Amen, such great attention to detail on the warbirds and they fly so believable to me, granted never flown a warbird. This is what keeps me here, their may be more fleshed out options out their but they just dont feel like a good flight model and modeling like we are so fortunate to have in DCS. Just flew a mission with 3 ai fellas in Spits and hit 4 different german columns. Top knotch recreation of these Birds! Look forward to the future of ww2 and i suspect before 2019 is up we will have some more goodies. Like seriously get the campaigns for normandy, and watch bunyap channel on his 4 months in a Spit Squadron videos. Heck in watching that i learned D9 long nose 190 where spotted and encountered in july of 44 over Normandy.

Be cool to get mini subs as they where a thing in Normandy..... as ai asset that is

Anyways more important things....

What are the chances we will see a B-17 DLC some day?
Sniper175 replied to oscar19681's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
Exactly this:thumbup: -
Well like you said the exact.... airframe does not exist so the closest thing out their is what are at airshows and what not. Either way it would be an improvement to what we currently have in game for the d9, and k4 Virginia has a D9 flyable granted from what that museum said its a reproduction. Cool place in germany has the g14 flying around that would be a great source

The kneeboard functionality is basically a stand in for the pilot and or mission briefing room currently where you do all that cool pre mission tactical stuff. So if they don't overhaul or add in a totally new system aka a pre mission briefing room where you can plan flight and your Airframe setup then Kneeboard is probably the quickest way to implement it. I would much rather have a briefing room or Hanger type setup before flying myself. :pilotfly:

First excellent sounds on the Spit! Curious if their is plans to update the K4 and D9 sound set also?

Or since this is a sim and not a Esport, engine on timers deal here, make it a part of the virtual hangar. Aka incorporate into f10, or a kneeboard thing like some of the modern stuff has. My two cents

I would imagine war time operations of ww2, not todays overly regulated metho:thumbup:ds....

Drama queens, sound like most who are upset are more concerned with online stats... Keep up great work and look froward to dcs progression in the future.

Been doing allot of testing. I’ve come to a personal conclusion that it’s all about shot placement and volley of fire. Especially .50cals. I think currently the damage model is at its best in each aircraft until new damage model comes out. It seems to me much more systems are modeled and become inoperable do to damage which is a cool thing. At first it seemed the 109 an iron ass but doing repeated drills with p51 you must be within the convergence settings and get a good volley in the right spot. Same goes against a p51, you can pew pew all day hitting non vital systems but need to hit the vital areas to take it down instantly. Anyways look forward to jug and new damage model, lots of penetration taking out systems will indeed be fun:thumbup:

Yes that german speech mod changed atc calls and atc to german and other flights. Its the real deal. Using it now in your campaign and its great. -
Esports, air quake. those 8 fifties will be lovely in ground and train smashing for me anyway

Ok quick AAR Awesome mission, i mean wow you should really put a campaign together you have the skillset my friend. Performance: Like always with big missions like this its a uphill battle for pc hardware. But with my rig and running vr it was totally playable. On the ground for start up i was in 20 fps but after that it settled at lock 40 for me with vr Rift S. Had a few dips when things spawned in but that is normal. I got a direct hit with the bomb on one of the ships took some flak from the ship and got jumped by a Spit. Lots of fun Ill upload pics of the battle damage. Cool thing to note after the spit hammered me he broke off maybe the new AI thought i was done for....? Made it back to base had a good landing despite all the damage. as a cool note in regards to A8 damage model which i find Superb 1.inside cockpit: Radio Inop, fuel gauge Inop, Pitch Trim indicator inop. Also oil gauge temp either inop or engine was so cool do to lose of Faring...? 2. Outside damage: Nose guns inop, also inner wing guns inop Back to mission: Weather is excellent really potrays the weather in europe perfectly and adds much immersion to the mission. The german comms well i dont speak german well so for me it was atmospheric lol Ill have to run it a few more times as this is fun and really captures the sense of fighting back an invasion!

Looks great, will give it a try today. From that screenshot looks impressive and great European weather!

Rgr good to know, haven’t done any online yet. I just use the instant action Normandy missions so from months ago use to overheat in auto in those. Now haven’t yet.
-
Ya my sop was always manual control, but have since resorted to auto and nothing catastrophic has happened yet like in the past. More testing needed and will be done
-
I have to say, with testing the last few days the auto function works much better on all warbirds that use it these days. As compared to six months ago. For instance in the spit and mustang I have not had to use manual radiator cooling in dog fights as compared to six ish months ago it was required or engine overheat and die.. My observations
-
If it’s quarter inch to half inch plate it should, depends on what else the round flew through to get to the plate too. Looking at the data of this new damage model, it seems to take all that into consideration.
-
That’s not what he is saying. If it’s just bullet holes I agree it won’t do much as far as drag goes, if it’s a big gaping whole from flak or a canon shot different story. I watched the YouTube video, I also think it was obviously bullet sponge. But again today nineline on discord said damage model will fix all this, until then we get frustrated with obvious some bugs and errors. Also .50cal which I’ve used allot of in real life on the ground is a penetrator, so we should see the beauty of that in new damage model. Getting deep into critical system’s. Ps dogfight ai is awesome now keep up those improvements

Bf 109 K-4 Jagdflieger Campaign info
Sniper175 replied to Reflected's topic in Bf 109 K-4 Jagdflieger Campaign
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2161798/ This is a must have! Did the same with your others but with the brit voice mod Love your campaigns, going through them again and cant wait to do them with new damage model. One question, i love your checklists you have for campaign and i fly in vr. Is their a way i can have your checklist for the ww2 birds outside of the campaigns? Thanks -
I did some testing on my own last night in both the spit and p51 against 109. My observations 109 has an error with damage model currently as multiple hits in engine compartment and 109 billowing black smoke it was still out performing and shooting down my ai wingman. But it can be 50/50 sometimes they lose performance other times not the case. Observing the 109 via f2 view it was clear that many rounds hat hit engine compartment but yet still fully operational at times. But in a separate instance in the spit I had emptied my guns taking one 109 down then working on second 109 ran out of Ammo. 109 was hit multiple times in engine area according to observation via f2. But with the spit at full combat power and roughly 500 ft I was able to outrun the 109 to a friendly airfield. So some performance degradation was apparent in this engagement. I unfortunately did not take screenshots of the affair. But used the instant action Normandy mission in the spit for that case. One possibility currently is that the visual damage on the 109 does not match the actual bullet termination points.? Also take note it’s been six months since flying warbirds so airmanship and marksmanship is rusty

Issue is owners don’t want multimillion dollar war trophy aircraft running that high, which sucks.

Not according to wags, as stated in his comment on YouTube video recently.
