded assets to provide dedicated secondary support missions, such as AWACS (E-2 using F10 screen), EA-6B (Electronic Counter Measures) & S-3 (Counter Surface & Subsurface threats) -
Hi Rudel, apologies for late reply - Its one of Hawkeye60's many great mods. I managed to find link below: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/251986-the-warbird-hanger/#comment-4471097 I just did a hack job on the livery (cut & paste from an old IL2 game) so not 100% aligned & don't know if its ligit to publicly share then? I can maybe share the livery privately - if you want it? Just PM me. PS traveling at the moment - so might be a day or 2

LOL Hawkeye60 was going to post a link to your sheep flock from Animals 1.1 mod (2018) - that still works! But will wait for your update The flock moves as well (but no animations) Thanks for all your contributions to the immersion of the game

Any Good Ground Object Mods Out There!
ggrewe replied to JOEM423's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hawkeye60 just posted some Nuclear reactor buildings, if you haven't seen them yet https://forum.dcs.world/topic/297817-the-power-and-chemical-plant-mods/ -
Looks great! Very interested in your flat field & land textures. Have always looked at ways to amend the current WWII Normandy map which is currently set up as Post DDay Invasion with most of the Temporary Allied Airfields already set up (DDay + 40) and includes at least 20 of these temporary Airfields. Not really immersive for scenarios in the build up to DDay & the intense action shortly after! These flat textures could be quick ways to place over these flat airfields to try hide them. Can delete the current buildings (Hangers etc) with the Mission Editor. Would also need rows of trees to try blend into the current Bocage scenery Would be a great way of hiding all these Temporary Airfields & slowly unveil them as they were actually constructed to make a truly Historical Campaign. Thanks for your work & will follow with interest.

FRENCHPACK V4.9.1 Update on 27/04/2022
ggrewe replied to dimitriov's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi Sepp, if you open the Toyota.lua file in the main folder, you can edit yourself. Just add "--" in front of the line (found near the bottom of the file) GT.Countries = {..... Then should be able to be played by any nation. Can do for all Vehicles. Hope that helps -
Hi NoFear - response from Tanax, on how to make infantry move & interact again - hope that helps?

We take it for granted, being aircraft enthusiasts, but was a real problem in WWII. Footage of Mustangs downing a Brit. Mosquito, mistaking it for a German Me210/410 Youtube: Mustangs down a friendly Mosquito

...speaking of which...would you consider partnering with the talented team that has brought the UH-60L to the game, to add your considerable abilities to create crew loadouts to their mod? Would be an amazing combination of talent

Damn Eightball - you are a regular genius! Your unique & beautifully rendered mods are amazing. You have an artistic ability & eye for detail that are a credit to the modding community, and we are privileged to have a modder of your ability. You just need to bolt speakers & surfboards on the sides - we can add the background music "Ride of the Valkyries" in mission Ride of the Valkyries

HH-60 / MH-60 Seahawk Mod (AI only)
ggrewe replied to rato65's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Yes - Done by HawkEye https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/280546-civil-ships-and-fantasy-cruisers/#comment-4763355 -
It amazes me the work that Hawkeye constantly puts in (with the likes of Markindle, Cuesta Bro, SUNTSAG etc) Not only constantly bring new models but constantly updating code to work with new official updates, that break it. Don't get me wrong, ED has the right to run his own game the way he wants & at least allows some modding. But with a handful of WWII aircraft & ships, DCS WWII would not function - if not for the WWII Mod community. I count close on 30 Mod aircraft & 50 ships that I use to cover where DCS does not have official assets. So if I have not said thank you enough already, Hawkeye - please accept thanks from me & I'm sure the rest of the WWII community for all the amazing & tireless work you & the rest of the Mod community do for us - FOR FREE! Much appreciated

Sounds like a great idea - been thinking about it for awhile as well. I loved the FC3 pack - great value for money & easier for me to get into tackling the intimidating task of flying in DCS WWII does not have enough aircraft & would provide competition for IL2 as a starter pack. I know it takes such a long time to create each aircraft with Eagle Dynamics standards - but if they did do simpler cockpits etc, will be faster to create & attract more players - who maybe intimidated by current all the bells & whistles to fly - like I was. Would love a BOB pack, where they could create some new aircraft, but also use existing models of Spit IX & Me-109K to derive earlier versions e.g. Spit Mk I,II or V & Me-109E or F, by using existing external model & cockpits with small modifications & easier flying dynamics. Can also added more AI variants from existing AI or Modules, like Boston bomber from A-20, Ju-88C & G to oppose Mosquito, P-47B, P-51B,c. Surely faster & more cost effective than starting from scratch? I love WWII & DCS, but it is not a cheap game - I have spent over $600 on all my modules already. DCS can't compete with the content IL2 puts out, as it specializes in WWII, while DCS covers WWII to Modern (late Cold War) period. I would love to buy more WWII content with my limited funds, but it costs dearly, as does IL2 - but you get more bang for your buck there. The difference is DCS is such a better game with the integration of assets & its sheer beauty. Plus it allows Mods (although begrudgingly, by the feel of it) The Mods cover a huge amount of content & it is thanks to the Mod community that I play DCS WWII. But Mods can also be intimidating for new players & you need cost effective official content to attract new player to DCS WWII

Love collaborations - gets the best out of the talented modding community & we are the grateful recipients. Thanks very much in advance

The Crimea salient saw a lot of WWII combat, including major air engagements from 1941-1944. The siege of Sevastopol being one of the epic battles there. Maybe they could detail the already existing map as a WWII environment & create a hybrid of the free Caucasus Map? It is not being used anyway & is about the same size as the Channel map (which is really just an extension of the Normandy Map as well) Can use the existing I-16 (Russia), Me-109K,FW-190A & D, Ju-88 (German), A-20G & Spitfire (Lend-Lease) I know some of the German stuff is quite late war, but can pretend is earlier models. What are the I-16 owners fighting now, anyway? Ground units would have to be Lend Lease for Russians, as have no dedicated units yet (e.g. Sherman, Churchill, Trucks, Jeep etc) I'm quite surprised Eagle Dynamics - a company with Russian roots has not developed more Russian Aircraft or Assets for WWII, or indicated any movement in that direction? But if they could develop the WWII area with an existing map - could launch a great platform to start an Eastern Front module with more aircraft (AI & Flyable) plus ground assets down the line. I know the purists might moan - but that area of the Caucasus is not used now anyway & could get the best of both worlds. Also will be less work & faster that a totally new map. But new map can also be done further down the line as well. My 2 cents worth https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipP4lNlcwATHT1cbq6gFadsr2nr5DIsg7FqMaD3M/photo/AF1QipPu-08VhZt9Ny4ehliTNWJHzyZignsOeNw2b5nH
