One more symptom of the gear circuit breaker animation issue. I'm aware now that you need to click the CB on for the gear to work, and there'll be no animation of the button or click sound. But when you hit the red button to turn it off you will hear a click. But unlike every other circuit breaker, you'll hear the red button click again if you press it again. (If the CB switch is already popped up there's nothing to make a click sound and all of the other CB's only allow one red click, repeated clicks on the red button produce no sound or animation.) Maybe a clue there.

I just tried to reproduce it and couldn't, the canopy closed fine after a repair. (But the ground crew then refused to rearm me.) I think you're right about the canopy eject, I hadn't tried that until now but it produces the same symptoms. I don't remember hitting it but I might have. And I figured out what that knob moving in/out is supposed to be, it's so you can select a comfortable position for the crank. Odd that it would only work when the canopy is ejected though. I also noticed a sound when cranking the canopy, after you hit the limit of travel part of the cranking sound continues even though no controls are moving. It's not the entire crank sound, maybe just the sound of the canopy rails?

There's already a different model for the cockpit interior that replaces some of the exterior model when you're viewing from in-cockpit. All they need to do is make that model match what you see from the interior, not what's actually there. It won't matter if it's not right on the outside as you can't put your head outside (VR cheating excepted). And anyone viewing externally will see the proper external model.

The Spitfire has been doing this forever as well. I've observed it on Yak-52s as well. It's like it's a stand-in for missing damage models or something.

I don't think so. I used the keyboard mapping first, saw the knob on the wheel moving in and out (it's like it's coming off its bearing) and no effect on the canopy, then tried with the mouse and had the same effect. No canopy motion, crank knob moves in and out. Tried the key combination for closing the canopy too but neither direction had any effect.

I know repairs are hit or miss even in the "finished" planes. But after a repair (done with the canopy open) not only could I not close the canopy either from the mapped keyboard keys or with the mouse, but the crank handle appeared to be moving in and out instead of turning the crank (both mouse and keyboard actuation caused this).

Do you have the new AutoTrim feature turned on by any chance? (Not an A8 feature, affects all planes.) Definitely turn it off, it's unrealistic and unhelpful.

[REPORTED] Exhaust Flame bug fixed in 2.5.5.32299!
SMH replied to Shahdoh's topic in Bugs and Problems
Looks like it was "fixed" by removing them entirely. Easier than correcting their positions I guess. :( -
I can see it clearly with TrackIR and my butt firmly in my seat. (But yeah, VR should have the same head position limits as any other view mode.)

[REPORTED] Click hotspots for prop RPM don't move with throttle.

Yet they do. The reason nobody's finding them is they don't move with the throttle control. Again, just mouse over around the gear indicator lights and you'll see the cursor change over the hotspots and their tooltips come up. -
It's the impact on water. It only appears to blur your cowling (and even cockpit interior and gunsight) because it's a 2D displacement effect that's done after the 3D render is complete, so it doesn't know what objects are in front of it. It's pretty inappropriate as water splashes don't distort what's behind them. Makes aiming at anything in the water impossible after the first rounds hit. (The splashes seem way too big as well but at least they don't blur your gunsight.) Anyway, not a 190 issue, gun and cannon rounds from any aircraft do it when they hit water. Hope it goes away next update, it's unrealistic and unhelpful.

Cockpit textures seem like the old ones for BF109/190 used to...

Not using VR but I agree. -
Is the trick maybe which fuel pump breakers you have activated?
-
That's it! It's not the gear or its control switches, it's the gear's circuit breaker that's stuck permanently down even when it's off. It looks like it's on by default at spawn time but it's not, you have to click it (and it won't move, it also won't pop up if you hit the red button). The gear seem very sensitive to airspeed too but that's to be expected. Finally I can fly this online! Not sure why it only happens in multiplayer. Probably the variable is uninitalized and it's whatever was in memory when the object is instantiated.

Why are VR users allowed to put their heads in impossible positions? Seems an unfair advantage.
-
Yep. Wasn't in the original release, you could see your cowl flaps if you looked there, but Friday's OB update broke it.

Got in one in an offline dogfight with a MiG-21 just last night. Speaking of which, is there a way for those of us with single throttle controllers to chop throttle on only one engine and not the other? (Short of killing the engine, of course. I want idle, not cutoff.)

How about... LAlt+G: Toggle gear lock. LShift+G: Gear lever down one step LCtrl+G: Gear lever up one step G: The current fully automated "idiot mode" (which I will promptly unmap)

The pilot's head shadow disappears on the inner part of the wing too, but not the outer. On many aircraft, but definitely the WWII birds.

Cool, thanks!

Looks great! Will it be PFM?
