  1. I know that there are more important things on the "to do" list and by no means I'm not trying to change the order but I was just curious if switching the aircraft off was still work in progress. All I mean by that is the engine sounds that vanish in seconds and the elevators that.. don't drop with the hydraulics off. IIRC the former is to do with the amount of sounds DCS can use per aircraft (?) but the latter is simply an animation that needs adding. I have seen numerous photos of cold Tomcats parked with their elevators down giving them a cool look :P That's all :D
  2. OK - got it to work.. phewwwww! :D It turns out I had a "moment".. In the Virpil Software I didn't notice I need to select my device from the list (!). After that a firmware update and calibration did the trick! Such a relief! Now I can get back flying! :D
  3. I received my VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base and VPC V.F.X Grip. After plugging it in however, the movement is recognised on Windows level in the Game Controllers but the buttons are not. I connected my TM grip to the VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base but got the same results. The X & Y axis are working but non of the buttons are.. Does this mean the base connector is broken? There are no drivers for Virpil devices, right? They are plug&play, correct? I installed the VPC Configuration software from Virpil website and I can choose my base but the grip drop down list is empty.. Am I missing anything or are these the symptoms of a broken base? Thanks!
  4. It's good to be a military flight sim enthusiast these days :) Awesome work - can't wait!
  5. I think we all let our frustration come out too much at times. I'm also on the lookout for ANY Tomcat-related entries in the weekly patch notes every Wednesday. It literary hurts when I find nothing there for my beloved bird. However, we all need to understand that: - HB are a small team and this is their hobby (!) - we already have a lot (most complete early access plane ever?) - Tomcat development continues - HB plans are clear and transparent - no dates have been set in stone Knowing the above we need to focus on the positives. I mean 7 years ago F-14 in DCS was a clear "NO". Today we fly the most detailed incarnation of this beautiful aircraft ever made for a sim.. and the sim itself has never been growing so fast! I think there are good times ahead. I just hope that Heatblur manage to combine their efforts (like they have been so far), beat the bugs (pun intended! :P ), add the missing extras and deliver on the highest possible quality level, which by the way is their standard! Semper Fi HB! :cheer3nc:
  6. Damn, I want to believe what you're saying but none of that forward stick pushing is ever seen in the videos: They just pull (or inertia does its work), roll off the deck and centre with a nice 30-degree climb occurring next.
  7. Wow! Thanks for your answer! However, I'm not asking why the stabs are fully up (stick pulled back). I'm asking why is such stabiliser position causing me to go nearly vertical in DCS when none of this happens in the videos? To simulate the inertia stab movement during cat acceleration I tried creating this deflection manually but no matter how quickly I centre the stick/stabs after my gear leaves the deck I end up looking up into the sky instead of only achieving a ~30-degree pitch up..
  8. In many videos showing the Tomcat taking off from a carrier I noticed that during the 2 - 3 second launch the pilot is gradually pulling the stick so that the elevators are pretty much fully deflected the moment when wheels leave the deck. If we do it in DCS we end up pretty much stalling the aircraft and usually with a 60+ degree nose up. Is this realistic?
  9. Thank you for a swift reply.
  10. Hello ED! Should we expect any OB patch tomorrow (04/12)? Thanks
  11. Thank you all very much for comprehensive answers!
  12. I have an Nvidia RTX2080 Ti. Gpu Integer scaling?
  13. Thanks. What is considered a better visual option: 4k with no SSAA or 1440p with? Thanks
  14. I play in 3840 x 2160
  15. I just noticed my SSAA setting is set to OFF and.. that's the only setting I can have. Has this function been disabled (I play DCS Open Beta)? Can other settings disable this one? Thanks!
  16. When trying to drop GBUs as both Pilot and RIO I discovered something that on one hand is not really a bug but on the other can be slightly annoying. I mapped some functionality to the switches on my TM Throttle, e.g. I operate the gears with the APU ON/OFF switch. After dropping my LGBs and approaching the airport for landing I noticed that in order to get my landing gear down I need to flip the APU switch down, up and down again. It turns out that changing places with JESTER and ICEMAN "resets" the state of controls in the cockpit. The gear still works when pressed with the mouse cursor but any bound switches will need a "reset" to kick in. As I said, I don't see this as a bug but I thought I just drop a note about it.
  17. Hi, Could we talk about the below changes from yesterday's patch? I welcomed them with a smile on my face but some still remain unclear. Perhaps you could help me understand: 1. "Increased IR signature for the F-14" Do we know if this was drastic? Has anyone noticed a change? 2. "TCS: you can now fire phoenix and sparrow missiles on targets that have the radar slaved to TCS;WIP/not yet implemented: lock azimuth to TCS angle for RDR supersearch" Does this require a live RIO in the back? Could anyone describe me the process of doing this? 3. "Fix: Allow half-action HCU slewing in TV mode to override slave to STT for TCS direction" Again, do we need a real RIO for this? How does this work? 4. "Tweaked missile loadout drag values on all stations" Was drag added or removed? Anybody noticed a difference? 5. "Improved lead pursuit steering solution for missile launches" Is this talking about actual missile behaviour or just the graphical solutions we see on VFI? I wish I was at home this week to test & educate myself in regards to the above. Instead, I will greatly appreciate your responses.. :) Thanks!
  18. That's weird :/ I only had "5 minutes" to check last night but of the 3 MHs I launched from 15 - 18 miles none got to the target (AI Su-27)..
  19. Awesome! Never lose hope ;)
  20. Not even a single line on the Tomcat in today's patch notes?!
  21. Dino's mod a well as IRIS' Tomcat were those "other" :)
  22. I must have been 6 or 7 when my dad (a helicopter pilot in the Polish Airforce) showed me "Encyklopedia Techniki Wojskowej" - "Encyclopaedia of Military Technology". That book was the door to another world, a world of cross-sections, statistics, technical data and above all - photographs.. I don't know how accurate it was but considering it has been released in 1988 in a country that belonged to the Warsaw Pact, for citizens "protected" purely by Soviet equipment I can only imagine it glorified technical solutions of the Eastern Block over those of the West. However, it also contained priceless scraps of information on the equipment from America... And there, among the black-and-white photos I saw her for the first time.. The shape of the radar cone and cockpit, the wing sweep mechanism, crew of two, carrier capability, the Phoenix... I was blown away by what that aircraft could do! Shortly after that, a documentary about naval aviators I saw on TV cemented my love as among other facts I learnt about the ability to deploy six AIM-54s "simultaneously". I started gathering anything and everything Tomcat-related, from plastic models and stickers to photos and walkarounds. LEGO blocks served as the perfect building material in my attempts to recreate the characteristic lines of the F-14. Early simulations on my Amiga 1200 containing the Tomcat such as Combat Air Patrol were spicing things up even more. When I first watched Top Gun I couldn't sleep at night.. Of course I was going to be Maverick when I grow up! Desert Storm and later the Kosovo War brought live feed of the Tomcat operations. I remember watching CNN journalists commenting live from the deck of the supercarrier with F-14s being launched in the background, barely understanding the atrocities of war.. Years later I decided to stop being a "user" and start being a "creator". Through MSFS2004 forums I met Steve Hinson, a retired B-52 pilot who was a modder creating a flyable F-14 for that sim. We decided to collaborate and model what we believed was going to be the best Tomcat mod for Microsoft's Flight Simulator. We spent countless hours talking through Skype and studying NATOPS manuals. Unfortunately, Steve passed away before our work was completed and I was left with a half-finished model in 3D Studio Max. Others released incredible mods simulating my beloved aircraft but there was always something missing - if not the inferior flight model then the inability to deploy weapons. Other sims, no matter how detailed and amazing were all missing that one particular airframe. My questions on the implementation of the Tomcat were met with a negative response. "We lack the technology to realistically simulate the 2-man crew and it is unlikely that this aircraft will ever come to our sim". And of course there also was Iran.. Despite that, after years of prayers and an incredible technological leap the world of sims has made the Turkey finally came home – to my SSD :) This plane has been a symbol of freedom (!), power and cool for most of my life. Her shapes, capabilities and heritage have captured my soul and never let go. From the moment I first saw the wide fuselage and wings fully spread on final approach I knew she was mine and I was hers ;) Eagle Dynamics and Heatblur have both attended the wedding ceremony… XD Never say "Never", Baby!
  23. Copy that, over & out
