Could the gunsight be from an A-6 Intruder? Same generation as the F-4. They are showing the model a lot for an AI only plane. Thought Paris and London being modeled is interesting. Hope they expand Channel to do Market Garden.

More focus on existing modules and core game first
Grimleo replied to Racoon-1-1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
From a coding standpoint, a lot of the systems and weapons are shared between the F/A-18C and the F-16. You code a simulated AN/APG-73 radar and it becomes the starting point for a AN/APG-68 radar. Yes, the models, FM, and details are different, but, it always easier to start with something similar. DCS now has momentum turning out new modules. The core features people want are new coding efforts. DCS was not originally designed to have a Dynamic Campaign. The new Damage Model system is still being worked out on the WWII planes. These efforts are going to take years. As for the Hind, it is tanking 105mm tank rounds and keeps flying. It's still early early-access. The Apache not even out yet. -
Actually, a good test case for adding WWII fighters to MAC is how popular the F-86 Sabre and Mig-15 matchup is in MAC. These fighters have cockpits more similar to warbirds then modern jets.

Navigator has a perfect view of the VSI.
-
And I thought the VSI position in the Sabre was bad until I got the Mossie.

The whole Doppler system is not working for me. The Stationary Flight indicator is showing wrong information. The Ground Speed and Drift Angle indicator is off. The Digital Display Unit shows wrong numbers in a route I have flew in the Mi-8 many times without issue. So the Map is broken.
-
The ammo indicators are on the right side near the floor. They don't work with the 30mm cannon yet. Haven't tried GUV pods.

The little cap over the fire button on the Cyclic doesn't have a bind.
-
The M4 soldiers already crouch to fire. The M249 soldiers already go prone to fire. I doubt we are looking at new behavior.

Found this gem on YouTube presented by the ZenosWarbirds: Position Firing. Shows how a bomber gunners needs to aim to hit a attacking fighter.

Grimleo replied to Grimleo's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, the shadows have been fixed. Good job ED. -

What AI Only Aircraft would you like to see for DCS World?
Grimleo replied to JonathanRL's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I want AI Civilian Transports. 737, 777, A320, A340. We have a lot of civilian airports in the maps without air traffic. I am also curious how civilian transports show up on radar. Don't want to accidently shoot down that 737. -
It is still an issue. See video below (latest beta build 1/31/2021): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o2y-A-PlSw Lighting issue3.trk

When the Graphs Shadow setting is set to high, you get strange shadows in the MIG-15 cockpit. See attached image. The headrest seem invisible. Many of the cockpit object are casting partial shadows. Please fix.

I am thinking about buying a VPC MongoosT-50CM2 base and a VPC V.F.X. grip with my U.S. stimulus money. The description of the V.F.X grip makes the statement: "Digital Paddle Lever Axis". Does that mean the Paddle Lever is an joystick axis? I want to use the grip for MIG-15, YAK-52, and the Spitfire. The paddle lever would be for the air brakes on these planes. I don't want the grip if the paddle lever is really just a button.

Fixing the cockpit shadows (setting: High) on the Sabre and the MIG-15 has higher priority with me. Adding new damage models for both would be nice too.
-
The F-86 Sabre and MIG-15. You get transonic jet performance with guns only dogfighting. Best period base matchup. Checkout the Korea 1952! server.

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
Grimleo replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I recently bought a Simshaker Jetpad and have been using the SimShaker for Aviators with DCS. It is a wonderful product. I am having problems with the software not recognizing the new P-47-30(early) and the P-47-40. Below is the error message I am getting: -
The QF 3.7 AAA is a British gun. Currently (DCS 2.5.6.57264 Open Beta 2020-11-04) the gun is manned by American Soldiers. British Soldiers should man the gun.
-
I would like some WWII destroyers. I wouldn't mind a US Fletcher class but they were mostly used in the Pacific. Maybe a late update Benson-Gleaves class. A Yugumo class would work for Japan.

Answered my own question. The default livery is from the 351 Fighter Squadron 353 Fighter Group 8th Air Force. The squadron side letters were YJ. Found the information on the American Air Museum in Britain site. The pilot in the picture is Capt. Lloyd G. Hally who flew with the 351st Fighter Squadron. Hally flew P-47D "Angel of Mercy" and disappeared on a mission after encountering engine trouble. First declared MIA, Hally was later classified KIA. He joined the squadron on June 7, 1944 and served until his disappearance on Sept. 21, 1944. He hailed from Huxley, IA.
-
What squadron does the default livery belong too? I like to use Google to find the squadron side letters that go with the livery.

There is a lighting issue with the P-51. Under certain conditions, sunlight shines on the floor of the P-51. See picture below. Attached is a track file showing the issue. Also attached is the mission file from which the track was generated. This bug may be related. Lighting issue2.trk LFG Normandy.miz

[REPORTED]Oil Pressure warming up issues
Grimleo replied to ShadowFrost's topic in Bugs and Problems
The oil pressure gauge is bugged. It is increasing pressure instead of decreasing slowly. The devs need to make a sign change in the code. The P-51 has the correct behavior. I think the switch to green pressure was a quick workaround. Figured out the problem after switching to the P-51 after trying out the P-47. The P-47 is too early in the EA for my taste.
