Yes, I remember this part. Even in mode plan with LD bombs. But somehow it turned out not to be accurate? I start v. low: 50m AGL pulling up to 600 / 1200 m approx. It's mostly a matter of distance × time it takes you to visually acquire the target (the target point on the HUD may help here when your plane did not suffer too much INS drift) Dropping by: I don't pay attention to this. I follow the HUD symbology. The targeting computer calculates the appropriate time to pickle given your pitch, angle, speed and distance to target. So all of these may vary. Yes, I maintain mach 0.85 - 0.95. I try to get as close to being transsonic without crossing that line (you don't want your aircraft to become unstable at this moment). The faster, the least vulnerable and the farthest you can drop your bombs. Regarding the steering cues: it's all about your plane's speed and how fast you align your plane with the target. You have to be quick. You only have a few seconds to find a firing solution. And you want to minimize the time you spend being vulnerable (the pop up part is the one you want to minimize).

I agree a late GR1 would be the best choice. Do the mod you've mentioned apply to the GR1.A or .B or both?

Hi, I'd like us to share our tips and clues on how to perform acurate dive bombing runs with the SB/71. I'll typically get to 30° off the target heading at 15 km at mach 0.85-0.95 At about 7 km from the target, I pull up about 4G, set AB to zone 3, and start looking to the side to visually acquire the target When the target comes within sight or the general area where it is (if it is too small to be spotted early on), I start to roll until the target passes behind the upper mirror Then I make an opposite roll to align the plane on the axis to the target, and have the target at the centre of the HUD I quickly put the dot over the target or slightly before the target and press the weapons unsafe button (the diving angle slowly increases as the computed impact point for the bombs is a few degrees below the plane's flight path) When the wings appear on the HUD, I pickle If I want the bombs to hit targets over an extended area (e.g. when the target is a convoy of vehicles following each other), I pull the stick while releasing them. Otherwise I keep the dot on the target After the bombs are released, I start to disengage, usually low and toward a preplanned escape route I do not know how to precisely calculate what constitues a successful run. The bombs almost always fall where I intend them to or very close. But the amount of damage caused to the target can vary significantly. Bridges and buildings are easy targets and are always destroyed. The damage caused to vehicle columns can vary significantly as the bombs can fall between vehicles or as they fall a few meters to the right or to the left. There's always room for improvement. So I'd like to hear how you do it.

Spawning a Viggen on the ground next to an invisible FARP
Leviathan667 replied to Leviathan667's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
This odd for when I load the mission from the ME, I can start from the ground. Thanks Rudel. Didn't know about the mod. -
Hi, I just noticed in the Short-field training instant mission the plane does spawn at ground level and still (ramp start) next an invisible FARP, on an airstrip north of Kutaisi. I've tried to make the same happen in a custom mission on a random road but I was not able to. The plane starts in the air. What is it that I am missing?

I'm all for a GR1A/B. Otherwise, I'd welcome a Buccaneer as the next best thing (2 engines, 2 crew, carrier capable, 60/70s plane, complex machine).

LS/SKU and LMAL not working when bound to keyboard keys!
Leviathan667 replied to CmdrVoid's topic in Bugs and Problems
i have ls/sku on numpad enter and l/mal to numpad+. Works fine so far. Maybe the issue is with the modifier? -
Hi, I noticed the following: Seat height adjustment works. But the sound I used to hear when raising/lowering the seat is gone. RB-04E launch over land: the missiles crash pretty early after being launched. This bug had been reported before and fixed according to the changelog. But it seems it is back as I just did to release 2 RB-04Es over flat l and a few km before reaching the sea and they crashed. See here:

Mission editor: x: cockpit argument in range
Leviathan667 replied to Leviathan667's topic in DCS: C-101 AvioJet
Thank you for your very helpful advice. I didn't know about ModelViewer2. It is a great tool! As a side note, I found out for the CC that the U/V knob argument # is 404. -
Did you check if it works with another plane? It might be a map issue?

Hi, I'm designing a custom mission and I need certain audio files to be heard only when the player's radio is tuned to UHF channel 1 (251 MHz). I checked training mission 2.2 and found the following : TRIGGER CONDITION ACTIONS Autorizacion de despegue, NO EVENT X: Cockpit argument in range (14,0.5, 0.5,"") MESSAGE TO ALL (Select frequenc, 100, false, 0) ARGUMENT: 14 MIN: 0.5 MAX: 0.5 TEXT: Select frequency 134.000 MHz Interphone control unit: VHF We are already cleared for take off. I have a hard time relating the parameters of ARGUMENT 14 with VHF frequency 134 MHz and inferring what values I should input to make UHF 251 MHz a condition. Can anyone help? Thanks

C-101CC/EB INS + Bomb employement question?
Leviathan667 replied to Leviathan667's topic in DCS: C-101 AvioJet
Thank you for the quick and informative reply -
Hello, I've been flying the C-101 for almost two weeks. This is a great module! Thank you Aviodev for having brought it to DCS. Today, I've been reading the annex for the 101CC. At page 133 of the manual, regarding the HSI, the following has been written: Should I understand the C-101CC (and the EB?) do have an INS? If yes, will it be implemented? Will the "navigation source annunciators" be implemented too? At page 146 of the manual, regarding the employment of bombs, the following can be read: Is the "pre-set sight line" set according to parameters that can be inputted manually (e.g. XXX miliradians) or is it computed according to aircraft, speed, attitude, distance from target (or pre-set firing distance) and selected weapon? Or can one adjust the pre-set parameter in the mission editor? Under what circumstances should one set the optical sight to auto? Thanks

thank you

I am puzzled with the "ASP-5 Bomb mil deflection setting". According to the label that appears when your mouse cursor hover on it, the unit of measurement is the mil. But, in the manual (p. 132), it says: The scale on the ASP-5 Bomb mil deflection setting goes from 0 to 12. So can it be confirmed the scale is not in mils but in degrees and the text should read "ASP-5 Bomb mil degree deflection setting"? Or am I missing sthing here?

What is there to finish?

Yes indeed. And tactical manuals too. We need to know how to properly use the plane

[USER ERROR] ASP-5N targeting inaccurate
Leviathan667 replied to Leviathan667's topic in Resolved Bugs
Thanks for the quick reply. In kph and according to the tacview file: Begining of the dive = IAS 330 TAS 400 When firing the rockets = IAS 680 TAS 725 Dive exit = IAS 850 TAS 880 -
I've noticed that the gunsight, in steep dives, is not accurate. I set up a practice mission. The aim is to hit a radar on a mountain top. I attacked the target after a pop up maneuver. Dove at about 50°. The gunsight was uncaged. The rockets were selected. The firing distance set to 2000m. The targeting set to optical. I did fire at 2000m from the target with the reticle on the target or close to it. But the rockets did hit some place beyond the target. This track is one example I recorded, among a dozen. The issue is the same whether I cage or urcage the gunsight. Whether I set the distance to 1000m or 1500m or 2000m. Whether I do a 10° dive or a 60° dive. Whether I use the gun or the rockets. When uncaged and flying level, I noticed the reticle disappears below the AR18-8 glass. If I set the armament knob to bombs, the reticle does not show up. Also, the circle size does not fit with the size of the target at the chosen distance. See: TRK file + tacview file SyAAF_MiG19P_bombing trial 50.trk Tacview-20201122-163754-Trial_50_Deg_dive_uncaged_sight.zip.acmi.zip

I made a few trials to find out the appropriate parameters for a successful level bombing using 2 × 250 kg bombs. I am sharing my findings. Outside temp = 15°C QNH = 772.5 mmHg QFE (on target) = 711.8 mmHg Crosswind = 1 m/s Turbulence = 0.3°/sec Throttle to max (no mil/no reheat) The target is a 43 m × 43 m warehouse

Do you know what triggers the appearance of stripes on the Izumrud radar screen? This happened during a night intercept of a Tu-95, for a few minutes. It did not seem to affect the tracking radar.
-
Just read somewhere real pilots used it in gyro mode to intercept bombers and other slow maneuvring aircraft. In a turn fight, they used the sight in in its fixed position. Thnks rossmum for the tip. At what altitude range is the 19 at its best in DCS? I read IRL, medium to high altitude and that it was even prohibited by Soviet doctrine to fight at low alt.

I am looking for a tactical manual (something that contains tactical maneuvers, e.g. for weapons employment) like those found in the Kursant campaign for the L-39) and I stumbled upon this: https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP80T00246A061400380001-8.pdf It does not contain what I am looking for but it may be an interesting read anyway.
