With the active pedals it could be possible to program the software if you push one pedal forward the other could move into the opposite direction. And if you only have space for one simsetup and the money, it's gonna be a great solution to enjoy racing and flying on the same rig. Edit: I would shoot an email to the company who makes the pedals you are interested in and ask them directly.

Had a couple of miles leftover, paid only 36$. Can't complain.

If you go for a second setup and you have a bit of money to spend you should get a FFB stick. It can mimic any flightcontrols you want. If you look for a collective, there is user K51 who builds collectives. He got a own thread in the for sale section He also makes different heads now for his collective but you have to go through the thread since i bought mine in 21. But it's a really good product sofar and i only paid like 250€ with shipping.

You could backup everything that's "suspicious" to you, like folders and stuff you don't really know what they are for on an external drive. Delete everything suspicous and see if you can free up some space. If things start to fall apart you could use the backup from the external drive and put it back to onedrive. The whole user folder structure with saved games and documents and so on is going south the more stuff you install and uninstall. Because not every uninstall gets rid of all the files in the user folder.

Proposal: Free modern onboarding and/or trainer module
erniedaoage replied to Luca Kowalski's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I also can't fathom anyone needing a tourist guide when they go on vacation and it's still a very lucrative business. Also there is a big difference in how you learn for yourself through videos or being instructed by an experienced/professional person. I can take off and land almost every module i have, but i am quite sure i am not doing the proper landing procedures. Every new module i buy, i set up the controls go for a free flight and try to land it. Everybody has a different approach how they enjoy their install of DCS. I am going to read further instructions on how to setup weapons/navigation/... as i progress through campaigns or missions and i start to fail at some point. And the more i get into a module the more i learn and read about it. Till i am at the point where i know how to cold start it. But why should i waste time on cold start procedures when i can hit autostart and get things going, its a game in the end and i can restart anytime. Whatever floats your boat, i have never done a checklist startup ever and i lost a couple of canopies on the runway. -
Proposal: Free modern onboarding and/or trainer module
erniedaoage replied to Luca Kowalski's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This whole thing with veterans teaching beginners could work, if ED would implement an official service for it through their website and new players have an easy access to the service. Click on a link, fill out a form, wait for the response of an instructor to get your training lessons going. They could add a L39 without the weapon systems for free probably for exactly that purpose. The entry barrier is a completely different thing in my eyes, because it's still a lot of work to setup everything and if you don't have a lot of experience with setting up games and controls, everything is overwhelming. -

So you really think ED would be that greedy, a company with subdivisions around the globe, with it's own employees and a monopoly in the modern era combat flight simulations market?(Some people will say they own the whole market because there is no competition) With their own military software which they already distributed for years? Sorry but that doesn't fit into my frame of the picture. Even everybody has to remember that ED stepped in, after the last <profanity>storm they faced(couple years ago in the old forum), to assure us as customers and community that RB is still passionate about developing modules for DCS. Everything i experienced with RB is from DCS alone, i don't know their past with other simulators, but for me it seems that RB is a one-man show with a lot of sub contractors. Shifting the blame like it's being done right now, is a common practice in modern corporations and i bet a lot of you guys experienced that in your daily life. My whole guestimation why RB is pulling the plug is the simple fact, that RB can't guarantee updates to all modules because a lot of past sub contractors are gone already and it's quite a lot of work to go through code from other people, understand it and build upon it, or rewrite it. But that's just my speculation with everything that happend so far and it would fit into my picture. We will never get the truth we can only watch and observe what's gonna happen. But honestly for me it doesn't look like, that the guy, who implemented the breaking point for the radar in the mudhen, will come back and pick up his work again, if he wasn't paid in the first place. But we will see what's gonna happen. My solution would be that ED gets the rights to all the 3D work, so the modules stay in the sim as AI and some other 3rd party could pick up the project and start coding right away. This will delay everything, but as we all know in DCS it's often better to start all over again instead of trying to fix the spaghetti legacy code. -
From my experience it depends if the actual switch, like in your state the dispensers switch, is pressed all the time, or if there is just a little impulse, when you switch it in position. If the button is permanently pressed, it should return the correct state in the cockpit. At least that is my experience so far with DCS and my buttonbox.

You could use it as an axis to controll the target designator. But i would use the button to add another modifier and double my buttons on the stick, like alt, ctrl and shift ist used. Or you could use it as a zoom axis to zoom in and out. You will always return to your normal flying position, as long as you fly on a monitor and not in VR.

I believe it's somewheree at the device list in the meta quest software. I am not at home right now, but i believe it's there when you setup everything, you can also setup your playspace.

Looking for quality Headset w/Mic..
erniedaoage replied to The_Nephilim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-1?color=black Thats my recommendation if you look for something lightweight. It's quite a good budget headset and the soundquality is quite good. But i have to say i game with it most of the time. It's comfortable and you won't hear much from your surroundings. I can't talk about the mic quality since i haven't used it much since i got it. But in the games i used it, nobody complaint so far. -
I don't know if i remember it right, but before the announcement of the apache, there were talks about the cobra. And i think someone said the are using the apache as a testbed for the george ai and it will be easier to impement it into the cobra. Instead of doing it the other way around. But i could be false i mean it's a couple of years ago since there were talks about a cobra.

Pretty dead in here. Losing hope...

Thank you for the lecture. I am not a native speaker so every explanation is welcome. Didn't even know that it's a religious word, cause i've never looked it up before reading this thread. -

Conan does, because he knows what's best in life! Sorry i couldn't resist on that one. -
I bought mine with the damper and it works like a charm. I can't say they feel sticky, but different to pure springs. It's a bit hard to explain, i still can make small adjustments in warbirds and helis. But it doesn't feel sticky like the TM 16000 pedals or throttle i owned. It feels different to a normal spring.

It's mostly immersion, so you can feel the plane and what's going on. For example if you pull g and you reach a certain point the stick can shake/vibrate so you get feedback that you are pulling to much g and loosing to much energy. When you trim your aircraft or helicopter the stick stays on its position like in the virtual aircraft. So it's not centering in the middle like a spring stick. In warbirds your stick gets heavier the faster you go. And if you are a real pilot or know a real pilot, you can set up the stick so that it feels kinda the real aircraft. Precision depends more on an extension, because the longer your stick the bigger the action radius of the stick itself gets. Not every FFB stick will give you more precision, but if you are able to fit an extension on it, you are increasing your precision significantly.

Force Feedback Support in DCS?
erniedaoage replied to mytai01's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
All modules have generic support (haven't tested the mig19 from my signature, but everything else seems to have ffb for me). Generic support like the Stick moves with the trim in game. Stick gets heavier in the ww2 birds as you increase speed, feels lump when you loose your elevator. In the F5 you can feel the limiter on the roll axis, so you need a little bit more force to push through to full deflection. F14 and F4 have special FFB options and effects integrated in the module itself. All of that you get with a microsoft ffb 2. All newer ffb sticks, like the rhino, moza, brunner and ffbeast use their own software, to get telemetry from the game and generate their own effects. -
How much do you use rudder pedals *after* take-off?
erniedaoage replied to Sunbather's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
You can enjoy DCS with whatever you have. I bet some people are even flying with a xbox controller or use keyboard and mouse. It just gets more "realistic" or in a better term "immersive" with added controllers. My only advice to you is, when you go for rudder pedals, get some proper ones around the 200 price segment. Because if you go in for a metal construction, the pedals will last forever. When you buy cheap plastic ones, there comes a point where the crap is breaking apart somewhere and usually most of them use pots instead of hall effect sensors. -

We will know after the dispute ist settled. It doesn't even matter how it turns out, all that matters is what's going on after everything is resolved. Surely ED and RB will (hopefully) have an emergency plan and we don't run into another veao fiasco. You can get your pitchfork out as soon as everything turns out the same way as with veao. But you can also stay at home, till the end of your life, because there is always a possibility that a malfunctioning airplane is trying to land on top of you. It's your choice. -

Anyone still using MS or Logi FFB stick?

Oh yeah good idea with the ffb switch. I should consider this option if i am going for the resistor mod. -

Nice work looks really good. What does that switch do on the base between button 8 and the thrustslider? -
Sticktrim doesn't work and the last time i checked the mig19 and harrier both felt like its a spring loaded stick. Without any feedback at all.
