If your altitude is too high for the current weight of the Ka-50 to hover when you try to auto-hover it will disengage the stability channels.

Ya... welcome Wizz! I'm still using the older trim implementation in the frequent "trim and move" style. I use the FD mode when running in for a rocket/strafe attack or any hard/evasive maneuvering so I don't have to fight the AP channels when I'm trying to survive. Any aerobatics I do is with the FD on as well. I tried the new trimmer system and found it was difficult to get used to re-centering the stick all the time and I hated the times I felt like I had no control. I haven't messed with the values as of yet but will try it out and see how it goes. Subs... I use all 4 channels.

This needs a topic of it's own! Exclusive SimHQ screenshots from the upcoming DCS: A-10C http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_425a.html

"Explode WP marker" is the trigger.

The picture can be found in the Lock On Logbook under Canada. :) Wags is there as well as some others involved with Eagle Dynamics.

No problem! I was flying a Pilatus PC-12 at the time and the place is Cambridge Bay, Nunavut in the Canadian arctic. Cheers

Too funny Tim! The avatar you are using is a picture of me from about 8 years ago!

SimHQ Training Classes available for download
Shepski replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
There is no track... it's a mission file only. Start the mission and then once in the chopper start the wave and follow along with what the voice is saying doing the actions and maneuvers as if you were in the training session. -
Best way to go about that is to enter the LAT/LONG in the PVI "NAV TGT" mode so you don't have to overwrite an existing waypoint in your flightplan. This way you still get full auto-pilot route mode capability.

SimHQ Training Classes available for download
Shepski replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi guys, What SimHQ has provided are the mission files I made up for the training as well as the expanded syllabus and soundtrack. The actual track files are from 15 to 18 MB in size and I have played them back but unfortunately they play back at 1 FPS or less. What you can do is to run and fly the mission yourself with the voice track playing and follow along. -
Hey... your avatar is a picture of me! :)

I think it looks great but is too bright for the theater... go with the same pattern but tone down the brightness... it's not very good cammo.

'Laser' Malfunction after RE-ARM bug - any news?
Shepski replied to Dropbear's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
How about the Ka-50 was never designed to be operated long enough in one mission to ever come close to reaching the lifespan of the laser. It's also possible the laser receives routine mtce during down time. You guys are flying it as if mtce is not a concern... just keep rearming and heading off to blow stuff up as long as you want. Well, as you now know, the machine has limits. :) -
Target points are ones you set up in the editor under the targeting button for each helicopter. You can set points for a space on the ground, vehicles, or objects. These will show up on the ABRIS when you select the "NAV TGT" button on the PVI and press a number button corresponding to the target point you want to see. This what EB is refering to. Target zones, what I thought you were refering to, are user created boxes displayed on the ABRIS. You can draw lines for things like a FLOT or a defined area and label them. As well you can add and name differnet types of refernce points(Nav aids, landmarks, etc) on the map. These are made and saved with the ABRIS as I pointed out above.

'Laser' Malfunction after RE-ARM bug - any news?
Shepski replied to Dropbear's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Is it realistic for a real Ka-50 pilot to take off on a mission and return to land and rearm multiple times with a 30 second break between take of and landing(the amount of time in game for a hot rearm and refuel)? Don't you think routine maintenance would be required in that time frame? Is it realistic for a real Ka-50 to have it's laser powered long enough to reach it's operational life in one mission? You want realism but when it doesn't suit your needs you complain... the developers just can't win. -
All bases covered! Thanks EB!

Hi Dusty! They can but you have to create them on the ABRIS using the "prepare mission" mode and then save the data through the ABRIS. Then, if you want other players in a MP session to have the same info on their ABRIS you have to share the respective files(Navigation.lua and additional.lua) from the uncompressed mission zip file. See here: Page 56/57 of the GUI manual Page 3-39 in the Flight manual

Is enroutenav possible with Abris data ?
Shepski replied to Schnarre Aggro's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Nope... the PVI is independent and you would have to manually enter the LAT/LONG from the ABRIS waypoints into the PVI. -
Watch the airshow tracks in the "replay" section of the main menu. Once it has started press F1 to view them from inside the cockpit.

Night/ Low visibility missions? What's the point?
Shepski replied to BaD CrC's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Ground stabilize the Shkval and the Vikhr will to fly to that spot if in range. The cannon works the same way... no need to have a lock and autotrack. -

You don't have to lock a target with the Shkval to fire a Vikhr or the cannon at night. Night missions are entirely plausible and a good challenge. -
Canadian North Airlines on a 737-200 adv. Our SOP has no mention of an inflight cross bleed start. We would do a windmilling start and if that failed we would continue single engine. The restart envelope is as low as 160 KIAS. Like I said, I can't see a situation where you couldn't descend to a lower altitude and do a windmilling start where by an inflight cross bleed start was required but I guess the newer machines have that option as mentioned above.
-
For jet airliners, cross bleed starts on the ground are used on aircraft without a working APU... start #1 engine with an external air source then start #2 using cross bleed. There would never be an occasion to require a cross bleed start while airborne... you would always use a windmill start. _________________________________ The icing model is temp only... the team are working on a temp/visible moisture model for the future.
